The Schabus WWD 100 SMART is a mobile, battery-powered device for detecting water leaks. It runs on two AAA batteries and requires neither a power outlet nor any wiring. As soon as the fork sensor comes into contact with water, the blue LED on the device starts flashing and a push notification is sent immediately to your smartphone via the free Smart Life app – no matter where you are.
As a mobile device, the water detector can be placed flexibly: only the fork sensor is fixed to the floor using the supplied mounting material. The battery status is also monitored directly via the app, so you can replace the batteries in good time. The sensor was developed by Schabus and is designed for reliable detection of small puddles and leaks.
A 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network is required for setup. The WWD 100 is intended for indoor use only – for example in living areas, commercial and business premises as well as small businesses – and is not suitable for outdoor operation.

How the WWD 100 is constructed
The WWD 100 consists of a compact device housing and a fork sensor connected via a cable.
Compact device housing
The white housing contains the electronics with Wi-Fi connectivity and the battery compartment. The device itself should not come into contact with water and can be mounted on the wall.
Battery compartment with sliding cover
The cover is slid open and removed, after which the two AAA batteries are inserted. After insertion the control LED lights up briefly blue and then goes out.
RESET button in the battery compartment
The reset button is located in the open battery compartment. When pressed for at least 3 seconds, the LED starts flashing blue and the automatic network connection mode is activated.

The LED indicates the connection mode during setup and flashes blue on the device in the event of an alarm.
Connection cable to the sensor
The fork sensor is permanently connected to the device via a cable. This allows the device to be placed in a protected location while the sensor sits directly on the floor.
Fork sensor with two metal contacts
The sensor is triggered when water comes into contact with both metal contacts. It is fixed with a screw and wall plug so that it does not float away in the event of water damage. The mounting height determines the water level at which the alarm is triggered.

Commissioning in just a few steps
According to the manufacturer, the WWD 100 can be set up in around two minutes. Have your Wi-Fi router password ready and stay no further than 5 metres from the router during the initial installation.
Sensor and batteries
- Fix the sensor near the floor using the supplied mounting material (screw and wall plug) so that both sensor contacts touch the floor.
- Slide the cover off the device, insert the two AAA batteries and replace the cover. The blue control LED lights up briefly and then goes out.
Setup in the app
- Download the “Smart Life – Smart Living” app from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.
- Create a new account: select country, enter e-mail address and request a verification code. Enter the confirmation code received by e-mail and set a password. If you already use the app, go directly to “Add Device”.
- Press the RESET button on the water detector for at least 3 seconds until the LED flashes blue.
- In the app, tap + in the top right and select “Add Device”. The app now searches for the device; the pairing attempt may take a few seconds.
- Alternatively, add manually: select “Security Sensor” and then “Sensor (WiFi)”.
- Select the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and enter the password. Pay attention to the correct spelling (upper and lower case) and ensure that the smartphone and water detector are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Important: When changing the Wi-Fi network, the water detector must be deleted from the app and added again in the new Wi-Fi network. If you pass the product on to a third party, always select the “Remove Device” option in the settings menu beforehand.
Lithium batteries for continuous operation
The detector operates with two AAA batteries, which are included in the scope of delivery.
Tip from Schabus: For continuous operation, use modern lithium rechargeable batteries (AAA size) with a USB-C connection. These can be conveniently recharged with a smartphone cable and provide a constant power output until fully discharged. With conventional batteries, the voltage drops slowly, which can jeopardise alarm reliability.

For your safety, the manufacturer recommends performing the function test monthly.
- Touch both sensor contacts with a water-soaked cloth or electrically conductive material
- The alarm is triggered immediately
- Remove the cloth or material: the alarm stops
- The WWD 100 resets automatically after approximately one second

- Do not operate the device outdoors
- The device itself should not come into contact with water
- Do not leave the cable and sensor permanently in water; dry them as quickly as possible after an alarm
- Do not open the device; it contains no parts that can be serviced by the user
- Keep packaging material away from children
- Avoid moisture (splash or rain water), dust and direct sunlight
- Clean only with a dry linen cloth; if heavily soiled, slightly dampened; do not use solvent-based cleaning agents
- Use only for the intended purpose; other uses may cause damage
- The product complies with the legal, national and European requirements; the CE declaration is available on the manufacturer’s website
Warranty, guarantee and disposal
The device is covered by the statutory warranty of at least 2 years in the EU. The manufacturer Elektrotechnik Schabus additionally offers a 5-year guarantee, which can be registered online. Repairs and spare parts are available directly from the manufacturer.
The device must not be disposed of with household waste. The crossed-out wheeled bin symbol reminds you to use the take-back systems for waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE No. 91394868).

Device: Reset the device using the RESET button and make sure the LED is flashing during connection. Wait about 10 seconds to confirm the flashing before continuing.
App: Use the latest app version, check the app permissions for Wi-Fi and location, clear the app cache if necessary or reinstall the app.
