GX-D500 USB Calibration Adapter Cable

The USB calibration adapter for the precise zero-point adjustment of your CO₂ warning device GX-D500P

The Schabus USB calibration adapter is used for the professional zero-point adjustment of CO₂ warning devices of the GX-D500 and GX-D500P series. It ensures that your warning device continues to measure reliably even after years of use.

NDIR sensors are subject – like any precise measuring technology – to a natural ageing and drift development. As a result, the so-called zero point (approx. 410 ppm CO₂, the outdoor air value) can shift slightly over time. The calibration adapter compensates for this natural sensor drift.

The adapter is robustly built (degree of protection IP67) and is intended exclusively for use by authorised specialist personnel.

Maintain measuring accuracy permanently

Regular zero-point adjustment keeps your CO₂ warning device within the specified tolerance range.

🎯

Precise zero-point adjustment

Readjusts the zero point of the CO₂ warning device GX-D500P (approx. 410 ppm CO₂ – outdoor air value).

📉

Compensates for sensor drift

Compensates for the natural ageing and drift development of the NDIR sensor.

🔕

Fewer premature and false alarms

Unwanted premature or false alarms are avoided because the measurement is correct again.

🔒

Alarm thresholds remain unchanged

The factory-defined alarm thresholds remain intact and can only be adjusted by Elektrotechnik Schabus.

How the USB calibration adapter is designed

The calibration adapter consists of the adapter itself and a connection cable to the warning device.

1

USB calibration adapter

The adapter has a robust design with degree of protection IP67 and is designed for professional use in technical environments. It performs the zero-point adjustment of the CO₂ warning devices GX-D500 and GX-D500P.

2

Connection cable

The enclosed connection cable establishes the connection between the calibration adapter and the warning device. For the adjustment, the warning device must be switched off and de-energised.

3

Operating instructions

The enclosed operating instructions support specialist personnel in carrying out the procedure. The operating instructions for the warning device GX-D500P are available for download on the manufacturer’s website.

Re-calibration – what to observe

Re-calibration should be carried out exclusively by authorised specialist personnel.

  • Switch the warning device off and de-energise it for the adjustment
  • During the adjustment the zero point is newly adjusted (approx. 410 ppm CO₂ – outdoor air value)
  • The factory-defined alarm thresholds remain unchanged
  • The alarm thresholds can only be adjusted by Elektrotechnik Schabus
  • Observe the operating instructions included in the scope of delivery

How often should calibration be performed?

Depending on the operating environment, the manufacturer recommends the following intervals.

  • Every six months to annually under normal conditions
  • Quarterly or monthly in demanding environments
  • More frequently in rooms with permanently elevated CO₂ base levels
  • In areas with infrequent fresh-air access below 500 ppm CO₂, more frequent calibration may be advisable

Manufacturer’s notes

  • Intended exclusively for use by authorised specialist personnel
  • Switch the warning device off and de-energise it before the adjustment
  • Use only for CO₂ warning devices of the GX-D500 and GX-D500P series
  • The alarm thresholds of the warning device are not changed by the adjustment

Frequently asked questions

What is the USB calibration adapter needed for?

For the professional zero-point adjustment of the CO₂ warning devices GX-D500 and GX-D500P. It compensates for the natural drift of the NDIR sensor so that measuring accuracy is permanently maintained.

Why is a zero-point adjustment necessary?

NDIR sensors are subject to a natural ageing and drift development. As a result, the zero point (approx. 410 ppm CO₂, outdoor air value) can shift slightly over time. Regular adjustment maintains measuring accuracy, avoids premature or false alarms and keeps the device within the specified tolerance range.

How often should calibration be performed?

Under normal conditions, every six months to annually is recommended; in demanding environments quarterly or monthly; more frequently in the case of permanently elevated CO₂ base levels. In areas with infrequent fresh-air access below 500 ppm CO₂, more frequent calibration may also be advisable.

Does the adjustment change the alarm thresholds?

No. During the adjustment only the zero point is newly adjusted. The factory-defined alarm thresholds remain unchanged and can only be adjusted by Elektrotechnik Schabus.

Who is allowed to carry out the calibration?

The adapter is intended exclusively for use by authorised specialist personnel. Re-calibration should be carried out exclusively by such personnel.

Does the warning device have to be disconnected from the mains for the adjustment?

Yes, the warning device must be switched off and de-energised for the adjustment.

Which devices is the adapter compatible with?

With the CO₂ warning devices GX-D500 and GX-D500P.

How robust is the adapter?

The adapter has degree of protection IP67 and is designed for professional use in technical environments.

Do I receive advice directly from the manufacturer?

Yes, Elektrotechnik Schabus offers personal specialist advice without a call centre. Repairs and spare parts are also available directly from the manufacturer.

How long is the guarantee valid?

The statutory warranty of at least 2 years in the EU applies. In addition, the manufacturer Schabus offers a 5-year guarantee that can be registered online.
