The Schabus Signal Horn 230 V with 100 dB for External Acoustic Alarming
The Schabus signal horn (S60ADH, Q-Light) expands warning and monitoring systems with clearly audible acoustic alarming. With a sound pressure level of max. 100 dB at 1 m distance, it is suitable for alarm forwarding in residential buildings, basements, technical rooms, garages or workshops and produces a signal tone that also penetrates closed doors, loud machines or the vacuum cleaner on the upper floor.
Especially when the actual detector is outside the hearing range, the signal horn ensures reliable perception of alarm messages. It is operated directly on 230 V AC – no power supply unit is required – and is ready for connection with approximately 40 cm of pre-wired connection cable. The robust ABS housing has protection class IP54 when mounted vertically.
Typical applications are water warning systems, gas warning systems, level monitoring as well as technical fault messages. The signal horn is ideal in combination with the Schabus water detectors SHT 5001 and SHT 5002, the gas warning device GX-HS and other warning and monitoring systems with potential-free switching output.
Important note: Always mount the signal horn so that the sound opening points downward. If the sound opening points upward, moisture can enter and impair the function. Protection class IP54 applies only with vertical mounting. Before all work, ensure that the power is disconnected; connection may only be carried out by qualified electricians.

How the Signal Horn Is Constructed
The signal horn consists of a compact ABS housing with sound horn, mounting holes, cable entry and a permanently connected connection cable.
ABS Housing
The impact-resistant ABS housing has a diameter of 75 mm; the overall height of the signal horn is 158 mm. With vertical mounting it achieves protection class IP54. The device contains no user-serviceable parts and must not be opened.
Sound Horn with Horn Opening
The sound horn radiates the signal tone. The horn opening is 44 mm wide and points downward when mounted. It must not be covered so that the signal tone can be radiated unhindered.
Mounting Holes
Mounting is via 2 mounting holes of Ø 5.5 mm each with a hole spacing of 44 mm. Fastening material is included. Do not overtighten the screws to avoid damaging the housing.
Cable Entry
The cable entry measures 10 × 10 mm. The connection cable is routed out of the housing here.
Pre-Wired Connection Cable
The connection cable (2/3 × 0.75 mm²) is approximately 40 cm long and permanently connected. The cores are black (L, via fuse) and white (N). For the 230 V AC version, polarity does not need to be observed.

Read the operating instructions carefully before mounting and commissioning and follow the safety instructions in particular.
Mounting the Signal Horn
- Install the signal horn at a low-vibration mounting location so that it operates reliably.
- Always mount vertically; the sound opening then points downward. For outdoor mounting this is mandatory so that no water can enter.
- Do not cover the sound opening. Mount the signal horn so that the signal tone can be radiated unhindered.
- Do not mount in the immediate vicinity of heat sources and avoid areas with high dust load or permanent moisture.
- Make two mounting holes (2 × Ø 5.5 mm, hole spacing 44 mm) according to the specified dimensions and do not overtighten the screws.
Connecting the Signal Horn
- Before all work, ensure that the power is disconnected and secured against reconnection. Connection may only be carried out by qualified electricians.
- The signal horn is connected to 230 V AC. Cables with a minimum conductor cross-section of 0.8 mm² can be used for the connection.
- Connect the black core via a fuse to L, the white core to N. With AC voltage, polarity does not need to be observed.
- After applying the operating voltage, the signal horn is immediately ready for operation; the signal tone sounds as soon as voltage is present.
Optimal sound propagation: Mount the signal horn freely on the wall, with the sound opening pointing downward, not covered, with sufficient distance from corners and edges and as high as possible. Unfavourable are mounting too close to corners, covered or obscured, next to doors, windows or ventilation openings, and too low. The sound opening must be able to radiate freely and must not be covered by furniture, cladding or other components.
