SHT 262 Water Detector – 230V Plug-in Unit

The Aquastop with sensor cable: detect water over a large area, switch off the appliance, prevent damage

The Schabus Aquastop SHT 262 is a plug-and-play water detector with sensor cable and automatic appliance shut-off. It is inserted between the wall socket and the appliance, for example in front of a washing machine, dishwasher or aquarium pump. As soon as the sensor cable comes into contact with water, it warns acoustically and optically and switches off the connected appliance.

Unlike a fork sensor, the sensor cable reacts over its entire length. It detects water over an area and not just at a single point, for example puddles under fitted kitchens, bathroom furniture, aquariums, pipes, baths and tanks. The cable is simply laid out on the floor.

Via the switchable socket, a normally closed solenoid shut-off valve can also be controlled, which interrupts the water supply in the event of water ingress. The device is intended for use in residential areas, commercial and business premises as well as small businesses.

⚠️

Important note: The SHT 262 is a device for detecting surface water leaks. It is not approved for other purposes. It must not be operated outdoors and must be protected from moisture (splash and rainwater), dust and direct sunlight.

💡

Tip before ordering: The sensor cable is 2 m long as standard. A longer version (maximum 50 m) is manufactured individually by the manufacturer from the factory on request. Subsequent extension of the sensor cable is not possible. Therefore please specify your desired length directly when ordering.

Detect, warn, switch off

The SHT 262 combines an area-measuring sensor cable with acoustic and optical alarm and automatic appliance shut-off.

〰️

Area detection

The sensor cable reacts over its entire length and detects water puddles over an area.

⏻

Automatic shut-off

In the event of a water leak, the connected appliance is switched off, e.g. washing machine or dishwasher.

🚨

Acoustic and optical

Loud buzzer and LED indicator: green in normal operation, red in the event of an alarm.

🔌

Simple installation

Socket device for 230 V with up to 3500 VA switching capacity. Plug in, lay out the cable, done.

🚰

Solenoid shut-off valve

A normally closed solenoid shut-off valve additionally stops the water supply. The valve is installed by a specialist.

How the SHT 262 is constructed

A compact socket device, a short control cable and the sensor cable: the three parts together form the protection system.

1

Housing with Schuko plug and socket

The device is plugged into a socket with 230 V and 50-60 Hz. The mains plug of the appliance to be monitored is plugged into the Schuko socket of the SHT 262.

2

Mains plug lock

The lock over the socket prevents the appliance plug from being accidentally unplugged.

3

LED indicator

The LED lights up green when the device is ready for operation, and red in the event of an alarm.

4

Acoustic buzzer

The buzzer warns loudly and audibly in the event of an alarm.

5

LIYY control cable

The white, 1 m long cable connects the device to the sensor cable. It is briefly waterproof, flame-retardant, self-extinguishing, low-adhesion and largely resistant to oils, greases, coolants and lubricants.

6

Sensor cable

The black-and-white striped cable is 2 m long as standard and consists of two sensor wires in a robust fluoropolymer carrier rod. It is two-pole and non-locating: it reports water over its entire length. After drying it is ready again in approx. 15 seconds.

How the SHT 262 works

1

Normal state

The sensor cable is dry. The LED lights up green and the connected appliance, e.g. a washing machine, is in operation.

2

Water contact

The sensor cable comes into contact with water somewhere along its length. The device detects the smallest amounts of liquid.

3

Alarm and shut-off

An acoustic and optical alarm signal sounds, the LED lights up red and the connected appliance is switched off. A connected solenoid shut-off valve closes and interrupts the water supply.

The alarm remains until the Aquastop is disconnected from the mains and the water is no longer in contact with the sensor cable.

Lay the sensor cable, put the Aquastop into operation

Installation is plug-and-play. A specialist company is only required for the solenoid shut-off valve.

Laying the sensor cable

📍

Select installation location

Lay the cable wherever water leaks could occur, e.g. under kitchen base units, washing machines or bathroom furniture.

〰️

Lay out over an area

Simply lay the sensor cable flat on the floor. It reacts to water over its entire length.

🔌

Route the cable

Route the LIYY control cable down to the floor and connect it to the sensor cable at the desired position.

Commissioning

  1. Plug the Aquastop into a socket with 230 V AC and 50-60 Hz.
  2. Plug the mains plug of the washing machine, dishwasher or other appliance into the Schuko socket of the SHT 262. The mains plug lock prevents accidental unplugging.
  3. The LED lights up green: the device is ready for operation.
  4. Lay the sensor cable flat and then perform the function test.

Extending the cable and sensor cable

There are two cables with different rules. The total length of both cables together should not exceed 50 m.

  • LIYY control cable (white, 1 m): extendable up to 50 m with a LIYY cable (max. 2 x 0.14 mm²) and terminals. To do this, cut the existing cable and reconnect it with terminals.
  • Matching control cable: available by the metre (Art. No. 300780). The desired length can also be specified directly when ordering.
  • Sensor cable (black-and-white, 2 m): extension only from the factory to the desired length, maximum 50 m. Subsequent extension is not possible.
  • Contact: The manufacturer will be happy to assemble your device with the desired cable length from the factory.

Check the function and act correctly in the event of an alarm

Perform the function test monthly for your safety.

How to test the SHT 262

  1. Touch the sensor cable with a cloth soaked in water.
  2. The alarm is triggered immediately and the connected appliance is switched off.
  3. Remove the cloth from the sensor cable.
  4. Briefly disconnect the Aquastop from the mains. The alarm switches off again.

Behaviour in the event of an alarm

  1. Eliminate the cause of the water leak.
