Gas Alarm GX-D500

GX-D500 CO₂ Alarm Device: Professional Dual Protection for Dispensing Systems & Breweries – DIN 6653-2

A leak in the CO₂ line, and the room becomes an invisible trap.

The GX-D500 from Elektrotechnik Schabus GmbH & Co. KG reacts on two levels: 1.5% vol. CO₂ = pre-alarm (acoustic + visual), 3.0% vol. = main alarm + shutdown. The external NDIR infrared sensor with a 4 m cable allows optimal placement near the floor, while the large illuminated 2×16-character display continuously shows the CO₂ ppm value, temperature, and status.

Two potential-free relays (230 V~/5 A alarm + 60 V=/5 A fault) control forced ventilation, solenoid valves, or BMS systems; the relays de-energize upon alarm or fault. Maintenance-free operation; optionally self-calibratable via USB adapter. Made in Germany – the GX-D500 is your active safety management solution for gastronomy and breweries.

The GX-D500 technology is uncompromisingly professional: a high-stability NDIR sensor with 4 m cable measures exactly where CO₂ settles.

Alarm levels fixed according to DIN 6653-2 – tolerant of exhaled air, uncompromising for technical leaks. The display stores the last alarm values, counts alarm events, and shows fault codes. Relay 1 activates at the main alarm (e.g., ventilation ON or valve CLOSED), relay 2 triggers in case of sensor or cable fault. Self-test and drift correction are available. 230 V fixed installation, robust design for continuous operation.

The GX-D500 meets TRGS 502 standards, is the smart interface for building automation, and protects personnel from asphyxiation. It is not merely a detector but a documented safety system – precise, relay-driven, and future-proof.

The GX-D500 is more than a device – it is operational safety for gastronomy and brewing. Whether for a dispensing system with 20 taps, a small craft brewery, a winery using CO₂ maceration, or dry ice processing: a porous hose, a defective valve, or a leaking tank – the GX-D500 responds in stages.

Personnel are warned early, systems are automatically protected, and authorities are satisfied. The external sensor allows installation directly at the source, while the display provides full monitoring. Its robust construction, maintenance-free NDIR sensor, and German engineering make the GX-D500 a long-term performer in demanding environments.

The GX-D500 at a glance:

  • Dual alarm thresholds: 1.5% pre-alarm + 3.0% main alarm (DIN 6653-2).
  • External NDIR sensor: 4 m pre-installed cable – floor-level, precise detection.
  • 2 relays: 230 V~/5 A alarm (shutdown/ventilation) + 60 V=/5 A fault (BMS).
  • Illuminated display: Shows ppm value, temperature, alarm history, and fault codes.
  • Self-calibration: Optional via USB adapter – drift compensation.
  • Complete mounting set: Screws, wall plugs, cable fittings, screwdrivers.
  • Loud alarm: Piezo buzzer + red LED – cannot be ignored.
  • Made in Germany: Highest quality, service, and durability by Schabus.

Applications: Where the GX-D500 provides professional protection

The GX-D500 ensures multi-level safety in all commercial areas with CO₂ cylinders or systems:

  • Beverage dispensing systems: Hospitality, bars – relay closes solenoid valve during leaks.
  • Small & medium breweries: Fermentation tanks, pressure vessels – pre-alarm for personnel.
  • Wine & fermentation cellars: CO₂ from maceration – forced ventilation at 3%.
  • Dry ice processing: Storage and production – safe working environment.
  • Event catering: Mobile dispensing units – permanent installation possible.
  • Industry & large kitchens: CO₂ for foaming or cooling – BMS integration.
  • Craft beer & soft drinks: Bottling processes – compliance and logging.

With the GX-D500, professional CO₂ protection starts with the relay and goes beyond the alarm. It is the DIN 6653-2-compliant, relay-controlled solution for all who use carbon dioxide without taking risks. The external sensor, clear display, and German quality make it an indispensable safety component.

Scope of delivery

  • GX-D500 CO2 alarm device with pre-installed sensor
  • User manual
  • Mounting materials (4 large + 2 small screws and wall plugs, 2 large + 1 small cable fittings)
  • 2 screwdrivers

Safety instructions

  • Before installation or commissioning, read the user manual carefully.
  • Installation must be carried out by qualified personnel.
  • Packaging materials are not toys. Keep them out of reach of children.

Intended use

  • The GAS ALARM GX-D500 is a carbon dioxide detector with an external NDIR sensor for detecting higher CO₂ concentrations from pressurized technical systems or from dry ice processing and storage.
  • Technical defects or leaks in system fittings, as well as excessive accumulations caused by dry ice sublimation, are detected, providing alerts to improve room ventilation.
  • The GX-D500 is not suitable for general CO₂ monitoring in indoor air caused by exhaled breath.
  • The device for fixed installation must not be used in explosive atmospheres.
  • Any use other than that described above is not permitted.
