Akuvox AV-SR01 I-O Module

Additional Tamper Protection for Door Release

The Akuvox AV-SR01 is a compact security I/O module that provides additional protection for the door control of Akuvox door stations. Akuvox promotes it as a simple way to increase building security with minimal effort: if a door station is forcibly removed or deliberately damaged, the AV-SR01 automatically disconnects the connection to the door opener – the door remains reliably locked, even if the door station itself has been put out of action.

Encrypted communication: The module communicates in encrypted form with connected Akuvox devices and is mounted on the secure side of the door – i.e. within the protected area, out of reach of an attacker on the outside.

With dimensions of only 31×56×24 mm, the AV-SR01 fits into most standard installation boxes and can therefore be integrated unobtrusively into existing electrical installations.

How the AV-SR01 Provides Additional Door Protection

The operating principle of the AV-SR01 is deliberately kept simple and addresses exactly the point where classic door stations can have a weak spot.

  • The module is installed on the secure inside of the door, independently of the door station itself
  • Communication with the door station takes place in encrypted form via an RS485 connection
  • In the event of a removal or tampering attempt on the door station, the AV-SR01 disconnects the connection to the door opener
  • The door therefore remains securely locked, even if the door station itself is no longer functional
💡

Practical example: A burglar attempts to forcibly tear the door station off the façade in order to gain direct access to the door opener wiring. The AV-SR01 detects the manipulation and immediately disconnects the connection to the door opener. Direct access to the wiring is thus rendered ineffective, and the door remains locked.

How the AV-SR01 Is Built

The AV-SR01 is designed as a compact plastic housing for indoor use and can therefore be accommodated in a space-saving manner behind a standard electrical installation box.

1

Compact Plastic Housing

At only 31×56×24 mm, the AV-SR01 is one of the smallest accessory modules in the Akuvox portfolio and fits into most standard installation boxes – for unobtrusive mounting without a visible additional component.

2

RS485 Interface

Via the RS485 connection, the module communicates in encrypted form with the connected Akuvox door station and thus detects manipulation attempts.

3

Relay Output for the Door Opener

A relay output directly controls the door opener or door lock. Exactly this connection is automatically disconnected in the event of a detected manipulation attempt.

4

Input for Exit Button

An additional input allows the connection of an exit button, with which the door can be opened from the inside independently of the door station.

5

Pairing Button and Status Indicators

A button is used for pairing with the associated door station; two LED indicators show the current operating or connection status.

6

Power Supply

The module requires an external power supply of at least 12 V / 100 mA via its own power input.

Interaction with Door Station, Door Lock and Exit Button

According to the connection diagram in the data sheet, the AV-SR01 is the central link between door station, door lock and exit button on the secure side of the door.

  • Connection to the Akuvox door station via RS485 cable
  • Relay output connected directly to the door lock or door opener
  • Input for an external exit button for door opening from the inside
  • Own power supply independent of the door station

Commissioning in a Few Steps

Setting up the AV-SR01 can be completed quickly even without prior knowledge.

  1. Insert the module into an installation box on the secure side of the door
  2. Establish the RS485 connection to the Akuvox door station
  3. Wire the relay output to the door lock or door opener
  4. Optional: Connect an exit button to the input
  5. Connect the power supply (min. 12 V / 100 mA)
  6. Press the pairing button to pair the module with the door station

Why the AV-SR01 Is Suitable

Additional Tamper Protection

Door remains locked even if the door station is manipulated.

Encrypted Communication

Secure RS485 connection to the door station.

Ultra-Compact

Fits into common installation boxes, installed unobtrusively.

Low Additional Cost

Significant security increase with minimal investment.

Exit Button Connection

Door opening from the inside possible independently of the door station.

Simple Pairing

Pairing at the push of a button with the associated door station.

Practical Application Examples

  • Retrofitting existing Akuvox door stations with additional tamper protection
  • Properties with increased risk of burglary or vandalism
  • Entrances where the door station is freely accessible on the façade
  • Addition of an exit button for door opening from the inside without using the door station

The Akuvox AV-SR01 closes a typical security gap with externally mounted door stations: it ensures that forced access to the door station does not automatically also allow access to the door opener – a cost-effective but effective addition for security-relevant access points.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Akuvox AV-SR01 and what is it used for?

The Akuvox AV-SR01 is a compact security I/O module that provides additional protection for the door control of an Akuvox door station. If the door station is forcibly removed or damaged, the module automatically disconnects the connection to the door opener so that the door remains locked.

Where is the AV-SR01 mounted?

The module is installed on the secure inside of the door, out of reach of an attacker on the outside. Thanks to its compact dimensions of 31×56×24 mm, it fits into most standard installation boxes.

How does the AV-SR01 communicate with the door station?

Communication takes place in encrypted form via an RS485 connection between the door station and the AV-SR01.

Can an exit button also be connected?

Yes. The AV-SR01 has its own input to which an exit button can be connected in order to open the door from the inside independently of the door station.

How is the AV-SR01 powered?

The module requires its own external power supply of at least 12 V / 100 mA, independent of the power supply of the door station.

Is the AV-SR01 compatible with every Akuvox door station?

The AV-SR01 is designed as an accessory module for combination with Akuvox door stations. For specific compatibility with a particular model, a look at the Akuvox Knowledge Base or an enquiry to our support team is recommended.
