Door controller and card reader in one compact device
The Akuvox AV-A01 is an IP-based access control terminal that combines a door controller and card reader in a single, compact device. Akuvox promotes it as “smart, compact and stylish” – instead of two separate components, the AV-A01 handles both functions at once and thereby reduces the cost of an access solution. The multi-frequency RFID antenna reads both 125 kHz and 13.56 MHz cards, covering the vast majority of currently common card types; in addition, release via NFC on compatible Android smartphones is possible.
Stylish, robust design: The front is made of tempered glass, framed by an aluminium frame. Despite its slim appearance, the device is protected to IP65 against dust and water jets as well as to IK07 against impact, making it suitable for outdoor use as well.
With capacity for 20,000 cards and 100,000 access logs, plus compatibility with Akuvox Cloud and ACMS, the AV-A01 can be operated either as a standalone unit or as part of a larger, centrally managed access solution.
Compact, yet fully equipped
The AV-A01 combines card recognition, door control and access management in one device.
Multi-frequency RFID reader
Reads 125 kHz and 13.56 MHz cards as well as NFC via compatible Android smartphones.
Glass & aluminium
Front made of tempered glass with aluminium frame for a high-quality appearance.
IP65 & IK07
Protected against dust, water jets and mechanical impact – also suitable for outdoor use.
Cloud & ACMS
Compatible with Akuvox Cloud and the central management platform ACMS.
Time & attendance
Flexible shift planning and attendance management possible directly on the device.
How the AV-A01 is built
The AV-A01 is designed as a flat, compact terminal with clearly structured functional areas.
Tempered glass front
Behind the glass front sits the RFID antenna for 125 kHz and 13.56 MHz cards as well as NFC. The closed glass surface additionally protects the electronics from weather influences and makes external manipulation more difficult.
Aluminium frame
The aluminium frame encloses the glass front and gives the compact housing (86 x 86 x 33 mm) mechanical stability.
Signal tone speaker
An integrated speaker provides acoustic feedback for successful or rejected card recognition.
Rear connections
On the rear are the Ethernet connection with Power over Ethernet (802.3af), a connection for an external 12 V DC power supply (if PoE is not available), a relay output for the door opener, two inputs and a Wiegand interface that can be configured as either input or output.
Tamper protection
An integrated tamper alarm reports forced attempts to dismantle the terminal.
More than just door opening
Beyond pure card recognition, the AV-A01 offers several management functions that are otherwise more commonly found in larger access systems.
- Export and import of access schedules (time windows for access rights)
- Management of different access levels for various user groups
- Switchable to pure reader mode, for example for connection to an external access control panel
- Query and export of door access logs
- Flexible shift planning and attendance management, for example for time & attendance at the workplace
Integration into existing systems
The AV-A01 can be operated either as a standalone door controller or as a card reader within a larger access infrastructure.
Wiegand input/output
Can be used either as a Wiegand output for connection to an external access control panel or as a Wiegand input for an additional external reader.
Akuvox Cloud
Centralised, cloud-based management of users and access data via the Akuvox Cloud platform.
ACMS
Integration into the Akuvox management software ACMS for the administration of multiple devices and sites.
On the network side, the AV-A01 supports among other things IPv4, HTTP(S), FTP, DNS, NTP, TCP, UDP, ICMP, DHCP and ARP.
Designed for larger user numbers as well
Up to 20,000 users
Local user management directly on the device.
Up to 20,000 cards
Sufficient storage capacity even for larger sites with many access rights holders.
100,000 access logs
Extensive local logging of all access events.
Maintenance and operation from a distance
For professional operation and remote maintenance, the AV-A01 includes several administrative functions.
- Auto-provisioning for automated initial setup
- Management via a web-based management portal
- Web-based packet dump for network diagnostics
- Backup and restore of the configuration
- Firmware updates via the web interface
- System logs
Robustly built for continuous outdoor use
Despite its slim design, the AV-A01 is designed for continuous use at outdoor doors.
- Front panel made of tempered glass with aluminium frame
- IP65 protection against dust and strong water jets
- Impact resistance according to IK07
- Integrated tamper alarm in case of forced dismantling
- Operating temperature range from −20 °C to +55 °C for outdoor use
Commissioning in a few steps
Setting up the AV-A01 can be completed in a short time even without prior knowledge.
- Determine mounting type: use flush-mount or surface-mount installation
- Mount the device and connect the Ethernet/PoE cable; alternatively use an external 12 V power supply
- Perform basic setup via the terminal’s web interface
- Enrol users and cards on the device or centrally via Akuvox Cloud or ACMS
- Wire the relay to the door opener
- Optional: set the operating mode (standalone controller or pure card reader)
