Akuvox AV-A094S Access Control Unit

The central 4-door controller in a stylish steel housing for scalable access systems

The Akuvox AV-A094S is an intelligent access controller in a stylish SGCC steel housing that centrally controls up to four doors. Via Ethernet, the device can be integrated into existing networks and managed via a web interface. The AV-A094S supports both standalone operation and integration into networked, large-scale access systems, making it suitable for projects of widely varying sizes.

Direct mains operation: Unlike smaller Akuvox controllers, the AV-A094S has an integrated power supply for direct connection to 100–240 V AC (1.5 A, 50/60 Hz) – a separate external power supply is therefore not required. Connection to card readers is via four Wiegand and four RS485 ports, which also support the open OSDP or OSDP v2 protocol.

For central management of multiple sites and controllers, the AV-A094S can be easily integrated into the Akuvox Cloud or ACMS.

Four doors, one central controller

The AV-A094S combines all the essential functions of a professional access controller in a robust steel housing with a Linux operating system.

🚪

4-door control

Controls up to four entrances simultaneously via four Wiegand and four RS485 ports.

🔌

Integrated power supply

Direct connection to 100–240 V AC, without a separate external power supply.

🚨

Emergency Door Release (EDR)

Central emergency release function for all connected doors in the event of an alarm.

🚧

Multi-door interlock

Prevents multiple secured doors from being open at the same time.

↔️

Anti-passback

Prevents the transfer of credentials for multiple use by different persons.

🛡️

Tamper-proof design

Tamper alarm against forced manipulation of the housing.

How the AV-A094S is built

The AV-A094S is designed as a wall-mounted housing and serves as the central switching point between card readers, door openers and other access components.

1

Stylish steel housing

The front panel is made of SGCC steel (galvanised cold-rolled strip) in a plain, light design with a status LED and operating indicator on the front.

2

Four Wiegand and four RS485 ports

External card readers are connected to these ports – either via the classic Wiegand protocol (26/34/58 bit) or via RS485 with OSDP or OSDP v2. Each of the four doors thus receives its own reader connection.

3

Eight relay outputs and thirteen inputs

The eight relays control the electric door openers of the four doors, while the thirteen inputs can be used for door contacts, exit buttons or alarm detectors – including the central emergency release (EDR) in the event of an alarm.

4

Network connection

An RJ45 Ethernet port integrates the AV-A094S into the network via TCP/IP; configuration is performed via the integrated web interface.

5

Integrated power supply

A built-in power supply unit powers the AV-A094S directly with 100–240 V AC (1.5 A, 50/60 Hz) and also provides four power outputs for connected readers.

6

Mounting type and tamper protection

The AV-A094S is wall-mounted and is equipped with a tamper alarm against forced manipulation of the housing.

More control over four entrances

Beyond pure release control, the AV-A094S includes several functions that are typically required in professional multi-door access systems.

  • Anti-passback function against the transfer of credentials
  • Multi-door interlock
  • First-person-in function for release only after an authorised person has arrived
  • Emergency Door Release (EDR) for central emergency release in the event of an alarm
💡

Practical example: If the fire alarm system of an office building triggers an alarm, the Emergency Door Release function of the AV-A094S automatically unlocks all four connected doors so that employees can leave the building without delay via any escape route.

Integration into existing systems

The AV-A094S is designed as an open access controller and can be combined with both Akuvox’s own and third-party readers.

Wiegand

Supports common Wiegand readers with 26, 34 or 58 bit.

RS485 & OSDP

Connection of RS485 readers including the open, encrypted OSDP or OSDP v2 protocol.

ACMS

Central management of multiple controllers via the Akuvox management platform.

Akuvox Cloud

Simple setup of large-scale access systems across multiple sites.

On the network side, the AV-A094S supports among other things IPv4, HTTP(S), FTP, TFTP, OSDP, DNS, SNTP, TCP, UDP, TLS, ICMP, DHCP and ARP.

Designed for multiple doors and many users

The AV-A094S can also manage access data locally on the device entirely without central management software.

Up to 50,000 users

Local user management directly on the device, even without ACMS or Cloud.

Up to 50,000 cards

Sufficient capacity for sites with many access rights holders distributed across four doors.

Up to 100,000 access logs

Extensive local event log for the traceability of access events.

Maintenance and operation from a distance

For professional operation and remote maintenance, the AV-A094S includes several administrative functions.

  • Auto-provisioning for automated initial setup
  • Management via a web-based management portal
  • Web-based packet dump for network diagnostics
  • Backup and restore of the configuration
  • Firmware updates via the web interface
  • System logs for traceability
  • Central management via Akuvox Cloud and ACMS

Reliable even under demanding conditions

As a central controller, the AV-A094S is designed for stable and secure continuous operation.

  • Tamper-proof housing design
  • Operating temperature from −10 °C to +55 °C
  • Storage temperature from −20 °C to +70 °C
  • Operating humidity from 10 % to 90 %
  • Encrypted communication via OSDP and TLS
  • Emergency Door Release for safe operation in the event of an alarm

Commissioning in a few steps

Setting up the AV-A094S can be completed in a manageable amount of time even for multi-door access systems.

  1. Mount the device on the wall
  2. Connect the power supply to 100–240 V AC
  3. Connect the Ethernet cable for network connection
  4. Connect card readers, door openers, exit buttons and alarms to the corresponding terminals
  5. Perform basic setup via the controller’s web interface
  6. Optional: configure multi-door interlock, anti-passback or Emergency Door Release
  7. Optional: set up central management via ACMS or the Akuvox Cloud
