Akuvox AV-A095S Access Control Unit

The central 4-door controller for scalable access control systems

The Akuvox AV-A095S is a powerful access controller that controls up to four doors simultaneously. Via Ethernet, the device can be integrated into existing networks and managed via a web interface, allowing larger buildings with multiple entrances to be organised centrally. In addition to classic card readers via Wiegand or RS485/OSDP, the AV-A095S also supports advanced security functions such as two-factor authentication, multi-door interlock, anti-passback and first-person-in.

Versatile connectivity: In addition to the wired Ethernet connection, the AV-A095S features integrated dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz & 5 GHz) and can optionally be equipped with LTE and a SIM card slot, which facilitates connection even where no fixed network cabling is available. Power is supplied via a 12 V DC input with 5 A or alternatively via Power over Ethernet according to 802.3at (PoE+).

For central management of multiple sites and controllers, the AV-A095S can be easily integrated into the Akuvox Cloud or ACMS.

Four doors, one central controller

The AV-A095S combines all the essential functions of a professional access controller in a compact housing with a Linux operating system.

🚪

4-door control

Controls up to four entrances simultaneously via eight Wiegand/RS485 ports.

🔐

Two-factor authentication

Combines two recognition methods for an additional security layer.

📶

Dual-band Wi-Fi & optional LTE

IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz; LTE with SIM slot available as an option.

🔌

PoE+ or 12V DC

Power supply via Power over Ethernet (802.3at) or external 12 V DC power supply.

🚧

Multi-door interlock

Prevents multiple secured doors from being open at the same time.

↔️

Anti-passback

Prevents the transfer of credentials for multiple use by different persons.

How the AV-A095S is built

The AV-A095S is designed as a DIN rail device and serves as the central switching point between card readers, door openers and other access components.

1

Plastic housing with terminal strips

The housing is made of robust plastic and is equipped on the top and bottom with screw terminal strips for the wiring of readers, relays, inputs and power supply.

2

Eight Wiegand/RS485 ports

External card readers are connected to these eight ports – either via the classic Wiegand protocol (26/34/58 bit) or via RS485 with OSDP or OSDP v2. Each of the four doors can thus be equipped with up to two readers (e.g. for entry and exit).

3

Eight relay outputs and twelve inputs

The eight relays control the electric door openers, while the twelve inputs can be used for door contacts, exit buttons or alarm detectors – as shown in the manufacturer’s application diagram, in which readers, alarm, electric lock and exit button are connected to the A095.

4

Network and storage equipment

Two RJ45 Ethernet ports, integrated dual-band Wi-Fi, a TF card slot as well as a reset button and status LEDs complete the connectivity.

5

Power supply

The AV-A095S is powered via a 12 V DC input with 5 A or alternatively draws its power directly via Power over Ethernet according to 802.3at (PoE+); eight power outputs are available to supply connected readers.

6

Mounting type and tamper protection

The AV-A095S can be mounted either directly on the wall or on a DIN rail in a distribution cabinet and is equipped with a tamper-proof design.

More control over four entrances

Beyond pure release control, the AV-A095S includes several functions that are typically required in professional multi-door access systems.

  • Two-factor authentication for security-critical areas
  • Multi-door interlock
  • Anti-passback function against the transfer of credentials
  • First-person-in function for release only after an authorised person has arrived
💡

Practical example: In a data centre, two consecutive security doors must never be open at the same time. The multi-door interlock function of the AV-A095S ensures that the second door can only be opened once the first is locked again – combined with two-factor authentication for additional security.

Integration into existing systems

The AV-A095S is designed as an open access controller and can be combined with both Akuvox’s own and third-party readers.

Wiegand

Supports common Wiegand readers with 26, 34 or 58 bit.

RS485 & OSDP

Connection of RS485 readers including the open, encrypted OSDP or OSDP v2 protocol.

ACMS

Central management of multiple controllers via the Akuvox management platform.

Akuvox Cloud

Simple setup of large-scale access systems across multiple sites.

On the network side, the AV-A095S supports among other things IPv4, HTTP(S), FTP, TFTP, OSDP, DNS, SNTP, TCP, UDP, TLS, ICMP, DHCP and ARP.

Designed for large sites

The AV-A095S can also manage access data locally on the device entirely without central management software – with a capacity generously dimensioned for four doors.

Up to 100,000 users

Local user management directly on the device, even without ACMS or Cloud.

Up to 500,000 cards

Very large capacity for sites with many access rights holders distributed across four doors.

Up to 100,000 PIN codes

Individual PIN codes as an additional or alternative access method.

Up to 200,000 access logs

Extensive local event log for the traceability of access events.

Maintenance and operation from a distance

For professional operation and remote maintenance, the AV-A095S includes several administrative functions.

  • Auto-provisioning for automated initial setup
  • Management via a web-based management portal
  • Web-based packet dump for network diagnostics
  • Backup and restore of the configuration
  • Firmware updates via the web interface
  • System logs for traceability
  • Central management via Akuvox Cloud and ACMS

Reliable even under demanding conditions

As a central controller, the AV-A095S is designed for stable and secure continuous operation.

  • Tamper-proof housing design
  • Operating temperature from −10 °C to +55 °C
  • Storage temperature from −20 °C to +70 °C
  • Operating humidity from 10 % to 90 %
  • Encrypted communication via OSDP and TLS
  • Two-factor authentication for security-critical entrances

Commissioning in a few steps

Setting up the AV-A095S can be completed in a manageable amount of time even for larger access systems.

  1. Determine mounting type: wall mounting or installation on the DIN rail in the distribution cabinet
  2. Mount the device and supply power via 12 V DC power supply or PoE+
  3. Connect the Ethernet cable or establish a connection via integrated Wi-Fi
  4. Connect card readers, door openers, exit buttons and alarms to the corresponding terminals
  5. Perform basic setup via the controller’s web interface
  6. Optional: activate multi-door interlock, anti-passback or two-factor authentication
  7. Optional: set up central management via ACMS or the Akuvox Cloud
