Web-Thermo Hygrometer ++

Precise Climate Monitoring with the Web-Thermo-Hygrometer ++ from Wiesemann & Theis

In demanding environments such as climate chambers, food production, or meteorological applications, precise monitoring of temperature and humidity is of critical importance. The Web-Thermo-Hygrometer ++ from Wiesemann & Theis is a high-precision instrument that provides drift-free measurements even under sustained high humidity conditions.

With a robust, dew-resistant sensor, an integrated data logger, and extensive network services, it is ideal for use in climate chamber monitoring, food processing, laboratory technology, and even in outdoor applications. This article highlights the technical features, application areas, and advantages of this versatile device, which meets Industry 4.0 requirements and ensures maximum precision through dew point measurement and climate monitoring.

Precise and Drift-Free Measurements

The Web-Thermo-Hygrometer ++ is equipped with a temperature sensor that covers a range from -20 °C to +80 °C. The humidity sensor measures relative humidity from 0 to 100% RH and is resistant to condensation, making it particularly suitable for environments with high or fluctuating humidity levels. The sensor electronics are encapsulated for protection against environmental influences, increasing the durability and reliability of the device. With appropriate protection against sunlight and precipitation, the sensor is also suitable for outdoor use in meteorological applications. These features make the device an ideal reference instrument for monitoring climate chambers, calibrating other sensors, or monitoring storage conditions of high-value goods.

Intuitive Operation and Network Connectivity

The Web-Thermo-Hygrometer ++ offers extremely user-friendly operation thanks to its intuitive web interface. Users can access real-time data on temperature and humidity via a web browser, analyze trends, and change settings without installing additional software. The graphical display of measurement values makes it easier to detect trends and potential issues, improving the efficiency of temperature and climate monitoring. Seamless network integration enables flexible implementation into existing systems, making the device ideal for both lab technicians and industrial users. As a network thermometer with a highly precise humidity sensor, it offers a robust solution for challenging environments.

Flexible Alarm and Reporting Functions

The Web-Thermo-Hygrometer ++ provides extensive options for alarm and reporting. Up to 12 individually configurable alarms can be defined that automatically send notifications when user-defined limits for temperature or humidity are exceeded. These alerts can be delivered by email, SNMP trap, or Syslog, which is especially advantageous in critical environments such as food production or laboratory settings, where quick responses to environmental changes are required. In addition, the reporting function allows regular summaries to be sent via email, useful for audits, quality control, or documenting operating conditions. These features increase transparency and safety in climate monitoring.

Seamless Integration into Industry 4.0 and IoT

The Web-Thermo-Hygrometer ++ is fully equipped for the demands of Industry 4.0. It supports modern protocols such as OPC UA, REST, and MQTT, allowing easy integration into existing automation systems. It also offers interfaces such as SNMPv1, SNMPv2c, SNMPv3, Modbus TCP, OPC DA, and Sensobase for database integration via ODBC. Developers can access measurement data directly via TCP or UDP sockets to create custom solutions. The HTTP interface allows direct access to current readings—e.g., using JavaScript (AJAX)—for embedding in other websites or applications. Connection to the W&T Cloud enables global access to measurement data, increasing flexibility in connected environments.

Long-Term Data Storage and Global Access

An integrated data logger stores temperature and humidity readings over a period ranging from at least 12 weeks to up to 20 years, depending on the selected logging interval (15 seconds to 1 hour). Data can be exported in various formats such as FTP, Excel files, or email attachments, enabling flexible post-processing. Integration with the W&T Cloud allows worldwide access to stored data, making it accessible anytime and anywhere. An internal battery-buffered clock ensures accurate timestamps, which can be further improved by syncing with a time server. These functions ensure reliable documentation and analysis of environmental conditions, especially beneficial in climate chamber monitoring and food production.

Versatile Applications

The Web-Thermo-Hygrometer ++ is designed for a wide range of use cases. In laboratory environments, it serves as a reference device to monitor stationary climate chambers or as a standard for calibrating other humidity and temperature sensors. In food production—such as cheese or mushroom cultivation or greenhouse operations—it enables reliable measurement of constantly high humidity levels. With appropriate weather protection, the device is also suitable for outdoor meteorological use to monitor temperature and humidity under changing weather conditions. In storage facilities, it helps monitor the conditions of valuable goods to prevent quality degradation. Within the context of Green IT, the device aids in optimizing energy use by providing precise data for climate control system adjustment.

Flexible Power Supply and Standards Compliance

The Web-Thermo-Hygrometer ++ can be powered via Power-over-Ethernet (PoE), supporting both phantom power over data pairs and power via unused cable pairs. Alternatively, an external power supply can be used, which expands its usability in environments without PoE infrastructure. The device meets standards for use in office and industrial environments and provides high electromagnetic immunity according to EN 61000-6-2, as well as low emissions according to EN 55032:2015 + A1 Class B, EN 61000-3-2, and EN 61000-3-3. These features ensure reliable, interference-free operation, even in demanding environments like food production or outdoor settings.

Please note: No power supply is included in the scope of delivery.

Durability and Reliability

The Web-Thermo-Hygrometer ++ is designed for continuous operation and comes with a five-year warranty. Its rugged construction, dew-resistant sensor, and encapsulated sensor electronics make it ideal for use in demanding environments such as tropical climates or outdoor installations. DIN rail mounting capability simplifies installation in industrial settings. The internal battery-backed clock ensures accurate timekeeping, which is optimized through time server synchronization. These features underline the device’s durability and long-term reliability.

An Indispensable Tool for Climate Monitoring

The Web-Thermo-Hygrometer ++ from Wiesemann & Theis is a state-of-the-art solution for precise temperature and humidity measurement in demanding scenarios. With its drift-free humidity sensor, integrated data logger, and full network capabilities, it provides a flexible and reliable solution for climate chamber monitoring, food production, laboratory technology, and outdoor use. Support for modern protocols such as OPC UA, REST, and MQTT, along with integration into the W&T Cloud, make it ideal for Industry 4.0 requirements. Whether for energy optimization, measurement logging, or dew point–based damage prevention, this device is an indispensable tool for professional users.
