The HW group Ares 12 is an industrial device for remote monitoring and alarm notification via GSM, designed for sites without LAN access. It features an internal battery for power-failure backup and supports the connection of up to 14 external sensors as well as 2 digital dry-contact inputs for detectors.
The Ares 12 continuously monitors the readings of connected sensors. When a value reaches the alarm threshold, the device sends an email, an SMS, or calls predefined telephone numbers. The SensDesk portal can be used to configure the Ares, send alarms, and display measured values in graphs. The firmware can be updated remotely via FOTA (Firmware Over The Air), making the Ares 12 ideal for large-scale installations.

The Ares 12 connects to the Internet exclusively via GSM/GPRS, making it suitable for locations without a network connection.
GSM/GPRS modem
Quad-band GSM/GPRS modem (850/900/1800/1900 MHz, GPRS Class 10/8) for worldwide cellular connectivity (SIM card not included).
14x 1-Wire / 1-Wire UNI (RJ11)
Connection for up to 14 sensors via an RJ11 bus (maximum total length: 60 m), for example temperature, humidity, current, voltage, or water leak detection.
2x DI with S0 pulse counter
Two digital inputs (dry contact, NO/NC) with 32-bit pulse counters that retain their values even during a power outage—ideal for electricity, gas, or water meters.
Internal battery backup
Rechargeable Li-Ion battery (1300 mAh) bridges power outages for up to 24 hours.
5x email / 5x SMS + call
Alarm notification by calling and sending text messages to up to 5 telephone numbers, as well as emails to up to 5 addresses; alternatively through the SensDesk portal.
Remote configuration & FOTA
Configuration locally via USB or remotely through the "AresConf" tab in the SensDesk portal; over-the-air firmware updates for large-scale installations.

The HWg-Ares 12 is available either as a base unit only or as a complete starter kit with accessories.
Please note: The "HWg-Ares 12 plain" base unit does not include a power supply, antenna, or sensors. Only the "HWg-Ares 12 Tset" version includes the complete starter kit with accessories. The option must be selected before adding the product to the shopping cart.

How the HWg-Ares 12 is designed
The robust metal enclosure is compact, measuring approximately 76 x 93 x 31 mm (W x H x D) and weighing about 150 g. It has an IP40 protection rating and is designed for operating temperatures from 5°C to 50°C.

SIM card slot with external GSM antenna
A SIM card slot and a connector for the quad-band GSM antenna (3 m, included with the Tset) establish the cellular connection.
2x RJ11 sensor connections ("Sensors")
Two RJ11 ports for 1-Wire and 1-Wire UNI sensors, allowing up to 14 sensors in total to be connected via a bus with a maximum length of 60 m.
DI terminals (IN1, IN2)
Two screw terminals for digital inputs (NO/NC dry contacts) with pulse-counter functionality, for example for detectors or meters; the right-hand terminal can be connected to 12V GND. Maximum cable length: 50 m.
Power supply (9–30V) with battery backup
Power is supplied through a barrel connector socket (Ø 2.1/5.5 mm) or a terminal block with 9–30 V DC (approximately 250 mA for each connection method). An internal rechargeable Li-Ion battery bridges power outages for up to 24 hours. The Tset includes a matching universal power supply (US, EU, UK).
USB connection and status LEDs
The USB connection (cable included with the Tset) enables the device to be configured directly from a PC without additional software. LEDs on the front of the device indicate power, modem, and alarm status.
Long-term storage and integration with third-party systems
The Ares 12 stores measurement values locally, even when the connection is interrupted.

A sensor value outside the defined safe range or a status change at a DI input triggers an alarm by email or "SMS + call", or activates a relay using the optional "Relay Output 1-Wire UNI" accessory.

The Ares 12 sends alarms directly through the cellular network—independently of an on-site Internet connection.
Standalone device alarms
Email to up to 5 addresses (SMTP with TLS), as well as SMS messages and voice calls to up to 5 telephone numbers directly from the device.
Portal alarms (SensDesk)
Alarm notification and reporting can be implemented entirely through the SensDesk portal, including alarm reminders and periodic status reports.
Relay outputs via accessories
With the optional "Relay Output 1-Wire UNI" module, up to 4 relay outputs (up to 50V/1000mA) can be remotely controlled.

The Ares 12 can be configured locally via USB, without additional software, or remotely through the SensDesk portal.
