HWg-Ares 12 - Robust remote monitoring

The HWg-Ares 12 is a state-of-the-art solution for remote monitoring of environmental conditions in areas without LAN access. This industrial device uses GSM/GPRS networks to collect and transmit data from up to 14 external sensors and two dry contact detectors.

Thanks to its robust construction and the integrated backup battery, which allows up to 24 hours of operation, the HWg-Ares 12 is ideal for demanding applications in industry, logistics, and the IoT sector.

The two variants, HWg-Ares 12 Plain and HWg-Ares 12 Tset, offer flexible deployment options that can be adapted to different needs.

Package Contents of the Variants

  • HWg-Ares 12 Plain: Includes the base unit with 14x 1-Wire UNI/1-Wire inputs, 2x digital inputs with S0 pulse counters, internal battery, and USB cable for configuration. No additional accessories.
  • HWg-Ares 12 Tset: Includes the base unit (as in the Plain model) as well as a temperature sensor (3 m cable, extendable up to 60 m), a quad-band GSM antenna (3 m), a universal power adapter (US, EU, UK), and a mounting plate for easy installation.

Versatile Monitoring for Demanding Environments

The HWg-Ares 12 is specifically designed for environments where reliable temperature monitoring and the recording of other environmental parameters such as humidity, lighting, voltage (0-60 V), current (4-20 mA), or water flood (1D/2D) are required.

With its ability to connect up to 14 sensors, including precise temperature sensors and outdoor temperature sensors, the device is ideal for use in server rooms, warehouses, cold chains, data centers, or even mobile IoT applications. The two digital inputs with 32-bit pulse counters enable the recording of S0 pulses, which can be used, for example, for cost analysis of energy consumption.

Intelligent Alarm Functions

As soon as a sensor value exceeds a predefined threshold or a dry contact is triggered, the HWg-Ares 12 immediately sends notifications.

These can be sent as up to five emails, SMS, or “SMS+Call” alerts to up to five recipients. Alternatively, a relay can be activated via the optional “Relay Output 1-Wire UNI” module to control external devices.

This feature makes the HWg-Ares 12 particularly suitable for applications where quick responses to environmental changes are crucial, such as in the food or pharmaceutical industries.

Seamless Integration and Data Management

A key element of the HWg-Ares 12 is its compatibility with the SensDesk portal, a user-friendly platform that offers real-time dashboards and data visualizations. Through this portal, users can view sensor data in charts up to two years in the past, configure alarms, and remotely control the device.

Data transmission takes place via the HWg-Push protocol, which is optimized for cost-efficient use of the GSM/GPRS network. Alternatively, data can be sent as email attachments or downloaded via USB. With the free HWg-PDMS software, S0 pulses can be converted into costs per time unit and exported to MS Excel, making analysis and documentation easier.

Flexibility for Developers and Large Installations

The HWg-Ares 12 supports developers through the HWg-SDK, which provides examples for programming languages such as Borland C++, MS Visual, VB, C#, PHP, and JAVA. This integration enables connection to third-party software such as SCADA systems, making the HWg-Ares 12 ideal for complex IoT projects. Thanks to the FOTA (Firmware Over The Air) function, firmware updates can be performed remotely, greatly simplifying the management of large installations with hundreds of devices. The compact design (76 x 93 x 28 mm) allows for easy wall mounting or installation on a DIN rail.

The robust construction and internal battery ensure reliable operation even under difficult conditions.
