Pt100 Probe TR125 2m – Temperature Sensor

The Pt100 low-temperature probe for highest precision down to -190°C

The HW group Probe Pt100 TR125 2m is a temperature probe based on a Pt100/B measuring element, specially designed for very low temperatures. It covers a measuring range of -190°C to +150°C. The measuring element is housed in a 50 mm long stainless steel shank (material 17240, DIN 1.4301) with protection class IP67 and is connected via a 2-metre shielded PTFE cable with 4 cores.

The probe can be connected in 2-, 3- or 4-wire technology as required, with the 3- or 4-wire configuration compensating for the influence of the line resistance and thus increasing the measuring accuracy. The Probe Pt100 TR125 2m complies with the ISO/IEC 17050-1 standard and is offered as a single version – there are no variants or options for this model.

Precise measurement of extremely low temperatures

The Probe Pt100 TR125 2m is specially designed for applications that require accurate detection of very low temperatures.

❄️

Measuring range -190°C to +150°C

Pt100/B platinum measuring element with an accuracy of ±0.3°C in the range from -50°C to +150°C and ±0.6°C in the range from -190°C to -50°C.

💧

Protection class IP67

The stainless steel shank of the measuring tip is fully protected against dust and temporary immersion according to EN 60529.

📏

0.1°C resolution

High measuring resolution of 0.1°C over the entire, very wide temperature range.

🔗

4-core PTFE cable

A 2-metre shielded PTFE cable (4 x 0.14 mm²) connects the measuring tip to the connection and allows the optional use of a 2-, 3- or 4-wire configuration.

🔌

RJ11 connection

The probe is equipped with an RJ11 connector for connection to a compatible converter module or device with Pt100 input.

🏭

Industrial-grade

Robust stainless steel shank, certified to ISO/IEC 17050-1, for use in demanding industrial environments.

How the Probe Pt100 TR125 2m is constructed

The probe consists of a measuring tip with stainless steel shank, a 2-metre PTFE cable and an RJ11 connection; it is designed for operating temperatures of -190°C to +150°C (0–100% RH) and a storage environment of -30°C to 60°C (5–95% RH). The total weight is approx. 64 g.

1

Pt100/B measuring tip in stainless steel shank

The actual measuring element is housed in a 50 mm long, 5 mm thick stainless steel shank (material 17240, DIN 1.4301) that can be placed directly into the extremely cold medium to be measured.

2

2-metre shielded PTFE cable

A high-quality, shielded 4-wire cable (4 x 0.14 mm²) with PTFE insulation connects the measuring tip to the connection. PTFE remains flexible and resistant even at extremely low temperatures.

3

RJ11 connector

At the cable end is an RJ11 connector for connection to a compatible converter module or a device with Pt100 input.

4

Flexible connection type

Thanks to the 4 cores, the probe can be connected in 2-, 3- or 4-wire technology as required; the 3- or 4-wire variant compensates for the influence of the line resistance and thus increases the measuring accuracy over longer cable runs.

Why a 2-, 3- or 4-wire configuration?

The choice of connection type directly influences the achievable measuring accuracy of the Pt100 resistance thermometer.

  • 2-wire connection: simplest configuration, but the line resistance affects the measurement result
  • 3-wire connection: compensates for the line resistance and is the common standard for industrial applications
  • 4-wire connection: highest achievable accuracy, as the line resistance is completely calculated out
  • All three variants are possible with the same probe thanks to the 4-core cable design

Installation in a few steps

The Probe Pt100 TR125 2m is connected via its RJ11 connection to a compatible converter module or device.

  1. Position the measuring tip at the desired low-temperature measuring point
  2. Depending on the desired accuracy, select the appropriate connection type (2-, 3- or 4-wire) on the converter module or device
  3. Connect the RJ11 plug of the probe to the corresponding Pt100 input
  4. Configure and name the probe on the device or converter
  5. If required, set alarm limits for the measured value

Practical application examples

  • Applications that require accurate measurement of very low temperatures
  • Cryogenic processes and liquid gas applications
  • Deep-freeze and cold storage facilities with extremely low temperatures
  • Scientific and industrial laboratories
💡

Practical example: In a cryogenic laboratory where samples are stored at temperatures close to -190°C, the Probe Pt100 TR125 2m with 3-wire connection is used to ensure a precise, line-resistance-compensated measurement even over the 2-metre cable length. The robust stainless steel shank reliably withstands direct contact with the extremely cold media.

Frequently asked questions

What is the HW group Probe Pt100 TR125 2m and what is it used for?

The Probe Pt100 TR125 2m is a high-precision Pt100/B low-temperature probe with a measuring range of -190°C to +150°C. It is suitable for applications that require accurate detection of very low temperatures, for example in cryogenics, with liquid gases or in deep-freeze storage facilities.

Are there different variants or options?

No. The Probe Pt100 TR125 2m is offered as a single version with a 2-metre cable. There are no variants or options for this model.

How accurately does the probe measure?

The Pt100/B measuring element achieves an accuracy of ±0.3°C in the range from -50°C to +150°C and ±0.6°C in the particularly demanding range from -190°C to -50°C, with a resolution of 0.1°C.

Which connection types does the probe support?

Thanks to the 4-core cable, the probe can be connected in 2-, 3- or 4-wire technology as required. The 3- or 4-wire configuration is recommended to compensate for the influence of the line resistance and thus achieve higher measuring accuracy.

Does the probe have its own converter?

No. The Probe Pt100 TR125 2m supplies a pure Pt100 resistance signal via its RJ11 connection and requires a separate, compatible converter module or a device with a corresponding Pt100 input.

Can the probe be calibrated?

According to the manufacturer, the Probe Pt100 TR125 2m is supplied without factory calibration points (“Calibrated Points: None”). Additional calibration is not provided as standard for this model.

Is the probe suitable for harsh environments?

Yes. The stainless steel shank of the measuring tip meets protection class IP67 according to EN 60529 and is therefore protected against dust and temporary immersion. The PTFE cable also remains flexible and resistant even at extremely low temperatures.
