The Pt-100 low-temperature sensor with 1-Wire-UNI output
The HW group Temp-1W-UNI Pt100 Frost is a Pt-100-based low-temperature sensor with a 1-Wire-UNI output. It includes a Pt-100 temperature probe (-190°C to +150°C, PTFE-sheathed cable, 2 m, Pt100/B) and a 1-Wire-UNI converter (Converter 2xPt100 1W-UNI). A second Pt-100 or Pt-1000 probe can be connected to the converter.
The converter automatically detects Pt100 and Pt1000 probes and supports the connection of external probes with 2, 3 or 4 wires. The measured values can be transmitted via a connected Poseidon2, Ares or Perseus device over LAN or GSM/LTE.
Precise low-temperature measurement from -190°C to +150°C
The Temp-1W-UNI Pt100 Frost provides two measured values via the 1-Wire-UNI bus and is particularly suitable for very low temperatures.
Pt-100 probe (-190°C to +150°C)
Supplied Pt-100 probe (class Pt100/B) with PTFE-sheathed 2 m cable, suitable for very low temperatures down to -190°C.
2nd probe connection (Pt100/Pt1000)
The integrated Converter 2xPt100 1W-UNI allows the connection of a second Pt-100 or Pt-1000 probe with automatic detection.
2/3/4-wire connection
External probes can be connected with 2, 3 or 4 wires as required; the 4-wire connection offers the highest measurement accuracy, especially with longer cables.
Daisy-chain via 2x RJ11
Two RJ11 connections on the converter allow further 1-Wire sensors to be chained on the same bus.
8-point calibration
The converter can be calibrated at 8 points along the measuring curve; calibration protocols for a specific probe are available at an additional cost.
Bus-powered
Powered directly via the 1-Wire-UNI bus (RJ11), no separate power supply required.
How the Temp-1W-UNI Pt100 Frost is designed
The converter housing measures approximately 79 x 68 x 30 mm (W x H x D) and weighs about 197 g, with an IP23 protection rating. Operating conditions: -30°C to +85°C at 0–100 % RH (storage: -30°C to +60°C, 5–95 % RH).
Pt-100 probe with PTFE cable
The supplied Pt-100 probe (Pt100/B) is equipped with a PTFE-sheathed 2 m cable and measures temperatures from -190°C to +150°C.
Converter housing with 2x 4-pin terminal block
The converter has two 4-pin terminal blocks (channel 1: pins 1–4, channel 2: pins 5–8) for connecting up to two Pt100 or Pt1000 probes in 2-, 3- or 4-wire technology.
2x RJ11 (1-Wire UNI)
Two RJ11 connections link the converter to a compatible HW group device (Poseidon2, Ares, Poseidon 2250, Poseidon 4002, SiteMon5) and allow daisy-chaining of further sensors. Maximum cable length: 60 m from the active port.
Power supply via the 1-Wire-UNI bus
The converter is supplied with 5 V via the 1-Wire-UNI bus and requires approximately 20 mA. One active RJ11 port can supply a maximum of two converters; for power boosting, the manufacturer recommends the “1-Wire hub Power”.
No galvanic isolation
The 1-Wire-UNI bus is not electrically isolated from the temperature probes; appropriate precautions must be taken when wiring.

For a class A Pt100 element, for example, the overall accuracy is ±0.55°C at 0°C, ±0.75°C at 100°C and ±2.25°C at 700°C (in each case at a converter temperature of +25°C) – the overall accuracy is made up of the converter and probe precision.
Which devices are supported

The Temp-1W-UNI Pt100 Frost is detected and configured directly via the connected HW group device.
- Connect the Pt-100 probe to the converter (already pre-wired in the scope of delivery)
- Optional: connect a second Pt-100 or Pt-1000 probe in 2-, 3- or 4-wire technology to the second channel
- Connect the converter via RJ11 cable to a compatible Poseidon2, Ares, Poseidon 2250, Poseidon 4002 or SiteMon5 device
- Optional: connect further 1-Wire sensors in series via the second RJ11 port
- Have the probes automatically detected by the connected device and configure them via its web interface

Practical example: In a deep-freeze facility, the supplied Pt-100 probe of the Temp-1W-UNI Pt100 Frost is connected via three wires and linked to a Poseidon2 3266 device. The second channel of the converter additionally measures the temperature in an adjacent storage room via a Pt1000 probe with 2-wire connection. The Poseidon2 device sends an e-mail or SMS as soon as one of the two temperatures leaves the defined safe range.

No. External Pt100 and Pt1000 probes are connected via the Converter 2xPt100 1W-UNI. This converter cannot be used with Poseidon1 products or with HWg-STE (incl. HWg-STE PoE) and HWg-STE plus web thermometers.
Can I use the converter with only one Pt-1000 or Pt-100 probe?
Yes. The second channel then either displays -999.9 (as an indication of an unconnected probe) or switches off automatically.
Is there a difference between 2-wire and 4-wire connection?
Yes, the 4-wire connection enables the most accurate measurement. The difference is particularly noticeable with longer cables.
Can I connect any Pt-100 or Pt-1000 probes?
Yes. Both original PT100 probes from HW group and other commercially available Pt100 or Pt1000 temperature probes can be used.
Which devices show strange values such as 5000°C – what is the cause?
In this case, the wiring and connection of the Pt-100 or Pt-1000 probe should be checked according to the instructions. In particular, it should be verified whether the jumper connectors on unused terminals are set correctly.
