Meter 3f PRO380-Mb 100A M-Bus – Three-phase meter

The MID-certified three-phase energy meter with M-Bus

The HW group Meter 3f PRO380-Mb 100A M-Bus is a static three-phase direct measurement energy meter for up to 100 A with M-Bus interface. It measures and displays a range of instantaneous values, including voltage, current, active power, reactive power, apparent power, mains frequency and power factor – part of these on the LCD display, additional values via M-Bus.

MID-compliant for billing purposes: The PRO380-Mb complies with the Measuring Instruments Directive (MID) 2014/32/EU. This MID approval confirms the accuracy and quality of the meter and permits its use for billing purposes, such as consumption-based cost distribution in multi-tenant buildings.

For direct measurement up to 100 A: The meter is connected directly into the circuit (no current transformer required) and covers a rated current range of 3x230V/400V at up to 100 A. The PRO380 series is also available as a standard version, as a 2-tariff variant, and with M-Bus and pulse output.

How the PRO380-Mb is constructed

The PRO380-Mb is housed in a flame-retardant PC plastic casing and designed for mounting on a 35 mm DIN rail.

1

Housing and front cover

The housing consists of flame-retardant PC plastic with a transparent, colored protective cover over the connection terminals. The device weighs approximately 0.39 kg and snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail.

2

LCD display with two lines

A multifunctional 8-digit LCD display shows the respective measured value in the upper line and the unit, phase and/or direction in the lower line. A blue backlight can be permanently switched on, off, or activated via button.

3

Two control buttons

Two buttons on the front are used to scroll through display pages and configure the device. Depending on the duration of pressing (1, 3 or 5 seconds), pages are scrolled, a menu is called up, or a setting is confirmed.

4

Red status LED

A red LED on the front panel flashes proportionally to the measured energy flow – 10,000 pulses per kWh. The faster it flashes, the more power is currently flowing through the meter.

5

Connection terminals L1–L3 and N

On the input and output side there are terminals for phases L1, L2, L3 and the neutral conductor N, through which the meter is connected directly into the circuit (through-wiring).

6

S0 pulse outputs

Two galvanically isolated open-collector outputs (terminals 18/19 for forward and 20/21 for reverse pulses) output energy consumption proportionally as pulses, for remote reading or accuracy verification.

7

M-Bus/Modbus communication terminals

Digital communication via M-Bus according to EN13757-3 takes place via terminals 22/23.

8

External tariff input

An external 230V AC voltage can be applied to terminals 24/25 to switch between the two tariffs T1 and T2.

9

Infrared eye

Via an optical infrared interface (protocol IEC62056-21:2002), the meter can be read and configured by direct contact with an optional infrared reading head and PC software.

What the PRO380-Mb displays

The meter displays a variety of instantaneous values, individually per phase and as a total value.
