MID-certified energy meter for three-phase power monitoring
The HW group PRO380-Mod 0.25-100A ModBus MID is a three-phase energy meter with RS485 Modbus interface. The PRO380 displays numerous instantaneous values such as voltage, current, active power, reactive power, apparent power, frequency and power factor on the LCD display and also provides some of them via Modbus. The PRO380-Mod complies with the Measuring Instruments Directive 2014/32/EU (MID). This MID approval confirms the accuracy and quality of the meter and enables its use for billing purposes.
The meter measures directly in a three-phase 230/400 V network up to 100 A and also has an S0 pulse output in addition to the Modbus interface.
Precise three-phase measurement with Modbus connectivity
The PRO380-Mod is designed for direct measurement of three-phase circuits up to 100 A.
MID-certified
The meter complies with the Measuring Instruments Directive 2014/32/EU and is therefore suitable for use for billing purposes.
Direct measurement up to 100 A
The meter measures the current in the three-phase 230/400 V network directly, without an external current transformer.
RS485 Modbus interface
Via the integrated RS485 interface, the measured values can be read out using Modbus RTU and the meter can be configured.
Additional S0 output
In addition to the Modbus interface, the PRO380-Mod has an S0 pulse output for remote reading or accuracy testing.
LCD display with instantaneous values
Voltage, current, active, reactive and apparent power, frequency and power factor are displayed per phase directly on the device.
How the PRO380-Mod is designed
The housing of the PRO380-Mod is designed for mounting on a 35 mm DIN rail and is connected via screw terminals. Depending on the network type (3P4W, 3P3W Open Delta/Aron, 3P3W Delta or 1P2W), the terminals are assigned differently.
Connection terminals for the three phases and the neutral conductor
Terminals L1, L2 and L3 each carry phase input and output, terminal N the neutral conductor. In direct 3P4W measurement (three-phase network with neutral), all three phases and the neutral are looped through; in delta or Aron configurations (3P3W) the neutral connection is omitted, in single-phase operation (1P2W) only L1 is used.
RS485 Modbus connection
Via terminals 22 and 23 (A/B), the meter is connected via the RS485 bus to a Modbus RTU master system, through which the measured values can be read out and settings can be made.
S0 pulse outputs
Terminals 18/19 (forward) and 20/21 (reverse) provide potential-free S0 pulse outputs, via which energy consumption can be read out proportionally as a pulse sequence, e.g. for testing or remote reading purposes.
External tariff input
Via terminals 24/25 an external 230 V AC voltage can be applied to switch between tariff T1 and T2 when the meter is operated as a dual-tariff meter.
LCD display and control buttons
On the front, a two-line LCD display shows values, unit, phase and energy direction. Using two buttons, you can scroll through the display pages and configure the meter directly on the device (e.g. scroll time, backlight, Modbus ID, combination code).
Infrared interface
In addition, the meter has an infrared interface according to IEC62056-21 (IEC1107), via which it can be read out and programmed with an optical IR reading head and the associated PC software.
Red status LED
A red LED on the front indicates the energy flow: it flashes proportionally to the measured power and thus serves as a quick visual check of whether and how much energy is flowing. In addition, the display shows per phase whether the energy is flowing forward (FW) or reverse (RV).
Extensive measurement and configuration functions
In addition to pure energy measurement, the PRO380-Mod offers further useful functions that can be set directly on the device or via Modbus.
Automatic scroll
The display automatically switches between the programmed display pages; the scroll time can be set individually.
Combination code
The total energy can optionally be calculated and displayed from forward, reverse or a combination of both energy directions, also per phase.
Resettable daily counter
An additional user-resettable meter reading allows simple recording of consumption over a specific period.
2-tariff function
Via the external tariff input, switching between two tariffs (T1/T2) is possible, whose energy values are recorded separately.
Password protection
The advanced configuration mode is protected by a four-digit password to prevent unauthorized changes.
Power failure counter and diagnostic display
A power-down counter records voltage failures; a diagnostic display reports program, EEPROM and phase status.
