The standalone water leak detector for two sensor cable zones

The HW group WLD-ECHO is a compact, standalone water leak detector for external WLD sensor cables of type A or B. It monitors two independent sensor cable zones with a total length of up to 185 m per zone and detects even a few drops of conductive liquid at any point along the cable.

Unlike the network-capable WLD devices from HW group (such as WLD2 or NB-WLD), the WLD-ECHO operates completely independently, without any portal or network connection: It warns directly on site via an alarm tone and flashing LED, and additionally switches a potential-free relay output through which the alarm can be integrated into existing security or building management systems.

The WLD-ECHO can be powered either by 2 AA batteries or via an external 12 V DC power supply, allowing flexible installation in data centers, server rooms, and other technical rooms. Detection does not require standing water levels and therefore works very quickly; additionally, the device also reports a break or damage to the sensor cable. The second zone can be deactivated if not needed.

How the WLD-ECHO is constructed

The housing measures 76 × 35 × 144 mm (W×H×D) and consolidates all connections clearly on one side of the housing.

Available as base unit or complete set

The WLD-ECHO is available either as a pure device or as a complete starter set with sensor cable, batteries, and power supply.

How a WLD zone is set up

Each of the two zones of the WLD-ECHO monitors a continuous sensor cable that must be terminated at its end.

• A zone detects water along the entire cable length and triggers a common alarm for the whole zone
• The maximum zone length is 185 m, including non-sensing extension cable
• WLD sensor cable type A is available in 2 m, 10 m, or 50 m
• WLD sensor cable type B is available in 2 m, 5 m, 10 m, or 50 m
• A terminator must be placed at the end of each sensor cable for the zone to function correctly
• The WLD-Connecting cable AB and WLD-Extension cable AB are used to connect sensor cable to device or to extend the zone

Installation in a few steps

1. Select the desired set (base unit or complete package) when ordering
2. Place the device at the desired location on a table or mount it on the wall
3. Connect the sensor cable to the desired zone(s) via the connection cable and terminate with the terminator
4. Deactivate the unused second zone via the DIP switch if necessary
5. Insert batteries or connect external 12 V supply
6. Connect the relay output to an alarm system or other monitoring system if required
