Backup Power Supply Module

Reliable Backup Power Supply for Didactum Monitoring Systems

The backup power supply is an indispensable extension module for anyone who values maximum fail-safety and system availability for their monitoring solutions.

Continuous monitoring plays a central role, especially in critical IT infrastructures, data centers, industrial plants, and building management. A power outage here can not only lead to data loss or system failures, but also to serious security risks. With the backup power supply from Didactum, such scenarios can be effectively avoided.

Installation and Integration into Didactum Devices

The installation of the backup power supply is extremely simple and user-friendly. The module is specifically designed for seamless integration into Didactum monitoring systems such as the Didactum Monitoring System 500T, Didactum Monitoring System 550T, as well as for PDUs (Power Distribution Units).

It is inserted directly into the corresponding monitoring device and connected via the designated slots. Thanks to plug-and-play technology, the Didactum monitoring system automatically detects the extension module, so no complicated configuration is required.

Before installation, it should be ensured that only the recommended Li-Ion batteries of type 14500 800 2.5A BUTTON TOPXTAR are used. These batteries offer an optimal combination of capacity, safety, and durability.

After inserting the batteries, the module is firmly connected to the monitoring device.

Another advantage: The backup power supply can be easily combined with other extension modules and sensors. This keeps the monitoring system flexible and allows it to be adapted to new requirements at any time. In the event of a power failure, the power supply of the entire system—including all connected sensors and extensions—is reliably maintained.

Functionality and Advantages in Detail

During normal operation, the batteries of the backup power supply are continuously charged via the main power supply. If there is a failure or interruption of the power supply, the module automatically and seamlessly switches to battery operation. This ensures that the Didactum monitoring system remains active and can continue to supply all connected sensors, such as temperature, humidity, smoke, or dust particle sensors, with power. Once the main power supply is restored, the batteries are automatically recharged so that they are ready for the next use.

The bridging time of the backup power supply depends on the number and power consumption of the connected sensors and extensions. It ranges from about 8 minutes at maximum load to 8 hours at lower load. This makes the module suitable for both short power outages and longer interruptions, such as those that can occur during maintenance work or network problems.

Another plus: The status of the backup power supply can be viewed at any time via the web interface of the Didactum monitoring system. Warning messages for low battery or technical problems are automatically generated and can be sent to the responsible personnel via email, SMS, or SNMP trap. This ensures operational safety at all times, even in emergencies.

Areas of Application and Practical Advantages

  • The backup power supply is ideal for all areas where continuous monitoring is essential:
  • Data centers and server rooms: Protection against data loss and failures, ensuring environmental monitoring even in the event of a power outage.
  • Industrial plants: Maintaining the monitoring of machines, production processes, and critical infrastructure.
  • Building management: Ensuring the function of fire alarm, climate control, and access control systems.
  • IT infrastructure: Maximum system availability and fail-safety for all monitoring applications.

By using the backup power supply in combination with Didactum monitoring systems and PDU solutions, the highest level of fail-safety and flexibility is achieved.

The emergency power supply protects not only the hardware but also the integrity of the collected data and the security of the entire infrastructure. The backup power supply from Didactum is an essential extension module for any professional monitoring system.

It offers reliable emergency power supply, easy integration, flexible expandability, and maximum security for critical applications in IT, industry, and building technology. With the right choice of batteries and professional installation, your monitoring system will always be ready for use, even in an emergency.
