COMET KIT-GSM – Industrial GSM Modem with RS232/USB
The COMET KIT-GSM is a professional industrial GSM modem (type GSM-BGS5-E2N) in a robust aluminum enclosure designed for use in control cabinets, machinery, and harsh environments. Featuring the powerful Cinterion BGS5 module (Quad-band GSM/GPRS), it enables reliable remote monitoring, alarming, data transfer, and M2M communication via mobile networks – ideal for locations without Ethernet or Wi-Fi access.
The modem provides two communication ports: RS232 (up to 921600 bps) and USB 2.0 (Micro-USB) – both with configurable hardware watchdogs. Thanks to the integrated JAVA Open Platform (2 MB RAM + 4 MB Flash), you can run custom applications directly on the modem, such as data logging, protocol conversion, or automated queries. The modem supports TCP/UDP Client/Server, FTP, HTTP, DNS, Ping, and more.
The durable aluminum housing with optional DIN rail mount is built for continuous industrial use. It can be powered by an external supply (7–33 V DC) or directly via USB. The integrated Nano-SIM card slot and SMA antenna connector (50 Ω) make it ready for immediate operation. LED indicators for Power, RS232, and GSM status provide quick information on the operating state.

Installation & commissioning – ready in minutes
Install the modem in a control cabinet (optional DIN rail mounting), connect power (7–33 V DC or USB), RS232/USB and antenna, insert a Nano-SIM – and it’s ready. Configure via RS232/USB with AT commands or upload your own JAVA applications. The LED indicators immediately show status and connection state.
