The COMET SD280 (SD-283ST) is a professional optical smoke detector with an integrated heat sensor – the reliable solution for early fire detection in residential and commercial buildings. The detector combines an optical smoke sensor (light scattering principle) with a heat sensor (Class A1) for maximum detection accuracy: it responds sensitively to dense smoke and also detects smouldering fires with minimal smoke through temperature rise (+60 to +65 °C).

When an alarm is triggered, the relay output activates along with an LED indicator and a loud acoustic alarm. The detector is primarily powered by 12 V DC (e.g., via power supply) but can also operate autonomously using 3 × AA batteries (not included) if external power fails – perfect for uninterrupted safety operation.

The SD280 is designed for indoor use, minimizes false alarms through digital signal processing, and complies with EN 14604 and EN 54-7/5 standards. The relay output allows easy integration with alarm systems, building automation, or COMET Multiloggers (M13xx series, see manual).
