Sensor adapter

AKCP Sensor Adapter (SEN-A) – Universal Third-Party Sensor Integration

The Sensor Adapter from AKCP revolutionizes the integration of third-party sensors into professional monitoring systems. This innovative solution enables the seamless connection of sensors with 0–10 VDC output signals and dry contact interfaces, significantly expanding existing monitoring infrastructures.

Versatile Sensor Integration for Maximum Flexibility

The SEN-A Sensor Adapter serves as a universal interface between various analog sensors and AKCP monitoring systems. With its ability to integrate sensors with 0–10 VDC output voltage, it opens up unlimited possibilities for expanding existing industrial monitoring systems.

The AutoSense function automatically detects the connected sensor type and configures the appropriate parameters. This greatly simplifies installation and reduces configuration errors. A convenient side switch allows quick switching between voltage input and dry contact I/O, ensuring maximum flexibility in sensor selection.

Technical Specifications and Connection Options

The adapter features a 3-pole Phoenix connector, optimized for various application scenarios:

  • Voltage Input Configuration: Signal, 5V, and GND for integrating analog sensors with 0–10 VDC output.
  • Dry Contact Configuration: Dry Contact, 5V, and GND for connecting digital switch contacts and relays.

A special feature is the integrated 5V power supply with up to 0.2A output. This function enables direct powering of third-party sensors that require an external power supply, making additional power adapters unnecessary.

Advanced Communication and Installation Options

Communication is via an RJ-45 port with standard UTP CAT5e/6 cables. With a maximum cable length of 50 feet (15 meters), the system offers significant flexibility in sensor positioning. Power is supplied entirely by the controller unit, eliminating the need for additional power sources.

The extremely low power consumption of typically only 50 mW (10 mA) makes the adapter ideal for energy-efficient installations. This efficiency allows the operation of multiple adapters without noticeably burdening the main power supply.

Robust Design for Industrial Applications

With compact dimensions of 56 x 55 x 33.3 mm, the Sensor Adapter fits perfectly into existing installations. DIN rail mounting and screw mounting offer flexible installation options for various industrial environments.

The use of highly integrated, energy-saving surface-mount technology ensures long-term reliability even under extreme conditions. The operating temperature range of -35°C to 80°C and humidity tolerance of 20% to 80% (non-condensing) make the system suitable for a wide range of application environments.

Practical Application Areas and Sensor Types

The Sensor Adapter opens up numerous possibilities for integrating various analog sensors:

  • Temperature Monitoring: Connection of precision temperature sensors with 0–10V output for critical environmental monitoring.
  • Pressure Monitoring: Integration of pressure transducers for monitoring hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Humidity Measurement: Connection of analog humidity sensors for climate monitoring in sensitive areas.
  • Level Measurement: Connection of level sensors for tank and container monitoring.
  • Vibration Measurement: Integration of vibration sensors for preventive maintenance of rotating machinery.

Dry Contact Integration for Digital Signals

The dry contact I/O functionality greatly expands the application possibilities:

  • Alarm Integration: Direct connection of alarm contacts from existing security systems.
  • Status Monitoring: Monitoring of machine states via relay contacts.
  • Switch Monitoring: Monitoring of manual switches and pushbuttons for operational status detection.
  • Door Contacts: Integration of door and window contacts for security monitoring.

System Integration and Compatibility

The Sensor Adapter is fully compatible with the AKCP sensorProbe+ family and significantly extends its functionality. Plug-and-play installation enables rapid integration without complex configurations.

The lack of galvanic isolation makes the adapter particularly cost-effective, but careful planning is required during installation in environments with high electromagnetic interference.

Future-Proof Investment in Monitoring Technology

The AKCP Sensor Adapter represents a cost-effective solution for expanding existing monitoring systems. By enabling the integration of virtually any analog sensor with 0–10 VDC output, it offers maximum flexibility for future extensions.

The combination of third-party sensor integration, dry contact functionality, and robust industrial design makes the SEN-A the ideal choice for demanding industrial monitoring systems.
