As a member of the proven sensorProbeX+ family, the SPX8-X20 supports all AKCP smartRack sensors. These include innovative solutions such as the Cabinet Thermal Map Sensor for detailed temperature analysis and RFID-based access controls for maximum security.

The system was designed for maximum flexibility and supports various installation types. In addition to standard 1U rack installation, customers can also opt for 0U mounting or DIN-rail installation. This versatility makes the SPX8-X20 an ideal solution for data centers, telecom rooms, industrial facilities, and other critical environments.
Intelligent Sensor Integration and Dry Contact Functionality
The SPX8-X20 is characterized by its 8 intelligent sensor ports, which allow direct connection to AKCP’s sensor ecosystem. Customers can choose from a wide variety of sensors, including temperature and humidity sensors, airflow sensors, smoke detectors, and water leak sensors. These sensors communicate digitally with the system and provide accurate real-time measurements.
The 20 dry contacts significantly extend monitoring capabilities. These dry contacts can be configured as inputs for external devices or as outputs for control purposes. Typical applications include monitoring door contacts, window switches, motion detectors, fire alarm systems, or industrial control systems. The contacts support various voltage levels and can operate with both 5VDC internal signals and external voltages up to 30V.

Licensing and Software Features
The SPX8-X20’s licensing system offers flexible extension options for specific requirements. The VPN functionality enables secure tunnel connections to central monitoring systems. Virtual sensors can be licensed in packs of 5, up to a total of 80 virtual sensors.
The Modbus integration allows incorporation of up to 4 external Modbus devices, each with 15 sensors. For enhanced access control, the user database can be expanded from 100 to 500 users. IPv6 support and RADIUS authentication complete the feature set.
Scalable Expansion Options
The SPX8-X20’s expansion architecture supports two different extension methods. The Basic Expansion Bus (BEB) allows connection of up to 2 additional SPX+ units within a total chain length of 18 meters. This solution is ideal for in-rack or in-cabinet expansion.
For longer distances, the RS485 expansion is available, enabling up to 300 meters between units. This configuration supports E-Sensor8 and E-Opto16 expansion units and offers maximum flexibility for sensor placement.
Technical Specifications and Performance Features
The compact dimensions of 427 mm width and 44 mm height allow space-saving installation in standard racks. The low-profile design supports various mounting options, from tool-free 0U rack to DIN-rail installation.
The system can manage up to 150 sensors simultaneously, including expansion and virtual sensors. The access control database supports 100 users by default and can be expanded to 500 users.
Status is indicated by multicolor LEDs for power, network, and sensor status. An integrated buzzer provides audible alarms for critical events.
