Raised floor monitoring
When the term raised floor is used, normal consumers often only think of underfloor heating. But a raised floor can also be found in many technical rooms. Many control rooms, battery rooms, electrical rooms, generator rooms, technical rooms, server rooms and data centers, etc. are equipped with a raised floor construction. This particular form of floor construction has also proven its worth in the production, laboratory and power plant sectors. Raised floors have also been used in salesrooms, offices, living rooms, conference rooms and hotels for many years. Recently, double floors with elaborate light construction can be found in many exhibition rooms and museums.
Benefits of a raised floor
Almost invisible, there are often power cables, network cables, heating pipes, water pipes, electrical connections and also ventilation pipes in the cavity under the raised floor. A raised floor also plays an important role in the air conditioning of server room and data center infrastructures, since the important cooling air is guided here.On the other hand, a raised floor in the clean room laboratory fulfills the enormously important function of the exhaust air duct.
Regular inspection is essential
Every raised floor construction must be inspected regularly. In many cases, an inspection of the raised floor is only carried out very rarely, since this is associated with effort. However, in most cases it is worth taking a close look through the access cover of the raised floor. so you can find larger amounts of dirt and dust there. If the raised floor fulfills a climate function, you will usually find large amounts of dirt and grime. House dust can also form a large dust mice along the cable and supply lines in the raised floor and severely impair the ventilation / air conditioning function.
Condensation in the raised floor
Important environmental factors such as temperature or relative humidity (RH) prevail in every room. A raised floor is also subject to these influences. If the environmental parameters of temperature and humidity are not in the optimal range, there is a risk of dew point formation. In the worst case, large amounts of water can accumulate unnoticed. If these puddles in the raised floor are not detected and reported early, massive trouble can arise. If condensate, moisture or water come into contact with power, the ultimate MCA threatens in the form of an electrical short circuit.
Remote monitoring and alerting
Monitor the raised floor with the proven remote monitoring & security solutions from manufacturer Didactum. Install the single-point water leak sensors in the raised floor. Larger raised floors can be secured by simply installing the tried and tested water leak detection cables. Also install these water leak cables along water pipes and sewage pipes. The installation is very easy. As soon as the water leak sensor or the water leak cable comes into contact with moisture, condensate, water or water-containing liquids, you and your colleagues will be alerted by the networked Didactum Monitoring System via email, SMS and / or SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol).
At the same time, the networked remote monitoring system can switch on sirens and forward the alert to the alarm system or building technology. The remote monitor can also report the water damage occurring in the raised floor to the central station / control center via SNMP commands. Each remote monitoring unit from manufacturer Didactum supports SNMPv1, v2c and the encrypted v3 protocol. An integrated alarm card with the floor plan of the monitored raised floor shows the critical sensor status of the water leak detector.
Other important sensors for the raised floor
Install the precise temperature and humidity sensors from Didactum in the raised floor. If there is a risk of dew point formation in the raised floor, the web-driven remote monitoring unit will inform you in good time. At the same time, you can measure and monitor the temperature in real time. All measurement data is saved in the integrated data logger. The airflow of the raised floor with climate function can be monitored remotely around the clock by installing the airflow sensor. If necessary, the SNMP-enabled smoke detector can be also installed in the raised floor.
