AKCP Firmware Update: Seamless BACnet/IP Integration for Modern Buildings
AKCP Introduces Firmware Update with BACnet Support
AKCP, the world-leading provider of environmental and power monitoring solutions, has recently released a firmware update for its product line. This update introduces native support for the BACnet/IP protocol, enabling seamless integration into building automation systems (BMS). This strengthens AKCP’s position as a trusted partner for data centers, telecommunications companies, and industrial facilities worldwide.
What is BACnet and why is it important?
BACnet (Building Automation and Control Network) is an open communication protocol specifically designed for building automation. It allows communication between different devices and systems within a building, such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, security, and fire protection systems. By integrating BACnet, different systems can work together efficiently, leading to better energy efficiency, cost reduction, and improved operational performance.
New Features of the AKCP Firmware Update
1. Native BACnet/IP Support
With the new firmware update, the AKCP sensorProbe+ series now natively supports the BACnet/IP protocol. This allows direct communication of sensor data—such as temperature, humidity, differential pressure, and performance parameters—with BACnet-compatible systems. No additional gateways or middleware are required, simplifying deployment and reducing integration costs.
2. Enhanced Visibility and Data Access
Integration into the BMS allows critical environmental data to be monitored in real time. This improves operational visibility and enables proactive maintenance before issues occur.
3. Reduced Costs and Complexity
Since no extra hardware components or protocol translators are needed, both implementation time and total operating costs are reduced.
4. Future Scalability
The update lays the foundation for future expansions and greater scalability, allowing AKCP products to be effectively used in growing and evolving infrastructures.
Availability and Licensing
The BACnet-enabled firmware update is now available for all compatible AKCP devices. Customers can download the firmware and access version documentation via the AKCP support portal. BACnet functionality is available as a software license and can be ordered via SKU: BAC.
About AKCP
AKCP has played a key role in data center design since the early 1980s. As the oldest and largest manufacturer of data center sensor solutions, AKCP has gained insight into the industry’s daily operations. Today, AKCP offers the world’s most advanced cooling solutions for data centers. By combining proprietary technologies, energy savings of up to 50–90% can be achieved—thanks to the combination of five key technologies resulting from 40 years of research and development.
