The 2-Wire Video Door Intercom for Retrofitting Existing Wiring
The Akuvox AV-E12S-2 is a single-button SIP video door intercom specifically designed for retrofitting existing 2-wire cabling. Many houses, apartments, and condominiums still have older 2-wire wiring from analog intercom systems, the replacement of which would be complex and expensive. The AV-E12S-2 makes exactly this existing 2-wire cabling usable to operate a modern, IP-based SIP intercom system – without having to lay any new cables.
A single 2-core cable simultaneously provides power and network connectivity for the device. To integrate it into an IP network, the 2-wire cabling is connected to the rest of the network via a suitable Akuvox 2-wire switch or adapter (e.g. NS-2 or NC-2). There is no classic Ethernet port on the door station itself, nor is there Wi-Fi.
The 2-megapixel camera delivers Full HD images, complemented by dual audio with echo cancellation, a built-in card reader, and Bluetooth 5.0 (BLE). The weatherproof IP65 housing makes the AV-E12S-2 suitable for both indoor and outdoor installation.

How the AV-E12S-2 Is Built
The housing of the AV-E12S-2 is deliberately kept minimalist so that the device blends unobtrusively next to any entrance door.

Front Panel with Camera and Doorbell Button
On the front of the device are the camera lens with a field of view of 123° horizontal and 69° vertical, a light sensor, a white light LED, and a single illuminated physical doorbell button.
Integrated Card Reader
Below the doorbell button is the 13.56 MHz NFC reader, which allows access cards or tags to be presented directly at the door station.
Microphone and Speaker
A discreetly integrated microphone and speaker in the housing handle the voice connection with dual-audio and anti-echo technology.
2-Wire Connector on the Rear
On the rear are the 2-wire connector for power and network, a door opener relay output, two inputs, a Wiegand interface, and a microSD card slot (TF card) for local storage.
Housing Tamper Protection
An integrated tamper alarm detects when the housing is forcibly removed from the wall or opened.
