Monitoring System 100T Bundle Rack Monitoring

Rack Monitoring Bundle: Climate and Access Monitoring Including Alarming and Rack Mounting

This Didactum bundle combines the Monitoring System 100T with temperature, humidity, and door contact sensors, an alarm siren with strobe light, and a matching 19" rack mount kit to form a complete rack monitoring solution. The bundle covers both climate monitoring and physical access security for a rack — including immediate visual and audible alarming in case of an incident.

The Monitoring System 100T forms the central control and alarming unit: it is integrated into the network via Ethernet, is fully configurable through a web browser, and requires no additional software. The temperature, humidity, and door contact sensors are connected directly to the analog ports, and the alarm siren is connected to the relay output — all components are automatically detected or immediately ready to control. The rack mount kit secures the central unit neatly and space-efficiently on 1 rack unit in the 19" server rack.

As your needs grow, so does this bundle: one analog port and the entire CAN bus port of the 100T remain free, so additional sensors or expansion units can be added at any time — without having to replace the central unit.

This bundle includes:

Six coordinated Didactum products that together form a complete rack monitoring solution with climate, access, and alarm functionality.

Monitoring System 100T

The central IP-based monitoring and alarming unit that collects and evaluates all sensor data and automatically raises an alarm when thresholds are exceeded.

Temperature Sensor

A precise analog sensor for continuously measuring the ambient temperature in the rack.

Humidity Sensor

A compact analog sensor for measuring relative humidity.

Door Contact Sensor

A magnetic contact sensor for monitoring the open/closed status of rack or room doors.

Alarm Siren with Strobe Light

An audible-visual alarm device that provides immediate on-site warning in critical events.

Rack Mount Kit for Device and Sensor Expansion

A 19" bracket for neatly mounting the Monitoring System 100T on 1 rack unit in the server rack.

Monitoring System 100T

The Monitoring System 100T is the central control unit of the bundle and the latest generation of Didactum's high-end monitoring systems, developed and manufactured in the European Union. It operates fully independently via an integrated web server, requires no additional software installation, and — thanks to its hardened Linux operating system and built-in watchdog — is designed for permanent 24/7 operation in critical environments such as server rooms, production facilities, or data centers. Four analog ports, a CAN bus port, and relay outputs allow sensors to be automatically detected and alarm devices such as sirens to be directly controlled, while integration into SNMP-, Modbus TCP/IP-, or Syslog-based monitoring landscapes such as Zabbix, PRTG, or Nagios works without additional effort. With 10/100/1000 Mbit/s Ethernet, an optional LTE modem, and either an OSDPv2 or Modbus/RTU expansion module, the 100T can be precisely tailored to the given infrastructure.

Temperature Sensor

The temperature sensor included in the bundle is used to precisely monitor and measure the internal temperature of the rack and is connected directly to an analog port of the Monitoring System 100T via an RJ11 connector. The device automatically detects the sensor, displays it in the web interface, and allows individual configuration of thresholds and notifications there. The sensor is wired, with a 2-meter cable included, and can be placed up to 100 meters away from the central unit if needed, making it suitable for racks in adjacent rooms as well. As the foundation of climate monitoring, it delivers reliable temperature data from the outset and forms the basis for automated cooling and alarm scenarios.

Humidity Sensor

The humidity sensor in the bundle complements the temperature sensor by measuring relative humidity and is likewise connected directly to the Monitoring System 100T via an analog port. With compact dimensions of just 60 × 18 × 18 mm and a power consumption of only 60 mW, it is space-saving and energy-efficient, allowing it to be mounted unobtrusively in the rack. Continuous humidity monitoring helps detect condensation risks early and ensures optimal conditions for sensitive IT equipment. Thanks to a connection cable that can optionally be extended up to 50 meters, the sensor can be flexibly placed wherever humidity actually needs to be monitored.

Alarm Siren with Strobe Light

The alarm siren with strobe light provides immediate audible and visual alarming directly at the rack in the bundle, as soon as one of the sensors reports a critical condition — such as an unauthorized open door, excessive temperature, or excessive humidity. It is connected via the included 3-meter cable directly to a 12V DC relay output of the Monitoring System 100T and is automatically activated in the event of an alarm. With a sound pressure of 108 dB and a red strobe light flashing at 2.5 Hz, it reliably draws attention even in larger or noisy environments. Thanks to IP54 protection rating and a robust ABS housing, it is also designed for permanent use in technical rooms.

Rack Mount Kit for Device and Sensor Expansion

The rack mount kit included in the bundle is a 19" bracket that allows the Monitoring System 100T to be mounted neatly and space-efficiently on just 1 rack unit (1U) in a standard server rack. This means the central unit no longer has to sit loose in the rack or be mounted separately on the wall, but is instead firmly and neatly integrated alongside the other rack components. In addition, the kit provides space for an analog sensor expansion unit, so the bundle can be expanded directly in the same rack slot as sensor requirements grow. This keeps all monitoring and alarm technology neatly bundled in one place and always easily accessible.

Comprehensive Sensor Integration for the Bundle

The Monitoring System 100T supports up to 100 sensors, contacts, and relays simultaneously — up to 36 sensors directly in the base configuration via the analog ports and the CAN bus. The temperature, humidity, and door contact sensors occupy three of the four analog ports in the bundle, and the alarm siren is controlled via a relay output — one analog port and the entire CAN bus port remain free for future expansion.

Temperature Sensor

Already included in the bundle: precise ambient temperature measurement with ±0.25 °C accuracy.

Humidity Sensor

Already included in the bundle: reliable relative humidity measurement with ±3% RH accuracy.

Door Contact Sensor

Already included in the bundle: rack door access monitoring via magnetic contact.

Alarm Siren

Already included in the bundle: immediate audible-visual on-site alarming.

Smoke & Water Sensors

Optionally retrofittable via the free port or CAN bus for additional fire and leak protection.

Vibration Sensors

Optionally retrofittable via the CAN bus for detecting shocks or tampering with the rack.

Thanks to the still-free analog port and the fully available CAN bus port, the bundle can be expanded at any time with additional Didactum sensors or expansion units — ideal for growing from solid basic rack monitoring into a comprehensive monitoring network.

Real-Time Monitoring and Automated Alarming

The Monitoring System 100T responds immediately to critical values from all sensors in the bundle. When thresholds are exceeded, the system automatically sends email notifications and SNMP traps and, if needed, activates the included alarm siren via the relay output. With an optionally installed LTE modem, SMS and web-to-SMS notifications are also possible. Integration into monitoring software such as Zabbix, PRTG, Nagios, or Check_MK is straightforward thanks to common network protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, FTP, SNMP, Syslog, Modbus TCP/IP, DHCP).

💡

Practical example: The door contact sensor reports an unauthorized opening of the rack door outside business hours. The system immediately activates the on-site alarm siren with strobe light, sends an email to the security team, and permanently logs the incident — potential intruders are thus immediately deterred.

Web-Based Control & Intelligent Automation

The multilingual web interface allows easy management of all bundle components as well as alarms and scenarios — right from initial setup.

  • Temperature > 30 °C → turn on ventilation, trigger alarm
  • Humidity > threshold → send email to administrator
  • Rack door opened → activate alarm siren, send notification
  • Alarm event overnight → additionally send SMS to security service (with optional LTE modem)

The Monitoring System 100T can be used as an I/O controller for air conditioning units, UPS systems, generators, lighting, or fans — ideal for IT environment management, building automation, and preventive maintenance.

Full Control

Control the central unit, climate sensors, access monitoring, and alarm siren together — all via an intuitive, web-based interface.

  • Monitor real-time data from temperature, humidity, and door contact sensors together
  • Create automated actions based on defined conditions
  • Send email, HTTP request, SNMP, or other notifications
  • Visualize trends and logs for better decisions
  • Manage users, permissions, and access securely across three levels

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in this bundle?

The bundle includes the Monitoring System 100T as the central monitoring and alarming unit, a temperature sensor, a humidity sensor, a door contact sensor, an alarm siren with strobe light, and a 19" rack mount kit for mounting the central unit in the server rack. All components are coordinated with each other and ready to use immediately after unpacking.

How is the alarm siren connected?

The alarm siren is not connected to an analog sensor port, but directly to a 12V DC relay output of the Monitoring System 100T via the included cable. In the web interface, you can then define which events — such as an open rack door or a critical temperature — automatically activate the siren.

Do I need to configure the sensors separately?

No. The temperature, humidity, and door contact sensors are connected to the monitoring system's analog ports via RJ11/RJ12 cable and are automatically detected there. Each measured value then appears as its own point in the web interface, for which you can set individual thresholds.

What options are available, and do I need to select them separately?

Two option groups are available for the Monitoring System 100T in the bundle: an expansion module (OSDPv2 reader or Modbus/RTU) and an optional LTE modem. These options are not automatically included in the base price and must be selected directly on the product page above the "Add to cart" button. Without an active selection, we ship the device in its standard configuration without an expansion module and without a modem.

Can I expand the bundle with additional sensors?

Yes. After connecting the temperature, humidity, and door contact sensors, one analog port is still available, and the entire CAN bus port of the 100T also remains unused. Up to 32 additional CAN devices can be connected via the CAN bus (24 recommended), such as additional smoke, water, or motion sensors.

How loud is the alarm siren, and what is it suitable for?

The alarm siren reaches a sound pressure of 108 dB and combines this with a red strobe light flashing at 2.5 Hz. This makes it particularly suitable for immediate on-site warning in the event of unauthorized access or other critical events, even in larger or noisy environments.

How are alarms and notifications sent?

The system offers various alarming methods: email notifications, SNMP traps, and syslog messages, complemented by the local alarm siren with strobe light. With an optionally installed LTE modem, SMS and web-to-SMS are also available.

Can the bundle be integrated into existing IT infrastructures?

Yes, the Monitoring System 100T is specifically designed for integration into professional IT environments. It supports SNMP v1/v2c/v3, Modbus TCP/IP natively, and Modbus RTU via an optional expansion, integrates into common monitoring platforms such as Nagios, PRTG, Zabbix, or Check_MK, and has a web API for custom integrations.
