This Didactum All-in-One bundle combines the Monitoring System 500T with six central environmental and security sensors - temperature, humidity, water, smoke, mains voltage, and door contact - plus a USB dome camera for video surveillance and a factory-installed LTE modem with additional antenna. This means a single bundle covers almost all classic monitoring requirements for server rooms, equipment cabinets, and critical business areas: environmental monitoring, access control, video evidence, and cellular backup in one solution.

As a highly advanced 19"-1U control unit, the Monitoring System 500T forms the central monitoring point of the bundle: it is connected to the network via Gigabit Ethernet, is fully configurable through the web browser, and requires no additional software. Temperature, humidity, water, smoke, mains voltage, and door contact sensors are connected directly to the analog ports and are automatically detected, while the USB dome camera is operated via plug & play on the USB port. The LTE modem installed in the expansion slot of the 500T ensures that alarm messages are reliably transmitted via mobile network even if the local network connection fails.

As your needs grow, this bundle grows with them: additional sensors and CAN devices can be added at any time via the remaining analog ports and the 500T CAN bus - without replacing the central unit.

Monitoring System 500T

The Monitoring System 500T is the central control unit of the bundle and a highly advanced, field-proven 19"-1U monitoring solution for data centers, technical rooms, and other business-critical environments. As a standalone device without moving parts such as fans or hard drives, it continuously captures all connected sensors and alerts in real time long before an expensive failure occurs. With 8 analog ports, one CAN bus port, 16 dry-contact inputs, and 4 relay outputs, the 500T can also be used as an I/O controller for doors, fans, generators, or UPS systems. The system is equipped with Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000 Mbit/s) and can be seamlessly integrated into monitoring environments such as Zabbix, PRTG, or Nagios thanks to SNMP, Modbus TCP/IP, and Syslog.

Temperature Sensor

The Didactum temperature sensor is used for precise temperature monitoring and measurement in the equipment cabinet or server room. The sensor is connected via RJ11 plug to an analog port of the 500T and is automatically detected. It can then be freely named in the web interface and assigned custom threshold values (Lower Critical, Lower Warning, Normal, Upper Warning, Upper Critical), so that an alarm is triggered automatically when the temperature becomes critical.

Humidity Sensor

The Didactum humidity sensor measures relative humidity and provides early warning of air that is too dry (ESD risk for hardware) or too humid (condensation risk). Like the temperature sensor, it is connected to an analog port of the 500T via RJ11/RJ12 cable, automatically detected, and configured in the web interface with individual threshold values.

Water Sensor

The Didactum water sensor detects leaks by measuring the increase in capacitance between two metal poles - corrosion-resistant and ideal for long-term use under raised floors, near air-conditioning systems, or in equipment cabinets. The sensor is connected through an analog port of the 500T and typically reports water ingress within about 15 seconds.

Smoke Sensor

The Didactum smoke sensor is a photoelectric smoke detector for early fire detection. It is connected to an analog port of the 500T, mounted on the ceiling (max. installation height 6 m), and can be daisy-chained with up to 10 additional smoke sensors if needed to cover larger rooms.

AC Voltage Sensor

The Didactum AC voltage sensor monitors the power supply in real time and immediately reports power failures, undervoltage, or overvoltage. It is simply plugged into a free 230 V socket and connected via sensor cable to an analog port of the 500T. Thanks to plug & play and auto-sensing, the sensor is detected automatically.

Note: To ensure that a power failure is reliably reported, the monitored socket must not be UPS-backed. The Monitoring System 500T itself should, however, be operated on a UPS so that notifications can continue to be sent in the event of an alarm.

Door Contact Sensor

The Didactum door contact sensor monitors whether doors, windows, and server cabinets are open or closed. It consists of a magnet and a sensor unit and is connected to a free analog port of the 500T. Multiple door contact sensors can be daisy-chained (up to 10 units, max. total length 150 m), allowing several access points in the building to be centrally monitored. In the event of unauthorized access, the 500T can automatically trigger a siren, activate the USB dome camera for recording, and send notifications.

USB Dome Camera

The Didactum USB dome camera delivers sharp live images in 720P HD quality and is operated via USB cable directly on the Monitoring System 500T - without external power supply and without additional driver installation. Thanks to integrated infrared LEDs (range up to 20 m), the camera also delivers clear recordings in poor lighting conditions or at night. In the web interface, the camera can be linked with the other sensors in the bundle: for example, if the door contact sensor is triggered, the 500T can automatically start video recording and save the video evidence via e-mail, SD card, or FTP.

LTE Modem with Additional Antenna

The LTE modem is already factory-installed in the intended expansion slot of the Monitoring System 500T. If the local network connection fails, the modem automatically switches to LTE (4G) and keeps system communication active, ensuring that alarms from all connected sensors continue to be transmitted reliably even when no wired network is available. In addition, the module supports sending and receiving SMS notifications to up to ten different phone numbers, which significantly increases response speed for critical alerts.

Comprehensive sensor integration for the bundle

The Monitoring System 500T supports up to 130 sensors, contacts, and relays simultaneously - 8 analog RJ12 sensor ports are available directly on the device, and this number can be significantly expanded via the CAN bus. Six of the eight analog ports are already occupied in the bundle by temperature, humidity, water, smoke, AC voltage, and door contact sensors, while the USB dome camera uses the USB port. The remaining two analog ports are free for additional sensors.

Thanks to the two remaining analog ports and the CAN bus port, the bundle can be extended at any time with additional sensors - such as extra vibration or magnetic contact sensors for additional access points.

Real-time monitoring and automated alerting

The Monitoring System 500T reacts immediately to any state change in the connected sensors. If a threshold is exceeded, the system automatically sends e-mail notifications, SMS, web-to-SMS, push messages, or SNMP traps, or activates a siren. If the door contact sensor is triggered, the USB dome camera can additionally be instructed to start video recording, so that video evidence is saved directly via e-mail, SD card, or FTP. If the local network connection fails, the factory-installed LTE modem automatically takes over communication and ensures that alarms and SMS notifications continue to be delivered reliably. Integration into monitoring software such as Zabbix, PRTG, or Nagios is straightforward thanks to common network protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, FTP, SNMP, Syslog, DHCP, Modbus TCP/IP).

Practical example: The door contact sensor on the server cabinet reports an opening outside business hours. The 500T immediately triggers a siren, starts video recording on the USB dome camera, and sends an SMS with video evidence to the responsible security team - even if no LAN is available at the site, thanks to the factory-installed LTE modem.

The Monitoring System 500T in the bundle is equipped with 10/100/1000 Mbit/s Ethernet (Gigabit). The system supports up to 1000 elements (sensors, contacts, triggers, timers, logic schemes, notifications). Connect CAN devices

The Monitoring System 500T has a CAN bus port to which up to 32 additional CAN devices can be connected - for example additional sensor expansion units (8 analog ports per unit) or dry-contact expansion modules for dry contacts. The total length of the CAN bus chain can be up to 225 m, so larger infrastructures can also be monitored centrally. An additional CAN power supply (12V/1A) is only required if the number of CAN devices in the chain exceeds 12 units.

Commissioning in just a few minutes

Setting up the bundle is simple and quick - without any additional software.

  1. Mount the Monitoring System 500T in the 19" rack or equipment cabinet and connect it to your network via Gigabit Ethernet cable (if available)
  2. Connect the appropriate power supply - the system starts automatically
  3. Open the device's default IP address in the browser as stated in the quick guide and run through the setup wizard
  4. Connect the temperature, humidity, water, smoke, and door contact sensors to an analog port each - automatic detection
  5. Plug the AC voltage sensor into a free socket that is not UPS-backed and connect it to the 500T via sensor cable
  6. Connect the USB dome camera to the 500T via USB cable and mount it on the wall or ceiling
  7. Insert your own SIM card into the already factory-installed LTE modem and activate it in the web interface
  8. Name each sensor and the camera in the web interface, define thresholds, and configure alarm rules

What is included in this bundle?

Do I need a SIM card for the LTE modem?

Yes. The LTE modem is already factory-installed in the Monitoring System 500T, but it is supplied without a SIM card. For cellular connectivity and SMS notifications, you need your own SIM card from a mobile network provider, purchased separately.

How is the USB dome camera installed and operated?

The camera is connected directly to the Monitoring System 500T via a USB cable (5 m long). Thanks to plug & play, it is detected automatically, power is supplied directly by the 500T, and no external power source is needed. In the web interface, frame rate, storage destination (SD card, USB stick, FTP, e-mail), and alarm linkages can be configured.

Can the door contact sensor be combined with the camera and a siren?

Yes. If the door contact sensor is triggered, the web interface can automatically start video recording on the USB dome camera, trigger a siren, and send a notification by e-mail or SMS, so that the event is documented and reported immediately.

How is the AC voltage sensor installed?

The sensor is simply plugged into a free 230 V socket that is not UPS-backed and connected to a free analog port of the 500T via sensor cable. Thanks to auto-sensing, it is detected automatically. To ensure that a power failure is reliably reported, the 500T itself should, however, be operated on a UPS.

What happens if the network connection fails?

The factory-installed LTE modem automatically switches to LTE (4G) when the local network connection fails and keeps system communication active. Alarms from the connected sensors are therefore transmitted reliably via SMS or mobile network even without a LAN connection.

Can I expand the bundle with additional sensors?

Yes. Since the bundle uses only 6 of the 8 analog ports of the Monitoring System 500T (the USB dome camera uses the separate USB port), 2 additional analog ports remain available for extra sensors such as additional door or magnetic contact sensors. The CAN bus port also allows up to 32 more CAN devices or expansion units to be connected.
