40 Dry Contacts – All Fault Alarms at a Glance

This CAN bus extension was designed for direct use with the latest-generation Didactum monitoring systems.

It enables the easy integration of multiple digital signals from building and plant technology into your IT infrastructure. Up to 64 dry contacts can be continuously recorded and monitored via network or Internet around the clock. Events or faults are automatically sent to responsible service technicians or the control center when required.

Typical applications:

  • Monitoring alarm and switching contacts of various systems
  • Integration of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems
  • Integration of backup power, safety, and fire alarm systems into IP-based networks
  • Central management of technical equipment via SNMP-compatible management software

The module comes with 32 digital inputs as standard and can be expanded to a total of 64 ports if required. This allows large installations with numerous signal lines to be efficiently connected. The optional expansion board can be preassembled upon request.

Typical use cases:

  • UPS “Battery low”, “Main power failure”, “Overload”
  • Air conditioning “Filter clogged”, “Refrigerant loss”, “Fan failure”
  • Diesel generator “No fuel”, “Low oil pressure”, “Start failure”
  • Fire alarm panel “Alarm zone 1–8”, “Detector fault”
  • Water sensor “Leakage raised floor”, “Air conditioner condensate”
  • Reed contact “Rack 12 open”, “Technical room door”

Each contact freely configurable: NO/NC, nameable, group assignment (“All UPS alarms”), timer (5 s delay for air conditioning). On switching event: SNMP trap + email (STARTTLS) + LTE SMS + Syslog entry + relay action.

Temperature Sensor – Overheat Protection with Laboratory Accuracy

The Didactum temperature sensor is specifically designed for accurate monitoring and measurement of ambient temperature in indoor environments.

It covers a measurement range from -40 °C to +100 °C and provides a high measurement accuracy of ±0.4 °C.

The sensor is fully compatible with all network-based monitoring and alarm systems from Didactum and is ideal for environments requiring reliable and continuous temperature measurement.

Installation and Operation Thanks to the RJ11 connector, the sensor can be connected to the monitoring system with minimal effort. Once plugged in, it is automatically detected and displayed in the web interface, where individual settings can be made.

Temperature data is available both via the network and web access. Integration into network management or monitoring solutions such as Nagios, SNMP-based tools, or temperature data loggers is straightforward. Multiple sensors can be combined to continuously monitor and document temperatures of extended systems or large rooms.

The delivery includes all necessary mounting hardware and a 2-meter connection cable. The sensor can be installed up to 100 meters away from the main system using an RJ11 patch cable – ideal for warehouses, production areas, or technical rooms.

Continuous measurement ensures that current values are always available and temperature fluctuations are detected early.

LTE Modem – Alarms Even in Total Outage

The Didactum LTE modem extends monitoring systems with a stable and flexible communication interface for demanding IT and infrastructure environments.

It enables sending and receiving SMS via 2G and 3G networks as well as establishing an LTE (4G) data connection via Ethernet. This ensures continuous monitoring of critical systems even in case of network issues or line failures.

Especially in sensitive areas such as server rooms or data centers, the module ensures maximum redundancy and operational reliability. Reliable Monitoring via Mobile Network Thanks to LTE connectivity and automatic switchover in case of network failure, important status messages are transmitted without interruption.

If the local LAN connection fails, the LTE modem automatically takes over data communication and maintains the link to the monitoring system.

Didactum monitoring systems, including models 300T, 500T, 550T, and PDU units, can be equipped with the LTE modem to reliably forward alarms, measurements, and event reports even during network disturbances.

This keeps control of your infrastructure fully intact at all times. During operation, the LTE module continuously monitors connected sensors and alarm contacts. If defined thresholds such as temperature or humidity are exceeded, or in case of smoke or unauthorized access, immediate notifications are sent via SMS or SNMP.

This continuous communication ensures a rapid response in case of events and reduces the risk of data loss or unplanned downtime.

Installation in 15 Minutes – Incredibly Easy

  1. Install 500T + dry contact box in 19″ rack (angle adjustable)
  2. Connect both via RJ11 CAN cable (set termination switch on last box to ON)
  3. Connect 500T to network via CAT6, plug in power (redundant inputs)
  4. Plug in temperature sensor → auto-sensing detects in 2 seconds
  5. Connect 32 fault contacts with two-wire cables → label → plug in
  6. Open browser → setup wizard asks for IP, LTE APN, 10 SMS numbers → done!
