Monitoring System 100T - Room Monitoring Bundle

Room Monitoring Bundle: Climate, Motion, and Video Surveillance in One Solution

This Didactum bundle combines the Monitoring System 100T with a temperature, humidity, and door contact sensor, a microwave motion detector, an alarm siren with strobe light, and a USB dome camera into a complete room monitoring solution. The bundle thus covers climate monitoring, motion and access detection, as well as visual evidence capture for a room – including immediate optical and acoustic alarming in an emergency.

The Monitoring System 100T forms the central control and alarming unit: it is integrated into the network via Ethernet, is fully configurable through a web browser, and requires no additional software. Temperature, humidity, door contact sensor, and motion detector are connected directly to the analog ports, the alarm siren to the relay output, and the USB dome camera to the USB port – all components are automatically detected or immediately controllable.

The complete CAN bus port of the 100T remains free, so additional CAN sensors or expansion units can be added at any time – without having to replace the central unit.

This bundle includes:

Seven coordinated Didactum products that together form a complete room monitoring solution with climate, motion, and video functionality.

Monitoring System 100T

The central IP-based monitoring and alarming unit that collects and evaluates all sensor data and automatically triggers an alarm when threshold values are exceeded.

Temperature Sensor

A precise analog sensor for continuous measurement of room temperature.

Humidity Sensor

A compact analog sensor for measuring relative humidity.

Door Contact Sensor

A magnetic contact sensor for monitoring the open and closed status of doors.

USB Dome Camera

A compact USB video camera for live monitoring and evidence capture with infrared night vision.

Monitoring System 100T

The Monitoring System 100T is the central control unit of the bundle and the latest generation of Didactum's high-end monitoring systems, developed and manufactured in the European Union. It operates entirely independently via an integrated web server, requires no additional software installation, and, thanks to its hardened Linux operating system and built-in watchdog, is designed for permanent 24/7 operation in critical environments such as offices, server rooms, or sensitive business areas. Four analog ports, a CAN bus port, a USB port, and relay outputs allow sensors, cameras, and alarm devices to be automatically detected or directly controlled, while integration into SNMP, Modbus TCP/IP, or Syslog-based monitoring environments such as Zabbix, PRTG, or Nagios is achieved without extra effort. With 10/100/1000 Mbit/s Ethernet and an optional LTE modem, the 100T can be further tailored to the respective infrastructure.

Alarm Siren with Strobe Light

The alarm siren with strobe light provides immediate acoustic and optical alarming directly on site within the bundle as soon as one of the sensors reports a critical condition – for example an unauthorized door opening, detected motion, excessive temperature, or excessive humidity. It is connected directly to a 12V DC relay output of the Monitoring System 100T via the included 3-meter connection cable and is automatically activated in the event of an alarm. With a sound pressure level of 108 dB and a red strobe light flashing at 2.5 Hz, it reliably draws attention even in larger or noisier environments. Thanks to IP54 protection and a rugged ABS housing, it is also designed for permanent use in technical rooms.

Comprehensive Sensor Integration for the Bundle

The Monitoring System 100T supports up to 100 sensors, contacts, and relays simultaneously – in the base configuration, up to 36 sensors directly via the analog ports and CAN bus. The temperature, humidity, door contact sensor, and motion detector already occupy all four analog ports in the bundle; the alarm siren is controlled via a relay output and the USB dome camera via the USB port – the complete CAN bus port remains free for future expansion.

Temperature sensor

Already included in the bundle: precise measurement of room temperature with ±0.25 °C accuracy.

Humidity sensor

Already included in the bundle: reliable measurement of relative humidity with ±3 % RH accuracy.

Door contact sensor

Already included in the bundle: access monitoring of the door via magnetic contact.

Microwave motion detector

Already included in the bundle: reliable motion detection, even through non-metallic obstacles.

Alarm siren

Already included in the bundle: immediate acoustic-optical alarming on site.

USB dome camera

Already included in the bundle: live footage and automatic video recording during alarm events.

Since all four analog ports are occupied by the bundle, any further sensor expansion takes place exclusively via the fully free CAN bus port – for example through additional smoke, water, or vibration sensors as well as sensor expansion units. This allows the bundle to be expanded at any time from solid basic room monitoring protection into a comprehensive monitoring network.

Real-Time Monitoring and Automated Alarming

The Monitoring System 100T reacts immediately to critical values from all sensors in the bundle. When threshold values are exceeded, the system automatically sends email notifications and SNMP traps, activates the included alarm siren via the relay output if needed, and can simultaneously trigger the USB dome camera for video recording. With an optionally installed LTE modem, SMS and Web-to-SMS notifications are also possible. Integration into monitoring software such as Zabbix, PRTG, Nagios, or Check_MK is straightforward thanks to common network protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, FTP, SNMP, Syslog, Modbus TCP/IP, DHCP).

💡

Practical example: The microwave motion detector detects unauthorized movement in the room outside business hours. The system immediately activates the alarm siren with strobe light on site, automatically starts video recording from the USB dome camera, and sends an email with footage to the security personnel – potential intruders are thus immediately deterred and the incident is fully documented.

Web-Based Control & Intelligent Automation

The multilingual web interface allows easy management of all bundle components as well as alarms and scenarios – right from initial setup.

  • Temperature > 30 °C → turn on ventilation, trigger alarm
  • Humidity > threshold value → send email to administrator
  • Door opened → activate alarm siren, send notification
  • Motion detected → start camera recording, send image via email
  • Alarm event overnight → additionally send SMS to security service (with optional LTE modem)

The Monitoring System 100T can also be used as an I/O controller for air conditioning, lighting, or fans – ideal for room and building management as well as preventive maintenance.

Full Control

Control the central unit, climate sensors, motion and access monitoring, alarm siren, and camera together – all through an intuitive, web-based interface.

  • Monitor real-time data from temperature, humidity, door contact, and motion sensors together
  • Retrieve live footage and recordings from the USB dome camera
  • Create automated actions based on defined conditions
  • Send email, HTTP request, SNMP, or other notifications
  • Visualize trends and logs for better decision-making
  • Manage users, permissions, and access securely at three levels

Scalable, Reliable, and Future-Proof

The Monitoring System 100T in the bundle is equipped with 10/100/1000 Mbit/s Ethernet (Gigabit). The system supports up to 700 elements (sensors, triggers, logic schemes, notifications). Since the temperature, humidity, door contact sensor, and motion detector already occupy all four analog ports, and the siren is controlled via a relay output while the camera uses the USB port, the fully free CAN bus port is available for further sensor technology. Regular firmware updates ensure long-term usability. Made in the EU – German support included.

Max. number of sensors100 (physical, incl. contacts & relays)
Max. number of elements700
Analog ports (free)0 of 4 (all occupied by bundle)
CAN bus portfully free

Connecting CAN Sensors

Since all four analog ports are already occupied in the bundle, any further sensor expansion takes place via the CAN bus port, which remains fully free in the bundle. This port allows additional CAN devices to be connected together in a chain – up to 24 CAN devices per chain are recommended, with a maximum of 32 devices per port. Each 8-port sensor expansion adds 8 additional analog sensors to the system, while each dry contact expansion unit adds 32 or 64 additional dry contact inputs. The total length of the CAN bus can be up to 230 m; an additional CAN power supply (12V/1A) is only needed if the number of CAN devices in the chain exceeds the recommended limit.

Motion, Access, and Video Surveillance

The door contact sensor, microwave motion detector, alarm siren, and USB dome camera already form a complete security package for the monitored room within the bundle.

  • Door contact sensor detects unauthorized door openings
  • Motion detector captures unauthorized movement, even through non-metallic obstacles
  • Alarm siren warns acoustically and optically directly on site
  • USB dome camera provides live footage and automatic video evidence during alarm events

All sensor and alarm data is also logged with a timestamp, which supports companies with ISO 27001, GDPR, or industry-specific audits.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in this bundle?

The bundle includes the Monitoring System 100T as the central monitoring and alarming unit, a temperature sensor, a humidity sensor, a door contact sensor, a microwave motion detector, an alarm siren with strobe light, and a USB dome camera. All components are coordinated with each other and ready for immediate use right out of the box. The bundle does not include any separately selectable options.

How is the alarm siren connected?

The alarm siren is not connected to an analog sensor port but is connected directly to a 12V DC relay output of the Monitoring System 100T via the included cable. The web interface can then be used to define which events – such as an opened door or detected movement – automatically activate the siren.

How is the USB dome camera connected and what can it do?

The camera is connected directly to the USB port of the Monitoring System 100T via a USB cable and is automatically detected. It delivers an MJPEG stream in 720P HD quality and features infrared LEDs for footage in darkness. The web interface can be configured so that the camera automatically records as soon as the door or motion sensor reports an event.

Do I need to configure the sensors separately?

No. The temperature, humidity, door contact sensor, and motion detector are connected to the analog ports of the monitoring system via RJ11/RJ12 cable and are automatically detected there. Each measured value then appears as its own point in the web interface, for which you can set individual threshold values.

Can I expand the bundle with additional sensors?

Since the temperature, humidity, door contact sensor, and motion detector already occupy all four analog ports, any expansion takes place via the fully free CAN bus port of the 100T. Up to 32 additional CAN devices can be connected via this port (24 recommended), such as additional smoke, water, or vibration sensors.

How loud is the alarm siren and what is it suitable for?

The alarm siren reaches a sound pressure level of 108 dB and combines this with a red strobe light flashing at 2.5 Hz. This makes it particularly suitable for immediate on-site warning in the event of unauthorized access, detected movement, or other critical events, even in larger or noisier environments.

How are alarms and notifications sent?

The system offers various alarming methods: email notifications, SNMP traps, and Syslog messages, complemented by the local alarm siren with strobe light and automatic video recording from the USB dome camera. With an optionally installed LTE modem, SMS and Web-to-SMS are also available.

Can the bundle be integrated into existing IT infrastructures?

Yes, the Monitoring System 100T is specifically designed for integration into professional IT environments. It supports SNMP v1/v2c/v3, Modbus TCP/IP natively, as well as Modbus RTU via an optional extension, can be integrated into common monitoring platforms such as Nagios, PRTG, Zabbix, or Check_MK, and features a web API for individual integrations.
