In modern data centers and server rooms, reliable monitoring of all critical environmental and operational parameters is essential for fail-safety and the protection of IT infrastructure. With the Didactum Modbus RTU Expansion Module, numerous Modbus-capable sensors and measuring devices, such as temperature, humidity, or differential pressure sensors, energy meters, or UPS systems, can be centrally connected and monitored. Each measured value from a connected Modbus device is displayed in the Didactum system as a virtual sensor, allowing administrators to clearly view all relevant values in the web interface or via SNMP in network monitoring.

With the ability to define individual thresholds and configure alerts, critical conditions such as overheating, high humidity, power failures, or unusual energy consumption are immediately detected. This minimizes downtime and significantly increases operational reliability in the server room. The integration of Modbus RTU devices also enables centralized control and automation of air conditioning, ventilation systems, or access controls – an important contribution to efficient and secure IT infrastructure.

Even outside the server room, the Didactum Modbus RTU Expansion Module offers numerous advantages. Installation of the Didactum Modbus RTU Expansion Module

Installation of the module is extremely simple and can even be carried out during ongoing operation. The slot PCB board is inserted into the monitoring unit without having to shut down the system. The internal termination resistor is activated by default but can be deactivated if necessary – this is particularly advantageous for very long or complex daisy-chain installations.

Depending on the model, the module is equipped with either a 90-degree angled power connector (for Didactum Monitoring System 100T, 500T, 550T) or a straight connector (for Didactum Monitoring System 300T).

Configuration of the Modbus devices is conveniently done via the web interface of the Didactum Monitoring System. Here, individual virtual sensors can be created, named, assigned thresholds, and graphically displayed as icons. Integration into existing alerting and automation processes is also easily possible.
