The Akuvox AV-E18C is a versatile 7-inch video door intercom for access control that combines face recognition, card reader, PIN code, Bluetooth and QR code in a single device. Thanks to modern deep learning algorithms and dual-camera liveness detection, the AV-E18C can be used reliably both in residential complexes and in commercial properties to enable comfortable yet secure access.
Compact touch device: The plastic housing with 7-inch touchscreen runs on a Linux operating system and can be installed by surface mounting. The AV-E18C is powered via Power over Ethernet (802.3af) or alternatively via an external 12 V DC power supply if no PoE-capable network connection is available.
Two-way audio transmission over IP networks with echo cancellation ensures the voice connection, while door opening is possible via face recognition, EM/Mifare card, PIN, Bluetooth (BLE) or QR code. The device is SIP- and ONVIF-compatible and can therefore be flexibly integrated into existing telephone systems and video management systems.

How the AV-E18C is built
The plastic housing of the AV-E18C combines display, dual camera, card reader and the complete connection technology in a compact surface-mount device.
7-inch touchscreen
IPS LCD display with a resolution of 600 × 1024 pixels for menu navigation, video telephony and PIN entry.
Dual camera system
A main camera (2 megapixels, WDR) and a secondary camera (2 megapixels, automatic illumination) together form the basis for dual-camera liveness detection in face recognition. The field of view is 36° horizontal and 62° vertical.
Illumination & sensors
Infrared LED for night vision, a light sensor and an additional white LED together ensure reliable image and recognition quality under a wide range of lighting conditions.
RF card reader & NFC
Integrated reader for 13.56 MHz and 125 kHz cards as well as NFC support (usable only with Android smartphones).
Connections on the rear
Ethernet port (RJ45, 10/100 Mbps), 2 relay outputs, 3 inputs, Wiegand interface (2-channel, configurable as input or output), one RS485 port and a TF card slot for local data backup.
Power supply & tamper protection
Operation via Power over Ethernet (802.3af) or alternatively via a 12 V DC connection. An integrated tamper alarm detects forced dismantling of the device from the wall.
Additional health protection
For environments with elevated hygiene requirements, the AV-E18C includes an additional recognition function.
Mask detection
Detects whether a person is wearing a mask during the access process.
Also designed for many users standalone
The AV-E18C can manage access data locally on the device even without central management software.
Integration into existing systems
The AV-E18C is designed as an open SIP device and can be used both standalone and in conjunction with third-party systems.

Connection of the camera image to common video management systems.
Wiegand
2-channel, configurable as input or output – for connecting external card readers or access controllers.

Via the Wiegand interface, the AV-E18C can for example be integrated as an additional card reader into an existing access control system: the system sends its release via “Wiegand In” to the door station, while the AV-E18C can forward recognised cards via “Wiegand Out” to an external system. In addition, components such as an electric door lock or an external exit button can be connected and controlled via the inputs and outputs.

As a door station, the AV-E18C is exposed to the elements and potential sabotage – the design is accordingly geared toward continuous operation.

Commissioning in a few steps
Setting up the AV-E18C can be completed in a short time even without extensive prior knowledge.
- Mount the device on the wall (surface mounting) and connect the Ethernet/PoE cable, or alternatively use 12 V DC power supply
- Perform basic setup via the web interface of the door station
- Create users and store access methods (face, card, PIN, BLE, QR code)
- Optional: wire relays/inputs for door opener, gate control or exit button
- Optional: integrate into an existing SIP telephone system or ONVIF video management software

Body temperature measurement (range 34–45 °C, accuracy ±0.3 °C, measuring distance 0.3–1 m) is available exclusively on the special device version E18C(MD02). The regular standard version does not measure body temperature, but still supports mask detection.
How is the AV-E18C powered?
Power is supplied either via Power over Ethernet according to 802.3af or, if PoE is not available, via an additional 12 V DC connection.
How many users and cards can the AV-E18C manage locally?
The AV-E18C can manage up to 20,000 users, 20,000 cards, 20,000 PIN codes and 20,000 face templates locally, as well as up to 1,000 contacts and an event log with up to 50,000 entries.
Can the door also be opened via a smartphone instead of a card?
Yes, via Bluetooth (BLE 5.0) or via NFC at the integrated card reader. According to the manufacturer, door opening via NFC smartphone is only possible with Android devices.
Can the AV-E18C be integrated into existing access or telephone systems?
Yes. Via SIP, the AV-E18C can be integrated into existing IP telephone systems, via ONVIF into video management software, and via Wiegand or RS485 external access components or third-party devices can be connected and controlled.
Is the AV-E18C also suitable for outdoor use?
Yes. The housing meets the IP65 protection rating against dust and water jets as well as the IK07 impact resistance class and is designed for an operating temperature range of −20 °C to +55 °C.
