Contactless Current Meter – Revolutionary Non-Invasive Current Monitoring for Modern Data Centers
Innovative Technology for Efficient Power Monitoring
The Contactless Current Sensor from AKCP marks a milestone in modern current measurement technology. This innovative solution enables precise non-invasive current monitoring without the need to cut electrical wires or interrupt existing installations. In an era where data center monitoring and energy monitoring are becoming increasingly important, the CCM provides a cost-effective and safe alternative to conventional current transformers.
Unique Advantages of Contactless Current Measurement
Most conventional current measuring systems require access to individual conductors, which is practically impossible with multi-core cables that contain phase, neutral, and ground conductors in a single sheath. The AKCP Contactless Current Sensor solves this problem with its unique magnetic field sensing technology, which allows accurate electrical measurements through the cable insulation.
This innovative solution offers key advantages: there is no downtime during installation, as no electrical connections need to be interrupted. Furthermore, no electrician is required for installation, saving both time and cost. Power consumption tracking is continuous and reliable, without affecting existing systems.
Precision Measurement for Professional Applications
The Contactless Current Sensor achieves impressive accuracy of ±5% with factory-calibrated cables of the same type, and ±10% with non-factory-calibrated cables. This precision makes it ideal for IT rack monitoring applications, where accurate consumption values are critical for energy monitoring and efficiency calculations.
The current measurement technology is based on highly integrated, energy-efficient surface-mount components that ensure long-term reliability. With a typical power consumption of only 7.25 mW (1.45 mA), the sensor itself is highly energy-efficient and does not affect the systems being monitored.
Versatile Practical Applications
The Contactless Current Sensor is ideal for monitoring 2-core or 3-core cables in various application areas. In data center monitoring environments, it allows precise monitoring of power consumption for individual server racks, which is essential for calculating Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE).
In combination with AKCP's Thermal Map Sensors and the AKCPro Server, comprehensive analyses can be performed that combine current measurement, temperature distribution, and differential pressure. This integrated solution provides a complete picture of the power monitoring situation in critical IT environments.
Technical Specifications and Durability
The Contactless Current Sensor is designed for use in demanding environments. It operates reliably at temperatures from -35°C to +80°C and humidity from 20% to 80% (non-condensing). Its compact dimensions of 49 x 45 x 51 mm allow for flexible installation even in confined spaces.
Communication is handled via an RJ-45 interface with UTP CAT5e cables, supporting cable lengths of up to 50 feet (approx. 15 meters). The sensor is powered directly by the control unit, eliminating the need for an external power supply.
Easy Installation and Maintenance
This electrical monitoring solution excels with its simple installation. The sensor is simply placed around the cable to be monitored and connected to the control unit. LED indicators for operational status and calibration significantly simplify commissioning and maintenance.
This non-invasive current monitoring technology not only reduces installation costs but also minimizes safety risks, as no work on live conductors is required.
Future-Proof Solution for Modern Data Centers
The Contactless Current Sensor represents the future of power monitoring technology. Its ability to perform precise current measurement without invasive procedures makes it the ideal solution for modern data centers that require maximum availability while optimizing efficiency.
Integration into comprehensive energy monitoring systems enables operators to make informed decisions about their infrastructure and optimize energy costs while ensuring system reliability.
