Isolated DC Current Sensor IDCV00 for sensorProbe and securityProbe Monitoring Systems
Professional DC Voltage Monitoring with the AKCP DC Current Sensor
For the remote monitoring of DC voltages with the network-based sensorProbe and securityProbe alarm servers, AKCP has developed an isolated model of the DC current sensor. This isolated DC current sensor features a reinforced housing, which provides increased protection against short circuits or overvoltage compared to the conventional AKCP DC current sensor.
The isolated DC voltage sensor is simply connected to the DC consumer to be monitored. You then connect the DC current sensor via Cat5 cable to the desired sensorProbe or securityProbe alarm server. With the support of the Auto Sense function developed by AKCess Pro, the connected DC current sensor is automatically detected by the sensorProbe or securityProbe.
Technical Specifications of the Isolated Digital Voltmeter
The AKCP DC current sensor has impressive technical features that make it a reliable tool for DC voltage monitoring. The sensor can measure DC voltages in two configurable ranges: from -60 to +60 VDC or from -5 to +5 VDC. The resolution is precisely 0.001 V with an accuracy of 1% of full scale.
The input isolation of 1600 VDC ensures maximum safety during voltage monitoring. The input resistance varies depending on the selected measurement range: 1.6 MOhm for the high measurement range (60 volts maximum) and 1.1 MOhm for the low measurement range (5 volts maximum). This high input impedance ensures that the circuit to be measured is not affected.
Fields of Application of the Isolated AKCP DC Current Sensor
The isolated AKCP DC current sensor is used wherever important DC states need to be measured and monitored around the clock. In combination with the network-based AKCP sensorProbe or AKCP securityProbe monitoring systems, the SNMP-compatible DC current sensor offers a wide range of applications:
Industrial Applications:
- Monitoring of solar systems and their DC output
- Monitoring of batteries and battery systems in UPS systems
- Monitoring of electric motors and their power consumption
- Integration of laboratory equipment for voltage measurement
- Network connection of pressure sensors and other analog sensors
- Integration of third-party sensors into the IP monitoring of AKCP monitoring systems
Data centers and IT infrastructure:
- Monitoring of server power supplies and their DC outputs
- Monitoring of battery packs in uninterruptible power supplies
- DC voltage monitoring of telecommunications equipment
- Control of DC power supplies for network devices
Measurement and Monitoring of DC Current via Network or Internet
In the web interface of the AKCP sensorProbe or AKCP securityProbe alarm server, you can individually configure the isolated AKCP DC current sensor. Set custom measurement units and adjust the thresholds to your specific requirements.
If, for example, you are monitoring connected pressure sensors, you can enter, for example, Pascal or hectopascal as the unit of measurement in the sensorProbe or securityProbe alarm server. The measured DC consumption data is recorded by the sensorProbe and securityProbe and can even be exported on request (remote Syslog).
Since the sensorProbe and securityProbe are SNMP-compatible, integration into system monitoring applications and SNMP-compatible network management systems is supported. This enables seamless integration into existing IT infrastructures and monitoring solutions.
Robust Construction and Easy Installation
The AKCP DC current sensor stands out due to its robust construction. The housing with dimensions of 65(W) x 62(H) x 15(D) mm is designed for use in demanding environments. The operating temperature range of -35°C to +80°C and the permissible humidity of 20% to 80% (non-condensing) make the sensor suitable for a wide variety of application environments.
The DIN rail mounting or screw mounting allows flexible installation in control cabinets or other industrial environments. The sensor is powered via the sensorProbe or securityProbe and does not require an additional power supply. The typical power consumption is only 110 mWatt (22 mA).
LED Status Indicators for Easy Diagnosis
The isolated DC voltage sensor has three LED indicators that provide important status information:
- Power LED: Indicates correct power supply
- Status LED: Signals the operating state of the sensor
- Overvoltage LED: Warns of critical voltage states
These visual indicators facilitate troubleshooting and enable quick diagnosis of problems on site.
Reliable Alarm in Case of Fault
The DC voltages measured at the isolated DC current sensor can be output by the sensorProbe or securityProbe alarm server in the form of an email alarm, SMS alarm, or SNMP trap. Responsible service technicians are thus reliably notified in case of a DC voltage failure.
The alarm functions include:
- Configurable thresholds for upper and lower limits
- Immediate notification in case of limit violations
- Escalation procedures in case of persistent problems
- Historical data recording for trend analysis
Individual Adjustment of the Isolated DC Current Sensor
The isolated DC current sensor can be individually configured in the web interface of the associated sensorProbe or securityProbe monitoring systems. In the web interface of the sensorProbe or securityProbe, custom limits and thresholds for the DC consumers connected to the DC sensor can be set.
The configuration options include:
- Setting the measurement ranges (-60 to +60V or -5 to +5V)
- Definition of custom measurement units
- Adjustment of alarm limits to specific requirements
- Configuration of notification intervals
- Setup of data logging and export functions
SNMP Integration and Network Compatibility
As a fully SNMP-compatible device, the AKCP DC current sensor IDCV00 can be seamlessly integrated into existing network management systems.
The SNMP integration enables:
- Centralized monitoring via network management systems
- Automatic device discovery in SNMP-enabled applications
- Standardized MIB support for easy integration
- Compatibility with common monitoring software solutions
Extended Cable Lengths for Flexible Installation
...
The isolated DC voltage sensor can be operated up to a distance of 18 meters (60 feet) from the base unit using standard CAT5/6 LAN cables. This flexibility in sensor installation enables monitoring of remote DC sources without additional infrastructure.
The connection is made via a standard RJ-45 connector, which simplifies installation and maintenance. The supplied 1.5-meter connection cable can be extended if required using standard network cables.
