AKCP MD00 PIR Hardware Motion Sensor – Professional Security Monitoring for Critical Infrastructures
The SNMP-capable motion sensor from the renowned monitoring manufacturer AKCP is equipped with a highly sensitive passive infrared sensor and is designed for reliable detection and monitoring of movement in critical environments. Protect your sensitive infrastructures such as server rooms, data centers, production facilities, and warehouses from unauthorized access with this innovative hardware motion detection technology.
Technical Specifications and Performance Features
The AKCP PIR motion sensor features a dual infrared sensor with exceptionally high sensitivity, reliably detecting movement within a detection angle of 60 degrees up to a maximum operating range of 3 meters (9 feet). High RFI immunity ensures interference-free operation even in electromagnetically challenging environments such as data centers or industrial facilities.
The operating temperature range of -20°C to +50°C (-4°F to 122°F) makes the sensor suitable for a wide variety of applications, from air-conditioned server rooms to less climate-controlled storage areas. With its compact dimensions of 65 x 62 x 15 mm and a weight of only 64.7 g, the motion sensor is ideally suited for discreet wall and ceiling mounting as well as DIN rail installation.
Innovative Daisy-Chain Technology for Comprehensive Area Coverage
A standout advantage of the AKCP motion sensor lies in its unique daisy-chain capability. Up to 10 MDxx sensors can be connected in series using standard Cat5 cable, occupying only a single sensor port on the AKCP sensorProbe or securityProbe alarm server. This innovative chaining technology enables cost-effective protection of large areas—consider trade fair halls, airport terminals, warehouses, or extensive server rooms.
The maximum cable length between individual sensors is 6 meters (20 feet), while the total cable length of a 10-sensor chain can reach up to 46 meters (150 feet). For single sensors, cable distances of up to 300 meters (100 feet) are possible, providing flexible installation options even in sprawling building complexes.
Alarm Notification via Email, SMS, or SNMP Trap
The PIR motion sensor can be flexibly mounted on walls or ceilings. The sensor features an RJ-45 connector and is connected to a free sensor port on the AKCP sensorProbe or securityProbe IP alarm server using standard Cat5 Ethernet cable. The motion sensor is fully powered by the alarm server—no additional power supply is required.
Thanks to the intelligent Auto-Sense function, the MDxx sensor is automatically recognized by the AKCP sensorProbe or securityProbe and displayed in the web interface. You only need to specify whether you want to be alerted by email, SMS, or SNMP trap to your network monitoring solution (OpenNMS, Monit, Nagios, WhatsUp Gold, HP OpenView, etc.) upon motion detection.
Intelligent Time Scheduling and SNMP Integration
The time and weekday filter system integrated into the web interface of the AKCP alarm server is especially noteworthy, allowing you to individually configure alarm triggering for unauthorized access. For example, you can activate monitoring only at night or on weekends, while normal movements during business hours are ignored.
Since the AKCP motion sensor is equipped with a unique OID (Object Identifier), you can query the sensor connected to the sensorProbe or securityProbe alarm server directly via the network using an SNMP command. This SNMP functionality enables seamless integration into existing network monitoring systems and building automation.
Tamper Protection and Disconnect Alarm
An important security aspect is the integrated disconnect alarm: you will be automatically notified if the connection to the motion sensor is interrupted due to tampering, sabotage, or technical problems. This tamper protection function ensures the integrity of your security system and prevents unnoticed failures.
Interaction with Intelligent AKCP Sensors
The SNMP-capable PIR motion sensor can interact intelligently with other AKCP sensors to realize complex security scenarios. For example, upon motion detection, the alarm siren with integrated strobe light can be triggered by the sensorProbe or securityProbe alarm server to deter intruders and alert personnel.
An AKCP motion sensor installed in front of the server room door can automatically pan the dome camera installed at the securityProbe to the door to document suspicious activity. Similarly, sensor-controlled relays can be switched, allowing the motion sensor to trigger any DC- or AC-powered device—be it for lighting, alarm systems, or other security equipment.
Application Areas and Use Cases
The AKCP MDxx hardware motion sensor is ideally suited for professional security monitoring in a wide range of critical infrastructures:
- Server rooms and data centers: Protection against unauthorized access to sensitive IT systems
- Production facilities: Monitoring of production lines and machine areas outside operating hours
- Warehouses and logistics centers: Securing goods areas and shipping zones
- Office buildings: Security monitoring in corridors, stairwells, and critical areas
- Museums and exhibitions: Protection of valuable exhibits and works of art
- Research facilities: Monitoring of laboratories and sensitive research areas
Energy Efficiency and Environmental Friendliness
With a typical power consumption of only 50 mW at 10 mA current draw, the MDxx is exceptionally energy efficient. Power supply via the monitoring system eliminates the need for separate power supplies or batteries, reducing both installation effort and operating costs.
Professional Security Solution for the Highest Demands
The AKCP PIR hardware motion sensor combines highly sensitive infrared technology with intelligent network integration and flexible installation options. The unique daisy-chain capability, comprehensive SNMP support, and seamless integration into AKCP monitoring systems make it the ideal choice for professional security applications in critical infrastructures.
