SNMP Temperature Sensor: Precise Remote Monitoring for Data Centers and Server Rooms
The requirements for temperature monitoring in data centers, server rooms, and other critical infrastructures are constantly increasing. Especially in sensitive environments, it is essential to detect temperature fluctuations early to avoid failures and damage to sensitive equipment. The AKCP SNMP Temperature Sensor offers a reliable and easy-to-install solution for remote temperature monitoring and is ideal for data center monitoring. With SNMP network capability, data can be easily and efficiently read and analyzed.
Precise and Reliable Temperature Measurement
The AKCP SNMP Temperature Sensor is a semiconductor-based, microprocessor-controlled sensor specifically developed for recording accurate temperature data. It is compatible with all base units of the sensorProbe+ and securityProbe series and can be easily integrated into existing monitoring systems.
The resolution is 0.5 °C, enabling the detection of even small temperature changes in detail. The measured values can be read via a dedicated SNMP OID, making integration into network monitoring systems particularly straightforward.
Easy Installation and Flexible Customization
Installing the AKCP Temperature Sensor is extremely simple. Thanks to the AutoSense feature of the sensorProbe+ and securityProbe base units, the sensor is automatically detected and configured upon connection. The user only needs to define threshold values for warning and critical states. The integrated graphing function of the base units displays temperature trends over time, enabling early problem detection.
For longer distances, the sensor can be extended with a standard CAT5 cable up to 50 m (165 ft). Delivery includes the sensor cable and special temperature sensor clips for easy mounting in server racks. Upon request, AKCP also provides custom cable lengths to optimally support any installation.
Rugged Design for Demanding Environments
Especially in heavily frequented server rooms, protecting the sensor from mechanical impact is important. The AKCP SNMP Temperature Sensor features a stainless steel enclosure that protects the sensor from damage. For particularly harsh environments or extreme temperature applications, AKCP recommends special variants such as the AKCP Thermocouple Sensor or the Ultra Cold Temperature Sensor.
Calibration Check and NIST-Certified Sensors for Maximum Accuracy
A special feature of the AKCP SNMP Temperature Sensor series is the integrated Calibration Check function. The NIST2 and NIST3 series are equipped with NIST-certified and calibrated temperature sensors, ensuring particularly high stability.
NIST2 Sensors:
This version includes two NIST-certified, calibrated temperature sensors that compare readings with each other every second. If a deviation greater than the specified tolerance is detected, an alert is triggered, indicating a need for recalibration. This makes the NIST2 sensors ideal for applications requiring high measurement accuracy and calibration monitoring.
NIST3 Sensors:
This version uses three NIST-certified, calibrated sensors that operate in three pairs. Readings are continuously compared. If a deviation is detected, the system automatically switches to another sensor (failover), ensuring seamless monitoring. This solution is particularly suited for critical applications where downtime must be avoided.
Both NIST2 and NIST3 sensors provide internal calibration checks and alerts for deviations. However, NIST3 sensors are exclusively compatible with sensorProbe+ base units, while NIST2 sensors can also be used with the securityProbe series. In addition to temperature values, the sensors also report calibration status and the number of active sensors.
Advanced Monitoring Features and Integration
The AKCP SNMP Temperature Sensor solution offers extensive options for expansion and integration. Data can be easily integrated into existing network management systems via the SNMP interface. The base units support graph creation and trend analysis, making temperature data monitoring and evaluation particularly convenient.
For special requirements such as monitoring cold rooms, freezers, or industrial applications, various sensor variants are available. The ability to operate multiple sensors on one base station allows simultaneous monitoring of several measurement points – ideal for server rack or industrial process monitoring.
Security and Reliability Through Redundant Systems
The NIST3 sensors provide an additional level of safety through the use of three sensors. In the event of a sensor failure, another sensor automatically takes over the measurement without interruption or data loss. This failover concept is particularly suited for applications with high availability requirements.
Secure Temperature Monitoring
To ensure optimal monitoring, sensors should be placed at strategic points in the server room or data center. Monitoring the inlet and outlet air temperatures is especially important for controlling cooling efficiency. Sensors should be regularly checked for calibration to ensure measurement accuracy.
AKCP SNMP Temperature Sensor – The Ideal Solution for Professional Temperature Monitoring
The AKCP SNMP Temperature Sensor is a powerful, easy-to-install, and highly accurate solution for remote temperature monitoring in data centers, server rooms, and other critical environments.
The integration of Calibration Check, NIST2 and NIST3 sensors, and support for failover functions make this solution especially reliable and flexible.
Thanks to easy SNMP integration and the ability to operate multiple sensors on a single base station, the AKCP SNMP Temperature Sensor is the ideal choice for any professional temperature monitoring application.
NOTE:
These sensors are not supported by sensorProbe, DCU, CCU, and E-IS8.
These devices and older sensorProbes should use the THS sensors.
