Reliable Monitoring of Server Rooms and Critical Company Areas with the Didactum Vibration Sensor
The Didactum vibration sensor is a highly advanced security sensor specifically developed for monitoring server rooms and critical company areas. Its main task is to reliably detect shocks, vibrations, and oscillations on walls, windows, server cabinets, or other sensitive surfaces. This is especially important for early detection of sabotage attempts, break-ins, or other security-relevant incidents and to initiate appropriate countermeasures.
Monitoring Server Rooms with the Didactum Vibration Sensor
Server rooms form the backbone of a company's IT infrastructure and are therefore a preferred target for attacks and manipulation. The Didactum vibration sensor is installed directly at critical points such as server cabinets, access doors, or windows. As soon as an unusual shock—such as from break-in attempts or the smashing of a window—is detected, the sensor immediately triggers an alarm notification. Real-time monitoring makes it possible to react instantly to security-related events and thus protect the integrity of IT systems.
Integrating the vibration sensor into the Didactum monitoring system is extremely simple: the sensor is connected to a free sensor port via RJ-12 patch cable and automatically recognized by the system. Sensitivity thresholds can be individually set using the user-friendly web interface, allowing the sensor to be optimally adapted to the specific requirements of the server room. Up to five different limit and alarm values can be defined to capture both slight shocks and strong vibrations.
Monitoring Critical Company Areas
In addition to use in the server room, the Didactum vibration sensor is also ideally suited for monitoring other critical company areas. These include technical rooms, warehouses, archives, production facilities, or sensitive administrative areas. In all these areas, the sensor can be attached to walls, doors, windows, or machines to detect unauthorized access, sabotage, or manipulation at an early stage. Especially in areas with increased sabotage protection requirements or when monitoring critical infrastructure, the vibration sensor is an indispensable element in the security concept.
The total cable length can be up to 150 meters, enabling flexible and cost-efficient monitoring.
Installation and Configuration
Installing the Didactum vibration sensor is simple and efficient. The delivery includes both a screw and double-sided mounting tape, so the sensor can be quickly and securely attached to the desired surface. Once connected to the Didactum monitoring system, the sensor is automatically recognized. Sensitivity can be finely adjusted and alarm notifications individually configured via the web frontend.
Alarm notifications can be sent via e-mail, SMS (with optional GSM modem), SNMP trap, or through the internal alarm system.
Configuration follows the "IF-THEN" principle: if a certain shock threshold is exceeded, for example, the IT staff is immediately notified or a siren is triggered. This ensures that alarm notifications and actions are precisely tailored to the requirements of each company area.
Application Examples
- Server Room Monitoring: Protection against physical attacks, sabotage, or break-ins through real-time alarms for shocks on server cabinets, doors, or windows.
- Rack Monitoring: Monitoring individual racks for manipulation or vibrations, for example through unauthorized opening or removal of hardware.
- Critical Infrastructure: Use on power supply systems, UPS systems, or switch cabinets for early detection of sabotage or manipulation.
- Warehouses and Archives: Protection of valuable materials, documents, or sensitive goods by alarming when shocks occur on doors, windows, or walls.
- Production Areas: Monitoring machines and systems for unusual vibrations that could indicate malfunctions, manipulation, or defects.
- Access Control: Combination with other security sensors for comprehensive access control and alarm notification when sensitive areas are entered without authorization.
Advantages
- Reliable real-time monitoring and alarm notification
