Controllable and Measured Power Supply for 4 Outlets
The Didactum PDU-4M is a network-enabled Power Distribution Unit with four individually switchable and individually monitored IEC-320-C13 outlets. Each outlet can be switched on or off independently, reset, or toggled, while providing precise measurements for voltage, current, power, frequency, and active and apparent energy. This makes the PDU-4M ideal for server racks, network cabinets, and technical installations where individual loads need to be monitored and remotely controlled.
In addition to power distribution, the PDU-4M includes a CAN bus port for connecting environmental sensors, allowing climate values to be recorded directly at the power distribution unit. Control is available via the integrated web interface, a mobile app, or common M2M protocols such as REST API and SNMP.
The PDU-4M therefore combines power distribution, per-outlet energy metering, and environmental monitoring in a compact device for desktop or 19" rack installation.
Four outlets, individually controllable
Each of the four IEC-320-C13 outlets on the PDU-4M can be controlled and monitored independently of the others.
On / Off
Each outlet can be switched individually, manually or automatically.
Reset
Briefly switch off and back on to restart connected devices.
Toggle
Change the current state of an outlet via click or API call.
Zero Current Switching
Each output switches without current to protect connected devices during switching.
Control is possible via the device's web interface, a mobile app, and M2M protocols such as REST API and SNMP.
Precise energy measurement per outlet
At each of the four outlets, the PDU-4M independently measures the relevant electrical values with an accuracy better than 1%.

Defined state after power failure and automatic schedules
The "PowerUp state" parameter defines how each outlet behaves immediately after power is restored, before regular communication with the higher-level system is established. The available states are "On" and "Off", allowing critical loads to switch back on automatically after a power outage or remain deliberately off.
In addition, switching for each outlet can be configured on a time basis using a graphical scheduler. Each outlet can have its own schedule, allowing automatic switching on or off, for example for regular restarts or to power down unused loads outside business hours.
Environmental monitoring directly at the power distribution unit
Via the CAN port of the PDU-4M, digital CAN sensors and CAN extensions can be connected and continuously evaluated to monitor critical environmental factors, prevent device damage, and avoid downtime. Up to 24 CAN devices can be managed in a chain, supplemented by up to 300 additional elements such as notifications, triggers, timers, and logic schemes for custom monitoring solutions.

USB camera and long-term logs
Via the micro-USB port, a USB camera can be connected, which automatically records a JPEG image stream in the event of an alarm and thus provides visual confirmation of the event. For long-term storage of log data, the PDU-4M supports SDHC and SDXC memory cards up to 512 GB, enabling data storage for up to 5 years.
Full control via web interface, app, and protocols
The integrated web interface provides access to virtual sensors, logic schemes, and a wide range of notification types, and can be operated from anywhere in a mobile-friendly way.

How many outlets can be switched independently?
The PDU-4M has 4 IEC-320-C13 outlets (110–240V AC, 10A), each of which can be switched on or off, reset, or toggled individually — manually in the web interface, via the mobile app, or through M2M protocols such as REST API and SNMP.
What values are measured per outlet?
At each outlet, voltage (V), current (A), power (W), frequency (Hz), active power, apparent power, active energy (kWh), and apparent energy (kWh) are measured with an accuracy better than 1%.
What happens to the outlets after a power failure?
The "PowerUp state" parameter defines for each outlet whether it is automatically "On" or "Off" after power returns, before regular communication with the higher-level monitoring system is restored.
Can outlet switching be automated by time?

The device does not start — what could be the reason?
First check the position of the "N…R" DIP switch on the rear side. If it is set to "R" (Restore), the device will not start normally. Set the switch to "N" (Normal) to restore regular operation.
Can a camera be connected for alarm confirmation?
Yes, a USB camera can be connected via the micro-USB port and will automatically record a JPEG image stream in the event of an alarm to visually confirm the incident.
