Didactum Expansion Unit – Connecting Additional Sensors to Your Didactum Monitoring System
The TCP/IP-based monitoring systems from Didactum offer, in their basic version, 4 or 8 ports for analog sensors (depending on the model). Customers who require a larger number of sensors can use this expansion unit to connect additional sensors to the networked IT monitoring system. Each sensor expansion unit can accommodate up to 8 sensors. Depending on the sensor type, the sensors can be installed at distances of 50 to 150 meters from the expansion unit. The sensor unit is connected to the CAN bus of the monitoring system via an RJ-12 patch cable.
After clicking on CAN Bus in the German-language web interface of the monitoring system, the sensor expansion unit, including the connected sensors, is automatically detected and listed. You can then configure each sensor individually and define the desired type of notification and alarm. Every Didactum IT monitoring system can send alarm notifications via email, SMS (using an optional GSM modem), and SNMP traps. If desired, the alarm can also be signaled to building management via an alarm siren or relay.
Additional CAN units or digital CAN sensors can be connected to the LAN-based IT alarm systems via the CAN bus (Controller Area Network). This is done using serial wiring with an RJ12 patch cable. Distances of up to 225 meters are supported, allowing flexible installation of sensors in the rooms to be monitored.
The 8x analog (CAN) sensor port expansion significantly increases the number of analog sensors that can be connected to a Didactum monitoring unit. Each connected unit adds 8 analog sensors. It is connected to the CAN port and supports further CAN daisy-chain connections, making it a versatile addition to your monitoring system.
