Switchable power distribution with 8 sockets, Gigabit Ethernet and environmental monitoring
The Didactum PDU-8T is a versatile, network-capable power distribution unit for effective load management in server rooms and technical cabinets. It allows switching on and off as well as remote reboot of up to eight individual sockets, providing flexible control over connected devices such as servers, network equipment or peripheral devices – ideal for racks with a higher number of devices.
As one of the few switchable PDUs with true Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000 Mbit/s), the PDU-8T is particularly suitable for environments where a high-performance network connection is required. In addition, it acts as a fully-fledged I/O controller: analogue sensor ports, a CAN bus for digital sensors, potential-free contacts and 12V relay outputs make it possible to centrally manage door control, fans, generators, UPS systems, circuit breakers and alarm systems.
With the ability to manage up to 700 elements – including notifications, triggers, timers, logic schemes, sensors and potential-free contacts – the PDU-8T offers robust functionality even for complex setups, controlled via an intuitive integrated web interface.
Eight sockets, individually remotely controllable
Each of the eight C13 sockets (110–240V AC, 50/60 Hz, bistable relays) can be switched on and off or rebooted independently of the others.
On / Off
Each socket can be switched manually or automatically via logic schemes.
Remote reboot
Non-responsive devices can be made accessible again by rebooting them remotely.
Bistable relays
The last switching state of each socket is retained even in case of a short power failure.
Logic schemes
Switching operations can be linked to conditions such as sensor values or schedules.
Gigabit Ethernet for high-performance environments
The PDU-8T features a 10/100/1000 Mbit/s Ethernet interface and is therefore one of the few switchable PDUs with full Gigabit Ethernet support. IPv4 is supported natively, IPv6 is available on request. This allows the PDU-8T to be integrated into networks with high data volumes without bottlenecks.
Far more than pure power distribution
In addition to socket control, the PDU-8T serves as a fully-fledged I/O controller for sensors and peripheral devices.
2 analogue sensor ports
For classic Didactum analogue sensors such as temperature or humidity.
CAN bus (2 ports)
For digital CAN sensors and extensions in a daisy chain.
2 potential-free contacts
For door, window or status contacts of external devices.
2 x 12V/0.25A relay outputs
For alarm sounders, sirens or other 12V actuators.
Integrated temperature sensor
Accuracy ±1 °C, integrated directly into the device.
USB camera & SD card
Micro-USB for camera connectivity, MicroSD slot for logs and system recovery.
This makes the PDU-8T suitable, for example, for door control, fan control, generator control, UPS monitoring, circuit breaker automation and integration of alarm systems.
Designed for eight sockets
Since the PDU-8T supplies twice as many sockets as the PDU-4T, the mains input is dimensioned accordingly.
C20 mains input
110–240V AC, 50/60 Hz, designed to supply all 8 sockets.
16A fuse
Larger input fuse compared to the PDU-4T (10A).
12V DC backup
Additional backup power input that takes over if the main power fails.
Optional extension modules
Via separately available extension modules, the PDU-8T can be adapted to individual requirements.
4G modem
For a network connection via mobile network, independent of the main line.
Modbus RTU extension
For integration of Modbus RTU-capable devices.
OSDPv2 reader extension
Alternative to the Modbus module for connecting access readers.
Of the two extension slots, only one module can be installed in each slot at a time (4G modem slot or Modbus/OSDP extension slot).
Full control via web interface, app and protocols
The integrated web interface provides access to virtual sensors, logic schemes and a wide range of notification types.
- Notifications via e-mail, FTP log, syslog, SMTP, SNMP traps, web-to-SMS and push
- Supported protocols: DHCP, HTTP, HTTPS, DynDNS, SSL, SNMP v1/v2c/v3, SMTP, FTP, Syslog, RADIUS, Modbus RTU, OpenVPN
- Virtual sensors: PING, timer, triggers, logic schemes, SNMP GET, up to 4 IP cameras, virtual calculation elements and more
- Environmental monitoring: temperature, humidity, voltage, water ingress, smoke and airflow via connected sensors
- Management of up to 700 elements such as notifications, triggers, timers, logic schemes and sensors
Application areas of the Didactum PDU-8T
The PDU-8T is suitable wherever reliable load management for a larger number of consumers is to be combined with environmental monitoring.
- Data centres: efficient power management for servers and network equipment with optimal load distribution over 8 sockets
- Remote maintenance: remote reboot of non-responsive systems to avoid on-site interventions
- Environmental monitoring: centrally monitor temperature, humidity, voltage and smoke and generate automatic alarms
- Control of peripheral devices such as fans, generators and UPS systems in case of power failures
- Door control and access management via potential-free contacts and alarm relays
- Racks with high device density where a single 4-way PDU is no longer sufficient

How many sockets can be switched independently?
The PDU-8T provides 8 C13 sockets (110–240V AC, bistable relays), each of which can be switched on and off or rebooted individually – manually via the web interface or automatically via logic schemes.
What is the difference between PDU-4T and PDU-8T?
The PDU-8T offers double the capacity with 8 instead of 4 sockets and therefore features a more powerful C20 mains input with a 16A fuse instead of a C14 input with 10A. The other functions such as Gigabit Ethernet, I/O controller and expansion options are identical.
Which sensors and devices can be connected additionally?
Via 2 analogue sensor ports and 2 CAN bus ports, classic analogue sensors as well as digital CAN sensors and extensions can be connected. In addition, 2 potential-free contacts and 2 x 12V/0.25A relay outputs are available for alarm sounders or other actuators.
Which extensions are available for the PDU-8T?
Optionally available are a 4G modem for a mobile network-based connection as well as a Modbus RTU extension or alternatively an OSDPv2 reader extension. Of the two extension slots, only one module can be used at a time.
Can a camera be connected for alarm verification?
Yes, a USB camera can be connected via the Micro-USB port and used for visual monitoring and recording of events.
The device does not start – what could be the reason?
First check the position of the “N…R” DIP switch on the rear side. If it is set to “R” (Restore), the device will not start in normal mode. Set the switch to “N” (Normal) to restore normal operation.
