Flexible relay output for switching external loads
The Didactum relay contact sensor is used to switch external loads on and off and is connected to a 12V relay output of a Didactum monitoring system. As soon as the 12V output of the monitoring system is triggered, the relay contact sensor switches the connected load accordingly.
With a switching capacity of up to 5A, the module is suitable for controlling magnetic and bolt locks, electromagnets, sirens, light sources, heaters, air conditioning units, and many other electrical loads. The relay contact sensor can also be operated independently with third-party controllers.
Relay contact sensor design
The compact housing (60 × 18 × 18 mm) has two separate terminal areas and a status LED.
Input terminal
Screw terminal with 3.81 mm pitch (2-pin) for connection to a 12V/0.25A relay output of the monitoring system.
Output terminal
Screw terminal with 5.0 mm pitch (2-pin) for connecting the load to be switched.
Status LED
Red LED on the top of the housing that indicates the current switching state of the contact.
Relay contact
Dry contact rated up to 5A at 250VAC / 30VDC (max. 1250VA / 150W).
Meaning of the LED indicator
The red LED on the top of the housing shows the switching state of the contact. Depending on the selected configuration in the web interface ("Normal" or "Reverse"), the LED lights up in different states.
Connection to the monitoring system
The relay contact sensor can only be connected to a 12V/0.25A relay output of a Didactum monitoring system. The connection is made using a two-core cable between the 12V output of the monitoring system and the input terminal (3.81 mm pitch) of the relay contact sensor. The load to be switched is then connected to the output terminal (5.0 mm pitch).
The maximum distance between the relay contact sensor and the monitoring system is up to 200 m.
Note: Multiple relay contact sensors can be connected at the same time to different 12V relay outputs of the same monitoring system in order to switch multiple loads independently.
Typical wiring examples
Depending on the connected load, different use cases arise.
Example 1: Controlling a device with a dry-contact input
The relay contact sensor is connected between the 12V output of the monitoring system and the dry-contact input of a third-party device in order to control it remotely.
Example 2: Controlling a siren, light source, or heater
The load is connected directly to the output terminal and is automatically switched on or off when the monitoring system is triggered.
Example 3: Controlling a magnetic lock, electric motor, or electromagnet
The relay contact sensor switches the power supply of the lock, motor, or electromagnet, enabling remote access control or actuator control.

Frequently asked questions
Which output is the relay contact sensor connected to?
The relay contact sensor can only be connected to a 12V/0.25A relay output of a Didactum monitoring system. The input terminal with 3.81 mm pitch is connected to the 12V output.
How is the load to be switched connected?
The load is connected to the output terminal with 5.0 mm pitch. This is separate from the input terminal, so the control voltage and the switched load current remain cleanly separated.
What does the LED on the housing indicate?
The red LED indicates the switching state of the contact. Depending on the selected configuration ("Normal" or "Reverse") in the web interface, the LED lights up either when the contact is closed or when it is open.
How much power can the relay contact sensor switch?
The sensor can switch loads of up to 5A at a maximum of 250VAC or 30VDC, corresponding to a maximum switching capacity of 1250VA or 150W.
Can the relay contact sensor also be used with third-party systems?
Yes. The relay contact sensor only requires a 12V control voltage and can therefore also be operated independently with third-party controllers.
Can several relay contact sensors be used at the same time?
Yes. Since each monitoring system has multiple 12V relay outputs, several relay contact sensors can be connected in parallel to control different loads independently.
