Reliable visual alarm signaling for server rooms and business areas
The Didactum flashing light is an LED warning beacon for visual alarm and alert signaling. It connects directly to a 12V DC relay output (0.25A) of a Didactum monitoring system. As soon as a sensor reports a critical deviation, the system activates the light, whose conspicuous flashes immediately draw attention to the danger — even in places where an audible alarm might be missed.
The flashing light is not limited to Didactum systems: thanks to its simple 2-wire connection, it can also be operated with third-party controllers and is therefore suitable for upgrading existing security concepts.
Design of the flashing light
The flashing light consists of an LED light unit with a permanently attached 2-core cable and two plastic backplates, which are used differently depending on the selected mounting method.
LED light unit
Round housing (red/white) with LED light source, diameter 73.5 mm, height 45.5 mm.
Connection cable
Permanently attached 2-core cable (red/black), 30 cm long, for connection to the relay output.
Two backplates
Enable two different mounting methods: either adhesive mounting only or additional screwed wall plug mounting.
Round adhesive sticker
Double-sided adhesive sticker with cable pass-throughs for tool-free mounting on smooth surfaces.
Two mounting methods available
Depending on the surface and the desired mounting method, the flashing light can be installed either only with the supplied adhesive sticker or additionally with wall plugs.
Mounting with adhesive sticker
- Remove the center part of the round sticker.
- Peel off the protective film on one side of the sticker and attach it to the back of the flashing light.
- Peel off the protective film on the second side and attach the flashing light, including the sticker, to the desired surface; guide the cable neatly through the cable pass-throughs in the sticker.
Mounting with wall plugs
- Remove the center part of the sticker.
- Attach one backplate to the rear of the flashing light using 2 M3 × 8 mm screws.
- Drill two holes for the wall plugs; if the cable is routed through the wall, drill an additional center hole.
- Insert the wall plugs into the wall, place the adhesive sticker between the wall and the second backplate, and screw both to the wall plugs using B2.9 × 20 mm screws.
- Connect the wall-mounted backplate with the backplate attached to the flashing light and rotate the flashing light until it is firmly seated.
- Connect the cable wires to the monitoring system.
Connection to the 12V relay output
The flashing light is connected via its 2-wire cable to a 12V/0.25A relay output of the monitoring system. A terminal block with a 3.81 mm pitch is required.
- Black cable: to the “–” terminal marked with the ground symbol
- Red cable: to the “+” terminal marked “E1” or “E2”
After connection, the relay output can be configured in the web interface and triggered automatically via logic schemes, for example in combination with a smoke, temperature, or water sensor.

Frequently asked questions
Which mounting methods are available?
The flashing light can be mounted either only with the supplied adhesive sticker or additionally screwed to the wall using the included wall plugs and screws. Both backplates are included in the scope of delivery.
How is the flashing light connected?
The black cable is connected to the “–” terminal marked with the ground symbol, and the red cable to the “+” terminal marked “E1” or “E2” of the 12V/0.25A relay output. A terminal block with 3.81 mm pitch is required.
Can the flashing light also be used with third-party systems?
Yes. The flashing light only requires a 12V DC power supply with sufficient current (at least 120 mA), so it can also be operated with third-party controllers.
How is the flashing light triggered?
Logic schemes in the monitoring system’s web interface can automatically activate the 12V relay output as soon as a defined event occurs, such as a critical temperature, smoke, or water alarm. The flashing light can also be switched manually via the web interface.
How bright is the flashing light and how fast does it flash?
The flashing light flashes at a frequency of 90 flashes per minute, making it clearly visible even in brightly lit or noisy environments.
Is the flashing light suitable for outdoor use or harsh environments?
The housing has IP54 protection and is designed for an operating temperature range of -50 °C to +105 °C. This makes it suitable for more demanding environments; however, for permanent outdoor use, a protected mounting position is still recommended.
