Temperature & Humidity Monitoring: The compact entry into climate monitoring
This Didactum bundle combines the compact Monitoring System 50T with a temperature sensor and a humidity sensor to create immediately ready-to-use climate monitoring for server rooms, IT racks, and smaller technical rooms. This allows overheating and condensation to be detected reliably at an early stage, before hardware damage or outages occur.
As a compact desktop control unit, the Monitoring System 50T forms the basis of the bundle: it is integrated into the network via Ethernet, is fully configurable through the web browser, and requires no additional software. The temperature and humidity sensors are connected directly to the analog ports and automatically detected thanks to AutoSense.
As your needs grow, this bundle grows with them: the remaining analog ports and the 50T CAN bus allow additional sensors to be added at any time — such as water, smoke, or door contact sensors — without replacing the central unit.
This bundle includes:
Three coordinated Didactum products that together provide complete climate monitoring for server rooms and technical cabinets.
Didactum 50T
The compact monitoring and alarm unit that collects and evaluates all sensors and triggers automatic alerts.
Temperature sensor
Precise temperature monitoring for early detection of overheating.
Humidity sensor
Monitors relative humidity and warns of condensation or air that is too dry.
Didactum Monitoring System 50T
The Didactum Monitoring System 50T is the central control unit of the bundle and a compact, cost-efficient monitoring solution for server rooms, IT racks, and technical installations. As a self-contained desktop unit, it continuously captures all connected sensors and reports anomalies in real time, long before they lead to an expensive outage or data loss. With 4 analog ports and one CAN bus port, the 50T can also be expanded with additional sensors such as water, smoke, or door contact sensors. The system is equipped with Ethernet (100 Mbit/s) and can be seamlessly integrated into monitoring environments such as Zabbix, PRTG, or Nagios thanks to SNMP, Modbus TCP/IP, and Syslog.
Temperature sensor
The Didactum temperature sensor is used for precise temperature monitoring and temperature measurement in the technical cabinet or server room. The sensor is connected via an RJ11 plug to an analog port of the 50T and is automatically detected. It can then be freely named in the web interface and assigned custom threshold values (Lower Critical, Lower Warning, Normal, Upper Warning, Upper Critical), so that an alarm is triggered automatically when the temperature becomes critical.
Humidity sensor
The Didactum humidity sensor measures relative humidity and provides early warnings about air that is too dry (ESD risk for hardware) or too humid (condensation risk). Like the temperature sensor, it is connected to an analog port of the 50T via an RJ11/RJ12 cable, automatically detected, and configured in the web interface with individual threshold values.
Comprehensive sensor integration for the bundle
The Monitoring System 50T supports up to 100 sensors, contacts, and relays simultaneously – 4 analog ports are available directly on the device, and this number can be extended via the CAN bus. Two of the four analog ports are already occupied in the bundle by the temperature and humidity sensors; the remaining two ports are free for additional sensors.
Temperature
Already included in the bundle: protection against overheating in racks and server rooms.
Humidity
Already included in the bundle: early warning of condensation or air that is too dry.
2 analog ports free
Space for additional sensors such as water, smoke, or door contact sensors.
CAN bus port
Additional expansion via CAN extension units is possible.
Thanks to the two remaining analog ports and the CAN bus port, the bundle can be expanded with additional sensors at any time — for example, a water sensor against leaks, a smoke detector against fire risks, or a door contact sensor for access control.
Real-time monitoring and automated alarming
The Monitoring System 50T reacts immediately to any change in the state of the connected sensors. When a threshold is exceeded, the system automatically sends email notifications, SMS, SNMP traps, or activates a siren. Integration into monitoring software such as Zabbix, PRTG, or Nagios is easily possible thanks to standard network protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, FTP, SNMP, Syslog, DHCP).
Practical example: The temperature sensor reports a critical value in the server cabinet. The 50T automatically activates the ventilation control, triggers a visual alarm light, and sends email and SMS to the IT staff — overheating damage to servers is thus prevented at an early stage.
Web-based control & intelligent automation
The intuitive web interface allows easy management of all sensors as well as alarms and scenarios — directly from the moment the bundle is put into operation.
- Temperature > 30 °C → switch on ventilation, trigger alarm
- Temperature > 28 °C AND humidity < 30 % → send email, switch relay
- Humidity > 70 % → send SMS to administrator
- Sensor value normalizes → automatic alarm acknowledgment
The Monitoring System 50T can also be used as an I/O controller for air conditioning systems, fans, or lighting — ideal for IT environment management and preventive maintenance.
Full control
Monitor temperature and humidity, turn them into actionable alarms, and configure integrations — all through an intuitive, web-based interface.
- Monitor the real-time status of temperature and humidity together
- Create automated actions based on defined conditions
- Send email, Telegram, HTTP request, SNMP, or other notifications
- Visualize trends and logs for better decisions
- Manage users, permissions, and access securely
Scalable, reliable, and future-proof
The Monitoring System 50T in the bundle is equipped with 100 Mbit/s Ethernet. The system supports up to 700 elements (sensors, contacts, triggers, timers, logic diagrams, notifications). Two of the 4 analog ports of the central unit are already occupied by sensors in the bundle; the remaining 2 ports and the CAN bus port remain fully free for additional sensors. Via CAN expansion units and daisy chaining, the number of sensors can be expanded to more than 256 if required. Regular firmware updates ensure long-term use. Made in the EU – German support included.
Connect CAN devices
The Monitoring System 50T has a CAN bus port to which up to 10 additional CAN devices can be connected in a chain — for example, additional sensor expansion units (8 analog ports per unit) or dry-contact expansions for potential-free contacts. With daisy chaining, a total cable length of up to 320 m can be achieved, allowing larger environments to be monitored centrally as well. An additional CAN power supply (12V/1A) is only required if the number of CAN devices in the chain exceeds 12 units.
