The Didactum Monitoring System 50T room monitoring unit is a cost-effective remote monitoring device for the environment, ideally suited for small IT rooms and offering comprehensive monitoring and control.
It measures various environmental parameters such as temperature, humidity, voltage, leakage, smoke, and airflow to ensure optimal conditions for sensitive equipment. The unit also functions as an input/output controller and controls devices such as doors, fans, generators, UPS systems, alarms, and circuit breakers.
Main features:
Ability to signal alarms, activate sirens, send email notifications, or transmit SNMP traps.
Support for up to 100 physical sensors and up to 700 elements such as notifications, logic schemes, and triggers.
Integrated web interface with virtual sensors, customizable notifications, and control panels.
Compatibility with multiple protocols and services such as HTTP/HTTPS, SNMP (v1, 2c, 3), SMTP, Radius, Syslog, FTP, DHCP, and OpenVPN clients.
This unit provides a cost-effective solution to ensure the security and functionality of IT rooms while enabling real-time monitoring and control.
Functions:
-
USB – for USB camera recording
USB flash storage for system logs and system recovery - Micro USB port 2.0 (save system logs to USB stick and perform USB upgrade or restore factory settings) -
Connections for analog sensors: A1..A4
4 RJ12 6P4C ports for analog sensors with automatic detection. -
SD card – MicroSD card slot with ejector.
The card is required for data storage or for “system recovery”. -
LEDs: R1, R2 – Status indicators for two 12V 0.25A outputs on the front panel.
LED on (orange) – Output is on (initial state is configurable).
LED off (orange) – Output is off (initial state is configurable).
LED: ACT – green LED indicates the device system status:
Operating mode: blinks at 2 Hz - successful completion of software update: blinks at 4 Hz.
LED: ALARM – LED can be programmed as an alarm indicator via the interface.
LED: ERR – red LED indicates errors and data traffic. (In normal operation the LED is off, it lights up steadily in case of errors, in software update mode it blinks at 2 Hz)
LED: CAN – green LED indicates CAN bus status (slow blinking: no connection - fast blinking: configuration in progress - steady light: connection to CAN devices) -
RELAY 12V 0.25A – 12V 0.25A outputs (electronic relay) with a pin pitch of 3.81mm, 3-pole
Each output has an LED indicator (E1, E2). -
Restart – The button restarts the device.
Press and hold the button for 2 seconds and release, then the system will restart. -
Reset settings – Resets all settings to factory defaults.
Press and hold the button for more than 5 seconds. The “ERR” LED starts blinking, indicating the start of recovery. Wait 20–60 seconds for the system to restart. The ACT LED blinks as soon as the system is operational again. Afterwards, the device is accessible again. -
LAN port – Ethernet 10/100 Base-T port for network connection.
Orange LED – indicates network traffic on the Ethernet port. Green LED – indicates network status on the Ethernet port. Green blinking during system startup, steady light when connected, blinking while attempting connection. -
CAN – digital RJ12 6P4C port for CAN sensors/extensions/devices on the CAN bus.
Modules can be cascaded. -
Potential-free contacts 1...2 – Digital inputs (type IN) with a pin pitch of 3.5mm, 6-pole.
-
DC 12V POWER – Main power supply 12V DC, 2A.
-
Side switch
N: Normal operation – switch to the left ←. The switch should always be in this position.
R: Device recovery – switch to the right →. Used to load a clean system image from the SD card.

Areas of Application
The Didactum Monitoring System 50T remote monitoring system is particularly well suited for small IT rooms and can be used in a variety of ways:
-
Environmental monitoring: It records relevant parameters such as room temperature, humidity, and air quality to ensure a comfortable and safe working environment. Additionally, it supports early detection of issues with ventilation and air conditioning systems or fire hazards through smoke and airflow sensors.
-
Security monitoring: The system can be linked to access control systems to monitor doors and windows. In case of unauthorized access or outside of regular working hours, alarms are automatically triggered to enhance security.
-
Energy and resource management: By measuring voltage, power consumption, and other electrical parameters, the system helps optimize energy usage and thus reduce costs in areas such as lighting, server rooms, or office equipment.
-
Automatic notifications and actions: In emergencies, such as power outages or critical system failures, the system automatically sends email notifications or SNMP traps to responsible personnel to enable rapid responses and minimize downtime.
-
Intelligent office control: In combination with IoT devices, the VT225t can, for example, automatically control lighting, fans, or blinds—based on the collected sensor data—and thus contribute to an energy-efficient smart office. Overall, the system offers a cost-effective way to significantly enhance security, comfort, and efficiency in office and IT environments.
