Relay Output 1W-UNI - Expand your remote monitoring
€140.50
The Relay Output 1W-UNI is a powerful expansion module specifically developed for HWg-Ares 12 devices to extend their functionality by integrating four remotely controllable relay outputs.
This module enables precise control of external devices such as alarm systems, air conditioning units, or emergency power supplies and is ideal for industrial, mobile, and IoT applications that require reliable temperature monitoring and flexible control. With its energy-efficient design and seamless integration into the SensDesk portal, the Relay Output 1W-UNI offers a robust solution for demanding environments.
Package Contents
The Relay Output 1W-UNI module is delivered as a standalone expansion module for the HWg-Ares 12 and includes:
- Relay Output 1W-UNI: Module with 4x NO/NC relay outputs (up to 50 V / 1 A load).
- Connection cable: RJ11 cable for connection to the 1-Wire UNI bus of the HWg-Ares 12.
- Documentation: Quick guide for installation and configuration.
Optionally, an external 5V adapter or a "1-Wire Hub Power" accessory can be purchased for stable power supply.
Functionality and Application Areas
The Relay Output 1W-UNI expands the HWg-Ares 12 by four bistable relay outputs that can be controlled both locally and remotely. These relays are rated for loads up to 50 V and 1 A and offer both normally open (NO) and normally closed (NC) contacts.
Control is performed either manually via SMS or the SensDesk portal, automatically based on alarm thresholds from connected sensors (e.g., temperature sensors or outdoor temperature sensors), or locally as a thermostat function. The bistable relays are characterized by low power consumption, as they only require power during switching operations, increasing the energy efficiency of the system.
The module is suitable for a wide range of applications:
- Optical and acoustic alarms: Activation of warning signals in critical environmental conditions.
- Air conditioning and heating systems: Control of air conditioning units or heaters based on temperature measurements.
- Emergency power supplies: Automatic switching to backup systems in case of power failures.
- Industrial automation: Remote control of machines or devices in production environments.
Technical Integration with HWg-Ares 12
The Relay Output 1W-UNI is connected via the 1-Wire UNI bus of the HWg-Ares 12 and occupies four sensor positions, even if only one or two relays are used. A maximum of two Relay Output 1W-UNI modules can be connected to one RJ11 port of the Ares device, enabling up to eight remotely controllable relay outputs.
For stable power supply when using multiple modules, an external 5V adapter or a "1-Wire Hub Power" is recommended. The switching update rate is 3 seconds, which is sufficient for most applications, but not optimized for highly dynamic mobile applications.
Intelligent Alarm and Control Functions
The Relay Output 1W-UNI works seamlessly with the alarm functions of the HWg-Ares 12. When a connected sensor (e.g., a temperature sensor) exceeds a predefined threshold or a dry contact is triggered, the relay outputs can be activated automatically.
This allows, for example, the activation of an alarm system or a backup system in case of critical temperatures. Alternatively, the relays can be switched manually via the SensDesk portal or by SMS, enabling flexible remote control. The combination of GSM monitoring and relay control makes the system particularly suitable for remote locations without LAN access.
Advantages of Bistable Relays
The use of bistable relays in the Relay Output 1W-UNI offers several advantages:
- Energy efficiency: The relays only consume power during switching, minimizing energy demand and extending the lifetime of the HWg-Ares 12’s internal battery.
- Reliability: The relays retain their switching state even during power failures, increasing operational safety.
- Flexibility: The NO/NC configuration allows adaptation to different devices and applications.
Compatibility with SensDesk and IoT Applications
The Relay Output 1W-UNI is fully integrated into the SensDesk portal, which provides a user-friendly interface for monitoring and control. Users can control the relay outputs in real time, configure alarms, and analyze sensor data in charts with up to two years of history.
Data transmission is carried out via the HWg-Push protocol, which is optimized for efficient use of the GSM/GPRS network. This integration makes the Relay Output 1W-UNI ideal for IoT control projects requiring reliable remote control and data analysis.
