Compact Ethernet I/O Device with Enhanced IP Security
The HW group Damocles2 MINI is a smart I/O device for controlling digital inputs and outputs over LAN. It provides 4 digital dry-contact inputs, all equipped with S0 pulse counters with memory to connect water, gas, electricity, or other meters. Additionally, the Damocles2 MINI controls 2 digital relay outputs (DO).
Configuration is performed via an integrated web server. For remote monitoring over the internet, a SensDesk Technology portal in combination with the SensDesk Mobile App for iOS and Android is suitable. The device also works with HWg-PDMS and HWg-Trigger and uses secure M2M protocols (HTTPS, IPv6, SNMPv3). Thanks to support for over 50 SNMP and SCADA applications, the Damocles2 MINI can be integrated into a wide variety of existing monitoring and control systems; the MQTT protocol additionally enables connection to IoT solutions.

How the Damocles2 MINI Is Built
The robust metal housing (approx. 106 x 31 x 94 mm, approx. 300g) has an IP40 rating and is designed for industrial and IT environments with operating temperatures from -30°C to 80°C (20–80% RH); storage conditions range from -30°C to 60°C (5–95% RH).
Compact Metal Housing
Robust housing for desktop operation, with LEDs on the top for Power, Setup/Alarm, as well as the four digital inputs (IN1–IN4) and the two relay outputs (OUT1, OUT2).
Ethernet Port with Web Server
An RJ45 Ethernet port (10/100 MBit) connects the device to the network; an integrated web server enables configuration directly via the browser. Power over Ethernet is available as an option.
Terminal Blocks for Digital Inputs (I1–I4)
Four terminals for digital dry-contact inputs (NO/NC) with pulse counting function, for connecting water, gas, or electricity meters as well as detectors such as motion, smoke, or gas alarms.
Terminal Blocks for Relay Outputs (OUT1, OUT2)
Two relay outputs (NC-COM-NO) for controlling external actuators such as sirens, indicator lights, or control relays, with up to 120V AC/60V DC and 1000mA load current.
Power Supply
The Damocles2 MINI is powered either via a barrel jack (2.1/5.5 mm) or a terminal block with 9–30 V DC (power consumption approx. 250 mA); a PoE version and a -48V version are available as options.
Multi-Level Notification for Critical Events
A state change on a digital input triggers various alerts depending on configuration.
SNMP Trap
Up to 5 SNMP trap destinations can be configured, including SNMP v1 and (partially) v2 as well as v3.
E-mail Alert
Up to 5 e-mail destinations, sendable via SMTP including SMTP TLS encryption.
SMS + Ring

Practical Example: In a technical room, the Damocles2 MINI counts the S0 pulses of an electricity meter via one digital input and monitors the door contact of the control cabinet via another input. If the door is opened unexpectedly, the device automatically switches a relay output to activate a siren and simultaneously sends an e-mail and an SNMP trap to system monitoring. The counted pulses are regularly read out with HWg-PDMS and converted into costs per period for MS Excel export.
