The PIR Motion Detector for Object Protection and Server Rooms
The HW group Motion PIR Detector JS-20 is a passive infrared motion detector (PIR sensor) for object protection and indoor monitoring. It uses multiple signal analysis methods, achieving high sensitivity while remaining largely immune to false alarms as well as RF interference and other false signals.
The detector is typically used in server rooms, data centers, offices and commercial premises, telecommunications rooms, or storage areas. When it detects motion, its output switches and a connected HW group device reports the alarm via LAN, GSM, SNMP, or email.

How the JS-20 Motion Detector Is Constructed
The compact wall-mounted housing measures 61 x 110 x 53 mm (W x H x D) and weighs approximately 77 g. The detector is mounted on a flat wall or in a corner and connected via screw terminals.
PIR Sensor
The passive infrared sensor detects motion at an angle of 120° up to a distance of 12 m and evaluates the signals using multiple analysis methods.
Screw Terminals for Power Supply
The detector is supplied with 12 V DC ± 25 % via the screw terminals (terminal block). The maximum conductor cross-section is 1 mm². Current consumption is max. 10 mA without LED and max. 35 mA including LED.
PIR Output (Open Collector)
When motion is detected, the output switches. It is rated for max. 60 V / 50 mA, with an internal resistance of max. 30 Ω. The output is connected to a digital input (dry contact) of the monitoring device.
TMP Output
The second output is rated for max. 60 V / 50 mA, with an internal resistance of max. 16 Ω. In addition, the detector detects connection problems as an alarm.
Free Terminal Pair (GBS)
The additional free terminal pair facilitates connection to monitoring systems.
Jumper for Detection Analysis
With the adjustable jumper, the detection analysis is enhanced – useful when the detector is installed in problematic locations.
Mounting and Commissioning

- After power-on, the detector requires up to 180 seconds stabilization time

- Connect the output via digital input (dry contact) to the monitoring system
