The NB-2xOut from HW group is a compact IoT device specifically developed for remote control of devices via two latching relay outputs (DO). It enables manual or automated control of devices such as heaters, pumps, or warning lights via the SensDesk portal or HWg-Cloud.
Control can be performed either manually through the portal’s web interface or based on events (e.g., alarms from other devices/sensors). Thanks to Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT), it offers reliable, energy-efficient data transmission, ideal for remote locations. The NB-2xOut TSET package includes a 3-year NB-IoT SIM card from Vodafone, an internal battery with up to three years of lifetime, and a 5V power adapter for quick deployment in most countries.
Digital Outputs with Relay Control
The NB-2xOut features two latching relay outputs (DO), enabling precise control of connected devices. These outputs can be switched manually via the SensDesk portal or automatically based on defined conditions (e.g., alarms from other sensors).
Examples include switching on warning lights, activating pumps at low water levels, or controlling heaters in thermostat mode. The relays support S0 pulse counting, which facilitates integration with consumption meters. Data is transmitted in real time via the SensDesk portal or HWg-Cloud and can be exported to MS Excel for reports.
Narrowband IoT for Reliable Connectivity
Narrowband IoT technology enables secure and energy-efficient data transmission, ideal for locations without LAN or WiFi infrastructure. The NB-2xOut comes standard with a 3-year NB-IoT SIM card from Vodafone, allowing worldwide use in most countries (Note: LTE SIM cards are not compatible).
For large projects with more than 100 devices, your own NB-IoT SIM card can be used to send data to a self-hosted SensDesk instance. Remote management and configuration are conveniently handled via the SensDesk portal or the SensDesk Mobile App (iOS and Android). The free HWg-Cloud supports up to 20 devices, while larger projects can use a dedicated SensDesk instance.
Flexible Power Supply and Robust Design
The NB-2xOut is powered by an internal, non-rechargeable Li-MnO2 battery (1500 mAh) with a lifetime of up to three years, depending on usage and switching intervals. Alternatively, an external 5V power adapter (included in the TSET package) can be used. The compact metal housing (67 x 31 x 69 mm, 151 g) with IP40 protection is suitable for desktop, wall, or DIN rail mounting and withstands demanding environments (-10 °C to 70 °C, 0–100% RH). This design makes the device ideal for industrial applications, IT environments, or building control.
Automated Control and Alerting
The NB-2xOut enables automated device control based on events, such as switching on a pump at low water level or activating warning lights in case of a security alarm. Notifications are sent via email or HWg-Push to up to five recipients through the SensDesk portal.
SMS notifications are possible with an optional HWg-SMS-GW3 gateway. Users can define individual conditions, e.g., “Switch on the heater when the temperature drops below 15 °C.” The SensDesk portal offers charts, historical data, and PDF reports for analysis and audits, ideal for applications such as heating control or industrial automation.
Easy Installation and Integration
Installation of the NB-2xOut is straightforward: after connecting the relay outputs and the power supply, the device is configured via the SensDesk portal by entering the device hash. It supports protocols such as NB-Push, COAP, and SNTP, enabling easy integration into IoT solutions or third-party systems such as MS Azure.
The HWg-SDK provides programming examples in C++, C#, PHP, and Java for custom applications. Data can be accessed via XML or SNMP, facilitating connection to SCADA systems. SensDesk technology supports open API for advanced analytics.
