The NB-2xIn from HW group is a compact IoT monitoring device specifically developed for connecting devices with dry contact outputs such as door contacts, smoke, gas, or motion detectors.
It enables monitoring of two independent digital inputs (DI) via Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) and is ideal for applications such as theft protection, gas or smoke leak detection, as well as monitoring of unintentionally opened windows or doors.
The device is powered by an internal battery (up to 3 years lifetime) or an external 5V power adapter and can be easily remotely monitored and configured via the SensDesk portal or the SensDesk Mobile app (iOS and Android). The NB-2xIn TSET package includes a 3-year NB-IoT SIM card from Vodafone, enabling immediate use in most countries.

Monitoring of Digital Inputs
The NB-2xIn supports two independent digital inputs (DI) for dry contacts, which can be connected to detectors such as door contacts (e.g., Door Contact MK4), smoke detectors (e.g., Optical Smoke Detector FDR26), gas leak sensors, or motion detectors (e.g., Motion PIR Detector). Each input can also count S0 pulses, enabling integration of water, gas, or electricity meters with pulse outputs. The data is transmitted in real time via the SensDesk portal or HWg-Cloud, where it can be displayed in charts and exported to MS Excel for reports (e.g., HACCP-compliant).
Narrowband IoT for Energy-Efficient Connectivity
With Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT), the NB-2xIn offers secure and energy-efficient data transmission, ideal for remote locations without LAN or WiFi infrastructure. The device comes standard with a 3-year NB-IoT SIM card from Vodafone, usable in most countries.
Alternatively, you can use your own NB-IoT SIM card (Note: LTE SIM cards are not compatible). Network monitoring is performed via the SensDesk portal or the free HWg-Cloud (for up to 20 devices). For larger projects with over 100 devices, a dedicated SensDesk instance can be hosted.
Flexible Power Supply and Robust Design
The NB-2xIn is powered by an internal, non-rechargeable Li-MnO2 battery (1500 mAh) with a lifetime of up to three years, depending on usage and measurement intervals. Alternatively, an external 5V power adapter (e.g., 5V Wall Plug Adaptor INT) can be used, which is included in the TSET package. The compact metal housing (67 x 31 x 69 mm, 151 g) with IP40 protection is suitable for desktop, wall, or DIN rail mounting and provides a robust solution for industrial environments (-10 °C to 70 °C, 0–100% RH).
Alerting and Notifications
The NB-2xIn offers reliable alerting options for critical events. When the status of the digital inputs changes (e.g., door opened or smoke detected), the device sends notifications via email or HWg-Push to up to five recipients through the SensDesk portal.
SMS notifications are possible with an optional HWg-SMS-GW3 gateway. Users can define individual alarm conditions, e.g., “Send an email if the door is open for more than 10 minutes.” The SensDesk platform also provides historical data and PDF reports for audits or long-term analyses.
Easy Installation and Integration
Installation of the NB-2xIn is straightforward: simply connect the device to the power supply, connect the sensors to the RJ11 ports, and configure via the SensDesk portal by entering the device hash. It supports protocols such as NB-Push, COAP, and SNTP, facilitating integration into IoT solutions.
The HWg-SDK provides programming examples in C++, C#, PHP, and Java for custom applications. SensDesk technology enables data access via XML or SNMP, ideal for SCADA systems or third-party clouds such as MS Azure.
