The splitter for RS-485 sensors on Poseidon devices
The HW group Poseidon S-Hub is a device that allows RS-485 sensors to be connected to devices of the Poseidon family, such as the Poseidon2 4002. The RS-485 bus is connected to the Poseidon device via TP cable and RJ45 connectors. The S-Hub allows up to 8 sensors to be connected via RJ45 to a single Poseidon unit.
Multiple S-Hubs can be connected in series. Even though the topology of the S-Hub resembles that of an Ethernet hub, it cannot be switched.

How the Poseidon S-Hub is built
The compact plastic housing measures approximately 71 x 55 x 37 mm and weighs about 68 g. Operating conditions: -30°C to 70°C at 0–100 % relative humidity (storage: -30°C to 60°C, 5–95 % RH).

RJ45 ports for RS-485 sensors
Eight RJ45 ports for connecting RS-485 sensors via standard TP cable (star topology) plus one additional RJ45 port for connection to the Poseidon unit (e.g. Poseidon model 1250 or Poseidon2 4002).
Power supply (12V)
Powered via a barrel jack (Ø 2.1/5.5 mm) or directly via the RJ45 connector, both with 12V and a power consumption of approx. 250 mA. A standard 12V power supply unit can be used.
Interaction with the Poseidon family
The RS-485 bus works reliably even over long distances in industrial environments, provided that certain cabling principles are observed. The S-Hub is therefore often supplied together with the Poseidon device to significantly simplify sensor installation.

Commissioning in a few steps
The Poseidon S-Hub is configured directly via the connected Poseidon unit and does not require its own interface.
- Place the S-Hub near the Poseidon device or the RS-485 sensors
- Connect the S-Hub to the Poseidon device using an RJ45 cable (TP cable)
- Connect up to 8 RS-485 sensors via the RJ45 ports of the S-Hub
- Establish the power supply (12V, barrel jack or via RJ45)
- Optional: connect further S-Hubs in series to attach additional sensors
- Have the sensors detected and configured on the Poseidon device

Practical example: In a larger server room, up to eight RS-485 temperature and humidity sensors are connected to a Poseidon2 4002 via a Poseidon S-Hub using standard TP cables. Thanks to the star topology via RJ45, new sensor locations in the room can easily be retrofitted without having to change the existing RS-485 bus cabling.
