Galvanically isolated voltage measurement up to 60 V DC
The Sensor 60V 1W-UNI v2 is a signal converter for DC voltages up to 60 V DC with conversion to the 1-Wire-UNI bus (RJ11). It is typically used as a mains or battery voltage sensor in telecommunications systems (standard −48 V) and is also suitable for voltage measurement at the output of 0–10 V industrial transducers. This makes it possible to connect virtually any analogue industrial sensor via Poseidon2 or Ares devices and provide the values via LAN or GSM.
The input is fully electrically isolated from the 1-Wire-UNI bus; with 2 % accuracy the sensor can also be used for smaller signals such as 0–10 V. Two RJ11 sockets allow daisy-chain connection of multiple sensors; power can be supplied either via the 1-Wire bus or an external 5 V power supply.
Versatile voltage converter for 1-Wire UNI
The Sensor 60V 1W-UNI v2 combines galvanic isolation, high accuracy and flexible unit conversion in a compact housing.
0–60 V DC
Input range 0 to 60 V DC (max. 70 V), accuracy 2 % of the full 60 V range at 25 °C.
Galvanic isolation
The 1-Wire-UNI bus is fully electrically isolated from the 0–60 V input.
Daisy-chain capable
Two RJ11 connectors enable chaining of multiple sensors on the same bus.
Flexible power supply
Operation directly via the 1-Wire-UNI bus or via an external 5 V power supply.
8-point calibration
The characteristic curve can be adjusted at 8 points using the Windows calibration tool.
Unit conversion
The input voltage can be converted directly in the sensor into other units, e.g. mm, hPa, m or ppm.
How the Sensor 60V 1W-UNI v2 is constructed
The plastic housing measures 65 × 80 × 30 mm and weighs approximately 200 g.
Voltage input
The measuring voltage is supplied via a 2-pole screw terminal (V+, V−). The measuring range is 0 to 60 V DC (maximum permissible 70 V); typical applications are 0–1 V, 0–10 V, −48 V DC or 0–60 V signals. Accuracy is 2 % of the full 60 V measuring range at 25 °C, resolution is one decimal place (0.1 V); measurement is performed once per second.
Galvanic isolation
The 0–60 V input is fully electrically isolated from the 1-Wire-UNI bus (RJ11) – and conversely the bus is isolated from the voltage input. This allows independent, potential-free measurement of individual battery cells or voltage sources without connecting the measuring circuit to the bus or other sensors on the same string.
1-Wire-UNI connection and daisy-chain
Two RJ11 sockets connect the sensor to the 1-Wire-UNI bus; thanks to the dual socket further sensors can be connected in series (daisy-chain). The maximum total cable length from the active port is 60 m. Supported host devices include Poseidon2, Ares, Poseidon 2250, Poseidon 4002 and SiteMon5.
Power supply
The sensor is powered either directly via the 1-Wire-UNI bus (RJ11) or via an external 5 V DC power supply (barrel connector, inner diameter 1.35 mm / outer diameter 3.5 mm). One active RJ11 port can supply a maximum of two sensors; for more sensors on the same string the “1-Wire hub Power” or an external power supply is recommended.
Output and unit conversion
By default the measured value is output in volts [V]. If required the voltage can be converted directly in the sensor into another physical unit (e.g. [m], [mm], [hPa] or [ppm]), so that e-mails, SMS notifications and the host device web interface display the already converted value.
Housing and environment
The compact plastic housing (65 × 80 × 30 mm, approx. 200 g) is designed according to the data sheet for operation at −40 to +85 °C and 5 to 70 % relative humidity. Note: The manufacturer’s website and the Didactum product page list differing values (−30 to +85 °C or 0–100 % RH as well as other dimensions); the figures in the PDF data sheet are authoritative.
GSM remote monitoring of voltage and current in −48 V telco systems
A typical application example from the data sheet shows how both voltage and current of a −48 V system can be monitored with two sensors.
Voltage measurement
One Sensor 60V 1W-UNI v2 measures the voltage in the 48 V supply system directly.
Current measurement via shunt
A second sensor measures the voltage across a current-sensing resistor; this millivolt value corresponds to the flowing current.
GSM connection
An Ares GSM/GPRS unit supplies both sensors and reads the data; the internal Ares battery safeguards the converter in the event of a power failure.
Alarming
Limit violations can be reported by SMS (up to 5 telephone numbers), alarm e-mail or via the online portal.
