Remote monitoring and control for industrial applications with 230V/16A relay outputs
The HW group Poseidon2 3468 is a LAN monitoring and control device for sensors, detectors and digital inputs/outputs, designed for demanding industrial applications. It supports up to 8 sensors via 1-Wire UNI/1-Wire as well as up to 4 detectors on digital inputs. In addition, the Poseidon2 3468 controls 2 digital 230V/16A relay outputs and up to 8 virtual digital outputs (VDO) on remote Poseidon2 or Damocles2 units (M2M).
In addition to the standard power input of 9–30 V DC, the Poseidon2 3468 can also be operated with -48 V, which facilitates use in telecom environments. Configuration is performed via the integrated web server; for remote monitoring over the Internet, the SensDesk portal in combination with the SensDesk Mobile app for iOS and Android is suitable. The device also works with HWg-PDMS and HWg-Trigger and uses secure M2M protocols (HTTPS, IPv6, SNMPv3). Thanks to support for more than 50 SNMP and SCADA applications, the Poseidon2 3468 can be integrated into a wide range of existing monitoring and control systems; the MQTT protocol additionally enables connection to IoT solutions.

Practical application examples
- Remote monitoring of environmental values in control cabinets, server rooms or data centres
- Remote I/O control and monitoring over Ethernet
- UPS / standby power system monitoring
- Industrial and telecom applications
- HVAC monitoring
- Refrigerator and freezer monitoring with alarm indication
- Security and surveillance systems
- Smart buildings
Practical example: At a telecom node with -48 V power supply, the Poseidon2 3468 monitors the ambient temperature in the control cabinet via a 1-Wire UNI temperature sensor. When a threshold is exceeded, the device automatically switches one of the 230V/16A relay outputs to activate a cooling fan and simultaneously sends an e-mail and an SNMP trap to the system monitoring. An additional digital input monitors the door contact of the control cabinet and reports unauthorised access immediately.
Frequently asked questions
What is the HW group Poseidon2 3468 and what is it used for?
The Poseidon2 3468 is a LAN-based monitoring and control device for sensors, detectors and digital inputs/outputs with particularly powerful 230V/16A relay outputs. It is especially suitable for industrial applications, telecommunications environments, server rooms and data centres.
What is the difference between the two sets?
Set 1 "Poseidon2 3468" is the base unit without accessories. Set 2 "Poseidon2 3468 TSet" additionally includes a matching power supply and a 3-metre temperature sensor with the base unit. The desired variant is selected above the shopping cart.
How many sensors and digital inputs/outputs can be connected?
Up to 8 1-Wire UNI/1-Wire sensors can be connected via two RJ11 ports. In addition there are 4 digital inputs with pulse counting function, 2 relay outputs rated 230V/16A and up to 8 virtual digital outputs (VDO) for controlling other HWg devices.
What are the 230V/16A relay outputs suitable for?
The two relay outputs can switch 230 V loads directly without the need for an additional contactor – for example fans, air conditioners, heaters or lighting. Switching is performed manually via the web interface or automatically based on sensor values, e.g. as an IP thermostat.
How is the Poseidon2 3468 powered?
By default via 9–30 V DC through a barrel jack or terminal block. In addition the device supports power supply with -48 V DC (telecom standard) as well as Power over Ethernet (PoE). A matching power supply is included only in the TSet package; for the base unit it must be obtained separately.
What are virtual digital outputs (VDO)?
Virtual digital outputs are up to 8 outputs that can be assigned to physical relay outputs of other Poseidon2 or Damocles2 devices on the same LAN. This allows an alarm on the Poseidon2 3468 to directly trigger a relay on a remote device (M2M communication, Box2Box).
How are SMS or call alarms sent?
The Poseidon2 3468 does not have its own GSM/LTE modem. SMS and call alarms are possible either via the HWg-Trigger software with an external GSM modem or via an HWg-SMS-GW3 gateway on the same LAN.
What security features does the device offer?
The Poseidon2 3468 supports HTTPS-encrypted configuration, SNMP v1 and v3 as well as IPv6. Access to the web interface can additionally be restricted by passwords or IP address ranges.
